Dundee United » Brechin City V's Dundee United - Friday 5th July » 05/7/2019 11:09 pm |
My take on it-
United starting XI: out of 10
Siegrist - nothing to do couple of crosses but nothing much else
L Smith - looks a good player especially going forward took his goal really well. Took a shocking elbow to the puss with a fair amount of blood but played on 8
Connolly - decent won headers and played it simple 7
Reynolds - as above 7
Sporle - looked better second half before the changes, think he’ll take a bit of time to get used to Scottish fitba but signs are good 6
Bouhenna - strolled about, pinged passes about and never broke sweat, he’s definitely a midfielder rather than a centre half 8
Stanton - was superb, lung bursting runs all night and his goal was superb 9
(Trialist) Ganet - looked good too, fair shift and he passed the ball well 7
Sow - Stong hold up play and looked a bit sharper and interested tonight a decent shift before he came off 7
McMullan - plated well just his usual tricky wing play but some final balls were just not quite on the money 7
Chalmers - young lad did well a decent run out and some good skills 7
Subs:
Watson - did ok and nice goal for him 6
Frans - nothing much to do 5
Graham - as above 5
Robson - looked like he had a point to prove, now under pressure for a place 6
Glass - did well 6
C Smith - could be our no 10 type player some nice through balls 7
Banks - young lads were really impressive 6
Mochrie - as above comment 6
Harkes - nice tidy player just getting back but showed some nice touches 6
Appere - Looked very impressive, strong laddie who looks more than ready to push for a starting jersey really pleased with him tonight. 8
Shankland - looks even from that 35min to have something, clever runs, nice touches and almost that first goal tonight 7.
Unnamed Trialist - centre mid looked ok too 6.
All in all a very impressive performance, excellent tempo for the full 90mins and really put Brechin to the sword. Trying not to get carried away but that was superb at times tonight.

Look I can see why people are sceptical about any signing we make, we have been beaten down again and again over the past 4-5 years in particular. False dawn after false dawn. Players coming in and out in again all pretty much unable to get us going.
There is however got to be a turning point when we do sign the right players and they click. Let’s all hope and pray that this is the season which see’s us doing the bizz and not reverting to type.
One thing is for sure we now do have the right backing and infrastructure in place to allow this to happen.
All aboard for season 2019-20

I’m delighted with this, the laddie ripped us and others a new arsehole last season if he can reproduce for us then I’ll be a happy Arab.

I’ve no posted for ages, just time wise for me, I’ve popped on and quickly read others but just got out the way of regular posts. I’ll maybe get back to it a bit more if I can.

That was a disgrace of a 'performance' today. It's left me really angry to be quite honest (not for the first time this season).
Arabphobia makes a point of saying that the supporters need to get behind the players in numbers and voice.
Well we did that today. There was also the touching tribute to the young Utd fan who tragically passed away far too young.
And what do the fans get back? Nothing. Let down, once again.
I can accept losing if we have a right go and are simply beaten by a better team. As long as we leave it 'all out there'.
But we never laid a glove on them today.
Simply not good enough. Nowhere fucking near it in fact.
Sums it up nicely

Aye apart fae Partick it was the best draw we could have got and home advantage. I almost have a semi coming on

In the end of the day for me I’ll take Butch getting the odd red as even his presence on the pitch is enough to put the fear into the opposite team. We’ve missed a real battle hardened cunt since he left or Bowman retired. He’ll sit a few out but we knew that was the case but when he does play he’ll no give an inch which is where we have been so poor for so long in terms of letting teams boss us.
Dundee United » Mr Ogren » 01/2/2019 11:55 pm |
Yesterday was a day when optimism was rekindled in our club again, hopefully this time is not another false dawn and we can look forward to really pushing County and Ayr to the title or being in the best position to go up via the playoffs.

It’s the same sort of distance no more than a 5min walk to the ground.

My daughter lives about 100 yards away from that pub. Says its great. I dunno how far to Links Park....
Dundee United » Montrose predictions? » 19/1/2019 10:20 am |
Aye picture house is big but service is less than exceptional, the Market will be jumping I’d imagine. Other alternative is if your coming via the train is go left out of the station and along past Aldi and then turn right up lower hall street till you get to the main road. Turn left and head for about 150yrds and you’ll get to the Northen Vaults which is a good boozer too. It’s about the same distance to Links Park as the Market is.
I was brought up in Montrose and my family and friends are still there so I need to not lose, let’s just put it that way. Montrose are a decent side and have cemented their place in League 1 after promotion so it’s not gonna be easy but if we can get in front I’d hope we can get a decent win by maybe 2 or 3 however I think it will be tight and we sneak a 1-0
Hope anyone going enjoys this magic wee town

Agree I too am happy at what I’m hearing. He knows to be making money we need to be top 6 and pushing for Europe and getting to the latter stages or winning domestic cups. If we can get back to that then I’d happily sell a player or two again for big money to give him some cash back.
Surely being there is better than where we are at the moment!!
We thought the Thompson era would have been a bed or roses as a rich Utd fanatic was going to make us contenders again, however history sadly will show Eddie blew masses of money and his son did everything he could to claw it back leaving us as a shell of a club.
It might go tits up but let’s give these guys a chance before moaning at them for no having the bogs sparkling in the ET stand
Dundee United » Dundee Utd V Dunfermline » 12/1/2019 7:34 pm |
Honking game, we were pish poor for the vast majority of it, however when you are playing shite and still win then that’s a decent sign.
Thought we were so one paced it was easy for them to defend against. Murdoch crocked himself with maybe the worst first touch I’ve seen at Tannadice meaning his second was a tackle.
Hopefully another 2-3 signings before we meet Ayr away.
Anyway onto the cup and off to the Mo next week!

I guess time will tell with Gomis but as we already know (from Robbie's comments) that he is coming in as back-up, I'd rather have a 60 year-old Jimmy Gomis with one leg than Barton or Rabitsch, simple as that.

Players head maybe turned by the interest and he says he wants to go, we go back with an increased offer and it happens, well it seems to work on us so why not try it for us for once

Looking forward to cheerleaders, hotdogs from venders walking the stairs and marching bands at half time.
If he can get the dog shit outside the ground sorted out then maybe the pre-match walk up could improve too
Dundee United » Rumour mill » 19/12/2018 11:34 am |
Massive question marks on this, We know the name but diddly squat else about this man, obviously has money in the bank but with so many fingers in other sports pies where do we stand in his priorities as he's obviously not going to be a chairman on the ground at Tannadice on a day to basis and i'd imagine not even a month to month basis.
I'm slightly worried if truth be told

Clark was decent tonight first half especially.
Massive shout out to Edge tonight. That tackle at 3-2 was outstanding. As good and as big as a goal at the other end.
