If you had just one choice, lads? Thought it would be interesting to see the different opinions as we have posters on here ageing from16-80.
For me it's Kjell Olofsson.

Best and before my time would probably be Finn Dossing going by the stats but personally my favourite was good old Victoooooor.
I can actually remember Kjell getting pelters near the end of his time at United for being slow.

Best foreign player in my time is probably Miodrag Krivokapic.
Offline
in my lifetime, Jon Daly.
wasn’t really until 2 years after he left that I realised how important he was to us.

Olofsson was the first name that came to mind, as he has already been suggested, how about morgaro gomis?
work rate, composure, great touch, tactical awareness and a scottish cup winner.

Possibly Eric Pederson
That's an amazing shout that.

Its a toss up between Krivokapic, Pedersen, Kalvenes and Olafsson, IMO. I'm not taking into account players that were before my time.

Jon Daly for me.

Best in respect of enjoyed it the most - Erik P. But otherwise Victor "I Spit in Your Face" Ferreyra. Then despite his horrific management - Big Mixu! Lethal

In my lifetime, it has to be Olofsson, Mio or Erik. Victor was a great talent but we never really got a full run of games out of him. Mixu was also a great player in his first couple of seasons then went off the boil in his last couple of years.

Loads of great foreign players in my time. He wasn't here long and Tbf if he didnt suffer a bad injury he would never have been near Tannadice. Imo he just oozed class. Siggi Jonsson.

He was a class act aswell. Real top player.
Dossing was God.
His deity was confirmed on 11 Sept 65.
It's the day the power shifted to the north side of Tannadice Street.
A very significant date.

Olofsson, Petric, Gomis, Kalvenes, Dijkstra, Weaver in no particular order.
Offline
Van Der Hoorn, Mio, Kjell, Pedersen, Petric and more recently Nadir Cifti

Richard Gough unbelievable ability in the air.
Slightly tainted due to his hunnery.

Petric was class, Sieb is a cult hero, Kjell, Lars and Erik were class. As for ability, when he did play, Siggi for me. If it wasn't for a career plagued with injuries, he would have been playing at the highest level.

Best: Siggi Jonsson, maybe in terms of reputation, but Souness had wrecked his career to a huge extent more than 10 years before we signed him. Great player with a presence though.
Best in recent times would be Nadir Ciftci for entertainment value, skills and general ‘craziness’.
I also thought we could have got a lot more out of Tassos Venetis (!), but overall, it’s Miodrag Krivkapic.

Lenny Wing closely followed by Finn Dossing

He is, IMO, the guy that annoyed me because he didn't achieve his potential. I was genuinely going to comment on him earlier in this thread.

Has to be Finn Seemann for me! Without him I would probably have been a Dee.
In terms of players I have actually seen play - Gough despite his post United career was a class player. I'd agree re Jonsson, Pedersen, Ollofson, Petric and Krivokapic being up there. In terms of more obscure, always thought Talesnikov looked a player.

Surprised no-one has mentioned Mixu who was a very good striker for us.

Finn Dossing for me.

Downfield mentioned Lennart Wing and that's a great shout. Dossing got the headlines but Lennart was a classy defender for a big man, think he played in both games v the cellik in 67 when we beat them home and away.
Mogens Berg was also good to watch. In fact all the Scandinavians were great value.
But if I had to put them in order in my time I'd go
Gough (strip away the emotion)
closely followed by the mighty Finn of Dossing
runner up Jimmy Gomis
