Ooooorrrr did we do our homework and put in place a plan to limit them to just 5 chances?

Disappointing that he lasted less than a year but hopefully a process is now in place where he can be replaced reasonably easily

Id re sign

Adams
Gallagher
Thomson
Middleton

Loans id like

Stephenson
Dalby
Walton
Adeboyega

If we can get somebody to sign odada then brilliant.

Adeboyega I reckon has been hung out to dry a wee bit by Goodwin. Hes been used in the derby as the only centre back and often hes being made to create overlaps with wingers. If he let him just be a defender in a solid partnership. I think he'd be fine.

Just watched the highlights to see if it was as bad as I thought.... it was. They had runners all first half and nobody picked them up. Not that it would change the result, I'd question if the throw in leading to the Walton drop was a foul throw. Walt9n for as good as hes been this season had a clanger. Hope he picks up. Ferry got skinned for one of the goals and just gives up running.

Var worked! Good for the league getting it right for once.

Adeboyega should never have put his hands on murray - we all know what hes like. Any excuse to fall down
At the 4th, it's a pointless push. He is going wide and Walton has a chance to save.

For me. The difference for me is we need our players to be more like Goodwin was as a player. They were all very nice whereas dundee were tugging holding down. Elbowing and being generally dirty bastards. I hate to say it but we need somebody like murray to orchestrate the chuntyness.

Fuck holt.

As ok as he was for us, goodwins formation is what plays to his strengths and makes him look good. Hes pretty average but in a flattering formation.

Would he have got a new contract come June, I don't believe so. However, he signed a contract with the club - for him, he had to play to the best of his abilities when asked to and for the club to pay him every week, whether he is awful or amazing. The club don't threaten to not pay him - so I'd expect him to fulfill his side of the bargain too.

Thevworlds a screwed up place where Kevin holt has all the power over united.

We've been handed nothing on a plate. We've recruited reasonably well (time will tell if that changes). We've got a system which makes us difficult to beat. It may not be pretty but it's effective. We've conceded the least goals outwith the old firm.  Our team works it's arse off for 90 minutes. We've been lucky in some of those games to take 3 points where you'd maybe say on balance a draw would be fair but equally We've had games where We've deserved at least a draw and been beaten.

Because the league is tight, doesn't make it sh!te. Just means all teams are pretty close in ability and We've found a way to win more than our opponents.

We are not prime Brazil but Goodwin has got a Goodwin style team - hard working, disciplined with a bit of flair at times. We've also had an extremely tough set of fixtures lately - January had both cheeks, the dee twice and jambos.

I’m really hoping that there is a bigger picture going on within the recruiting department than signing loan players to replace the loan players that could have been recalled as a top 3 finish would be great but we need to make sure we are a premier league team.

I'm hoping this is the case. We were heavily linked with campbell in the summer - now he's here - maybe there's things in the background.  Goodwin also said last year that summer deals are being looked at, at this time of year - so perhaps he is getting through until he picks up some class players in summer?

I'm not against united and the academy tbh. I think the system is broken and allows for players to be picked up for pennies. Ie has the amount of compensation due gone up over the years, in line with inflation? Is there any measures being put in place to protect clubs like united who put a lot more into youth than other clubs in our league? If only the elite clubs develop players, there won't be a league. The league. The clubs and the fans need good young players coming through

The club are in a tough spot...don't want to lose players of high quality (I'd hope) but do they risk them walking away for free?

Gutted the young lad is gone.

I only ever saw him get 45 minutes at brechin but I want to see our young talent stay with the club and make a name for themselves.

Tbh I don't blame united entirely here. They get players who's heads are turned by the cash and risk letting them go for free....the system though is completely broken. (Or scottish football is compared to our neighbours.)

The compensation for players is a pittance. The costs associated with taking them from young players to a level where championship teams want them is hugely high. Figure also all the players who fall by the wayside need to be covered too.

For norwich, there's almost 0 risk to taking our best prospects.

It almost gets to the point of why should united and other clubs in a similar position spend years of time and 100s of thousands to see them walk. Away.

As an aside it might be slightly more palatable if the system was scalable and we could look at teams in the lower scottish leagues but it's simply not there

Any other tv viewers see the steward behind the goal holding his head when we scored?

I mean you don't need to support united to work there but maybe hide your allegiances a bit 🤣

I read that Killie are very interested in him.

He is a decent player but Falkirk but not a championship player.

Perth saints want him too i read.

With the greatest of respect to those teams, I think we would be a financially better option than killie saintees and falkirk. Also believe more teams down south would look at a united player than a st johnstone player.

Cant see us splashing any cash though. Would be a freebie i think

Bizarre to suggest his contract should be terminated.

I' gutted for the team and gutted for doch himself. We miss him when he's not in the team. He controls games and we play better around him. Also - he's a fantastic professional - i think if we are going to have a squad half full of loanees, we will need players to get them to play our way and fit into our culture.

Whether we offer him a new contract or not, I don't know. By all accounts, this is his worst period of injury in his career

I'd stick with manny. He's had 1 or 2 blunders but probably less that Gallagher tbh. Also adds legs in a defence - neither Gallagher or holt (surely undrinkable just now) . If it's a back 3, I say he takes his place before graham.

Tough game - hearts aren't as bad as their league position...however the team are buzzing just now, so hoping they keep the run going.

Different players at different states of their careers. Odada is still young and has potential to get better. He's big strong and athletic. He could develop a lot yet

Simon Murray is a wee rat - but to be fair to him both adeboyega and Walton were giving him shit before the pen.... so fairs fair. Still happy to see his gutted wee face though.

Delighted with the result. 2nd half was great. Such a battling display...but cool calm and collected throughout

Wtf was holt doing on the left wing though 🤣

Absolutely love the team jim Goodwin has built

Is it too early to start dreaming of Europe?

Don't mind Goodwin praising odada. I think he's showing us that he is a work in progress, that they've identified areas he needs to work on and that he's making progress. The Scottish league is fast n furious - and maybe doesn't suit him from spending a few years in the US (I've only ever been to 1 'soccer' game but it was not at all fast paced).

In general terms, we are in a league where 10 or 11 teams can beat each other. It's hugely competitive....and we are at the right end of that league so far.

As an aside, fans are really flocking back to Scottish football. Attendances are up all over the league..it's good to see. More people and the ability to negotiate a better tv deal = more cash and better facilities and a better quality of player who can be signed......which should improve what we see on the pitch

Well played united.  Wasn't working but changed it up and got the win.

Not to get ahead of ourselves but only 6 points behind a dons side who are really struggling and play them this week.

Unthinkable at the start of the season that we'd even be close to 3rd.

Not a bad time to be a united fan. Incredible job considering the budgets

Nobody likes seeing the bus parked buuuuut we aren't battling against celtic in the season...we are battling the likes of motherwell and St mirren...and they both took 3 nil losses. A 'bonus' point for us could make all the difference for chasing top 6/euro places

I've got to stick up for Jort a bit here.

Obviously you want strikers to score and I don't ever think he would be prolific, however, he is a true team player. Especially early doors, he was asked to play in a system when he was stranded up top on his own. All he could do was chase and try to bring others into play.

He does a job to make others look good and that has some merit. (Albeit, I'd love to see a jort goal or 2 very soon)
