Dundee United » Connolly » 16/9/2020 9:34 am

I think you're looking at it the wrong way round - who does Connolly (and he's a player I like) think he is ignoring public safety protocol and Dundee Utd instructions - especially after the Celtic and Aberdeen furore. Poor judgement from him that demands apologies to club and fans

Dundee United » Benji » 30/10/2019 2:11 pm

Sorry but he's not good enough. He's a big lad so he is going to shot stop but command of the box is poor. Distribution is inconsistent. Punches and flips too much. I'd like to see Deniz get a go

Dundee United » A First for me today » 21/10/2019 3:55 pm

Bang on. Try to play us at our own game and we'll burst you. Work like maniacs with a point to prove and you'll beat us. But then what grafters do we have in the team? Butcher, Robson, Harkes maybe...sometimes, Appere sometimes - that's not enough. A midfield with Stanton and Harkes both in it is too powder puff in this league. We aren't tough enough and we certainly ain't gritty enough

Dundee United » Sporle » 05/10/2019 3:15 pm

Seems to have a new lease of life ....where did that photo of his girlfriend go??
Asking for a friend 😉

Dundee United » Shankland » 01/10/2019 2:26 pm

I see where you are coming from but let's think long-term. He'll be chuffed to bits, other players will see Utd as a place to come to, a boost too for the squad and staff....and the fans! Maybe Johnny Russell and Shankland up front! Increases his confidence, increases his value.

This can only be good for us as long as he doesn't get injured.  But he can come a cropper making himself a cup of tea - so chill and be happy!

Dundee United » Neilson/McCall spat: what do you think? » 17/9/2019 10:57 am

Just football banter - no biggie. As someone else says something we should use to shut MccCall up

Dundee United » What players would you like us to sign? » 05/6/2019 11:47 am

I think you just have to look at Callum Butcher to answer that - he's come back faster, leaner and fitter in my opinion

Lol, why do people want a player in the ‘Scott Fraser mould’?

One of the laziest and most disinterested players I’ve ever seen in a united shirt.

I don’t care how much talent you have, if you ain’t willing to put in at least a decent shift, it’s a no from me.

Even if he was remotely talented, he would surely have been able to stand out in a championship side without shifting his arse? Oh wait, he was lazy and bang average at football.

I saw him against Sunderland recently - was one of the best players on the pitch and put in one heck of a shift. Set up Burton's goal too I think. Maybe he didn't live up to our Sturrock/Bannon/Milne expectations all the time but he's a decent a player

Dundee United » DUFC versus ICT - Tuesday 26th Feb (7.45pm) » 27/2/2019 9:55 am

Rush of blood from Pawlett but Coll D did rap his ankles with a cynical one just moments before. Still.. need to rise above that!

Dundee United » January transfer window » 30/1/2019 1:32 pm

My memory of him is that McNamara moved him from defence to midfield because he gave away too many free kicks. The blurb on Wikipedia also mentions that Burton were concerned he was picking up too many yellow cards. I was hoping for someone with a bit more quality than him but....certainly no doubting his fighting spirit. But then you could say that about The Edge, Watson and going back a bit Durnan

Dundee United » What's happened to Paul Sturrock? » 07/1/2019 12:05 am

At his Q&A a while back you could've almost got the impression he was running the gaff.
I heard a rumour that he took the huff after Csaba vetoed all his summer signings.
I also heard that Psycho Bowman was sent to take in a recent MK Dons game so sounds like he's not scouting either ?
Is he still with the club ??

Dundee United » January transfer window » 03/1/2019 2:08 pm

What about him? Are we linked with him? Or is this thread becoming a notification of every player that sniffed Scottish football and is now getting punted from their current club?

Defence suspect but you have to point at the keeper there...for both goals, should have stayed on his line for the first and was no need to run out so far on somebody coming in at that angle especially as a defender was coming across (who he blocked).  He made it easy for the striker to slip it past him.

I agree on the first one that he has to make sure that he gets to the ball first but given that he's got a split second to make his mind up when the balls arrowing towards an Alloa giant - I can see why he came for it. Tallest alloa shouldn't be unmarked in our box
Disagree on the 2nd - Zanatta is waltzing unchallenged through the penalty box - goalie has to rush him.
It's the defenders that take the blame for me. Bouhenna needs some fire in his belly as does Frans. Watson and The Edge are just cloggers - hopefully we find a answer in the January window

Barton is worse though !! He's like Guy Demel but slower and without the skill

Dundee United » Morton v Dundee United ~ Saturday 8th December (3.00pm) » 05/12/2018 11:10 am

I don't understand the downer on Robson. He's young - he will have poor games now and again. But he's better than Booth. I hear people say - oh Robson's not good in the air. Then I see him win the majority of headers. And he does attack down the flank ( I know there are some that prefer the ball just to be bladdered to oblivion up the channel). We don't do ourselves any favours with the encouragement of young players at Tannadice - it's little wonder they either leave or shrink in to themselves

Best in respect of enjoyed it the most - Erik P. But otherwise Victor "I Spit in Your Face" Ferreyra. Then despite his horrific management - Big Mixu! Lethal

On the possibility of keeping Safranko permanently, it was mentioned by Robbie Neilson at the Q&A a couple of weeks ago, the possibility of perhaps the fans clubbing in to help pay the fee, or even the using the money already in place with the foundation.

Would anyone else be in favour of doing this?

No.  Stupid comment from Neilson.  Does he think there's a Dundonian Ann Budge waiting in the wings?

All a bit worrying.  Perhaps we could no bother doing up the place across the road and just make sure that we go up....!

Neilson never mentioned that at all. A punter in the crowd suggested it would be a good idea and said he personally (the punter) would be willing to put money in to fund a Safranko deal. Neilson was a bit taken aback I think and simply reinforced that he's a good player, a good trainer with bags of energy and had taken a pay cut to come to us but he belongs to another team and he has no idea what it would cost to bring him here permanently.

Dundee United » Paul Sturrock's last goal for Dundee United » 01/11/2018 12:07 pm

I remember feeling heartbroken for him. He was my favourite player, well him and Dave Narey, and he was making a comeback from a bad Achilles injury..Graham Roberts slid full pelt right through the back of him at Tannadice,  with no chance of winning the ball. I think that's the last time he played...? Limped off looking broken

Dundee United » Robbie Neilson - Profile » 09/10/2018 12:27 pm

Anyone have a rundown of his management stats? Played won/loss/drawn at Hearts and MK Dons? Players signed and sold etc?

Dundee United » Paul Quinn » 04/10/2018 11:01 am

Luggy clearly did undermine him - he had to!! Anyway, Paul Quinn is just stirring up shit cos he's finished/found out. It's the only way he can get an income or raise any publicity. If he couldn't show some class on the pitch he should at least try to show some off it!

Good observations about the training methods lifesan & backs up PQ's comments.
But St Andrews University Sports Centre is not the best gym in Scotland & Quinn is not a prick (nothing wrong with his article, good of him to air his views) & has had a very decent career by anyone's standards.

His stuff about taking the 80s stuff down makes him a twat and a prick. He had an distinctly poor career by the standards of any of the players that he's so jealous of.

Who is he playing for now?
