Morton v Dundee Utd 04/05/19

Last league game of the season on Saturday and we travel to Morton on the back of another clean sheet and convincing win. Would be good to end the season with another clean sheet and victory to keep momentum going.

I think he will make a couple of changes this weekend. Fyvie with a run out McMullan took a knock on Saturday so he may be on bench or left out..
Think Sow will start again hopefully he can get a goal as he did do well i thought on Saturday.

Siegrist
Seaman
Bouhenna
Reynolds
Booth
Pawlett
Butcher
Fyvie
Robson
Sow
Safranko

Re: Morton v Dundee Utd 04/05/19

I would rest players like Safranko, McMullan, Pawlett, Harkes, Butcher, Robson, Reynolds and Benji. Gusy like Stanton, Cammy Smith, Sow, Nesbitt and Connolly need game time.

I would go with:

Laidlaw
Seaman
Connolly
Bouhenna
Booth
Chalmers
Fyvie
Stanton
Cammy Smith
Matty Smith
Sow

Not the best of line ups, but if players stay injury free from that game and the players above have more game time and build their match fitness/sharpness, we will go into the play offs with a fully fit squad.

Then we just wrap Reynolds, McMullan, Butcher, Pav, Pawlett and Clark in bubble wrap until the Ayr or ICT game

You do realise theres 10 days between Saturday and our next game. I'd keep changes to a minimum

And that's after 7 days of no football.

2 and a half week lay-off might not be good for some who are just hitting form.

It's a tough one tbh.

Re: Morton v Dundee Utd 04/05/19

Hard to argue with that team. You'd still have Nesbitt, Gomis and possibly Frans for the bench as well. All of whom should get on at some point.

Reynolds, Butcher and Pavol should nowhere near the team. McMullan looked knackered on Saturday as well.

I'd put Clark on the bench to come on for Sow after about 60-70 minutes actually.

Do any of you think Fyvie will start a game again?

There's a few rumours doing the rounds that he will soon announce his retirement from playing.

Re: Morton v Dundee Utd 04/05/19

Think we might see a farewell appearance from Gomis tomorrow at some point.

I wouldn't be against seeing this line-up.

...........................Laidlaw..................
Seaman.....Bouhenna..Connolly...Booth
Pawlett.....Harkes...Stanton...Robson...
................Clark......C.Smith....

Subs - Siegrest, Reynolds, Sow
Šafranko, Gomis, McMullan, Frans

Re: Morton v Dundee Utd 04/05/19

Got to be a squad rotation tomorrow ahead of play offs

Is butcher suspended one match after card last week??

Benji, Cammy Smith and Sow should all play and the rest I’d play those needing a game to get fit

I would rest entirely the vital players including Robson, Clark, Reynolds and big Pav

No. he's available.

I'd definitely rest him.

Big player for us for the Play-Off's.

Re: Morton v Dundee Utd 04/05/19

Laidlaw should get a run out for sure - wouldn't want to be in a position where we have to bring on a keeper that's not played a minute of  first team fitba.

Frans will need a run our too if he's fit.

Think Chalmers showed enough against Falkirk to get another crack at it.

Re: Morton v Dundee Utd 04/05/19

At least we have the benefit of it being a dead rubber.
A month back we were looking at Morton (A) on May 4th & thinking, that could be mental.
Shame really that it doesn't matter but whatever the starting XI I'll trust Robbie's selection.
He & the management team will have been pouring over it all week.

Butcher isn't on the threshold of suspension, I wouldn't have thought.

Re: Morton v Dundee Utd 04/05/19

I’d defo give Sow a start today.  Give Chalmers a chance too.  Other than that I’d keep the changes to a minimum.  Keep the kettle boiling.

Re: Morton v Dundee Utd 04/05/19

Someone on Twitter saying young Chris Mochrie is in our squad today.

Bit surprised, as he's barely featured for the Reserves. But good on him nonetheless (if true).

Re: Morton v Dundee Utd 04/05/19

Hopefully the team can get a good win today regardless of lineup selected and keep the momentum going for the playoffs.

Seen some news which could well have an effect on this one and so will not attempt any prediction.

I think concerning times ahead for the Morton support.  I admit that OF being the exception, that is different not mind seeing the other clubs in Scotland doing well regardless of rivalry and I do enjoy a wind up with non United friends as well.   I just think that Scotland can do without the loss of any decent local club.

He's just turned 16 I think. The fact he's straight into the 1st team squad tells you something about his ability.

Was 16 in April
Fair play to the lad.

How did he do when he came on?

Re: Morton v Dundee Utd 04/05/19

Did anyone do well in yesterday's glorified 'bounce match'?

In particular how was young Seaman, Chalmers and Mochrie?

How did Osman Sow look? Fit?
