Looks like the window for us has closed going by Goodwin comments after the game.(apart from a few young lads going out  on loan)

I think if we could get most players fit, we look pretty decent.

Kai ia a good lad and disappointed for him thst his united journey ends here but as others have said, i'm not sure what his position is.

Its maybe on united that they a bunch of talented kids all come through but none of them had a position- i think they all wanted to be a number 10 - the trendy position to be but how do you fit them all in. Kai, glass, mochrie, charmers meekison and potentially even thompson. All players who had undoubtedly talent but never really had a defined position for ms

Maybe i'm overthinking it and its just the cut throat world of professional football

It's not often you can be so dissapointed and so proud all at once.

The team and fans gave their absolute all over the two legs and came so close to toppling one of the better teams in the competition.

I hope the players realise that they could do something really special this season and push to avenge that result.

Once we have everybody fit. We will be some team

Seems some folk think its ok to dig out abuse to players for 90 mins but as soon as something comes back they start crying.

It enrages fans because players should know better than to wind up a crowd. I also don’t think hearts players were abused either apart from the odd boo towards Shankland or Spittal. There was no need to run to the United fans.

Did you get a replacement for your lighter? 🤣

Same could be said for the aberdeen fan, no?  Fans were ok the pitch w8nding them up.... I dont think we can go 'and eye for an eye'

Do we actually know if ogres is here to make a profit off the annual income?

So many Americans involved in scottish football now and they can't all be naive.

What if he just wants the club to pay for itself (and start to pay off the debt).

For ogres to make a profit, he needed to invest in the team early. Grow the team = better performances = more income = higher value of the asset ie club. That plan is win win really - we get a good team, he gets his loans back and an asset to sell for more money. The flaw in the whole plan was that we got worse performances, rather than better

Police Scotland looking for assistance with a lighter hitting a hearts player, thrown from the george fox. What is wrong with folk

Get a grip. No better than the Aberdeen fan last season

This is why we can't get a drink at the game. Blame the old firm all you want - but we (collective teams outwith the of) all seem to have an idiot element.

So, Goodwin only deserves a new contract if the team, decimated by injuries, beats a team, which on paper, is far superior to us?

That feels a little harsh imo. Especially seeing as we finished higher up the league than hearts and aberdeen who both have vastly superior budgets to ours

Cheers for the clarification.  I had it in my head it was but wouldn't swear to it.

So does he deserve a longer term deal?

There's chat on the transfer thread about tye manager situation - so thought id give it, ifs own thread.

Currently, Goodwin on s rolling contract st united. This was good initially when we'd been relegated it made sense that we could change the manager.

However, since relegation, he has got us promoted with a huge points total, got us top 6 and now we are challenging in a 2 legged european tie.

The backdrop to that is also that hes had to ride out a tough time behind the seens with the fallout of the asghar era. His budget was hampered by the likes of tony watt contract.

Equally he's been ruthless when required - there was a lot of raised eyebrows when we let scott mcmann go - but we've really progressed

The early signs for this season are promising. A whole new team which shows signs of promise.

All in all, I think Goodwin deserves a bit of security with a multi year contract (2 or 3) and the club needs to protect itself too.

Courier saying 3 targeted in total.

Perhaps if 2 more move on, it'll allow more in - so 5 might not be too far off.

Odada is an interesting one - Goodwin said he was part of the squad but isn't getting a sniff of action - so perhaps a game to make sure we dont need to give him a big payout to leave

Wasn't a great watch and agree with most of what tek said.

The optimist in me hopes that we will get better as the season goes on as players start to understand their role and what others around them will do.. all the pressers, they say they've made free strides but I dont think you can rush relationships.

Other side is, Goodwin can be a bit negative at times - so perhaps the team wasnt set uo to showcase the likes of dolcek.

Roll on falkirk- just hope we can stay hamstrings injury free

I'm reasonably positive.

Thought the keeper and centre backs looked decent - good. I actually thought strain was better than last season - he had that horror injury at the start of the season, so guess he was always playing catch up... Ferry and strain could be better though. I did think iovu (i think) went charging forwards a few times, lost possession and didnt run to get back- therefore there was a defender missing.

Passing wasn't great overall but we had spell of pressure and you can see there's something there. Up front, I thought sapsford was pretty good up top but wasnt as effective when moved wider. Wingers could do better.

However, a lot of our players haven't played in thst atmosphere before (as well as una strassen) - so maybe a lot for them to take in. I guess they had a real hunger to make a good start to the campaign and tried too hard at times.

Hoping that with a week where we can review the game, work out where una strassens weaknesses are and if the players relax a bit, we will be good.

Healthy respect for una strassen - they are no mugs - but still comfortable we will win away from home

I get that we can't take it for granted but if we are going into a match scared of una strassen, we should throw the towel in.

We've got a manager who can keep the defence tight (generally), we've signed attacking players with a good amount of ability and a support that will be loud as f**k. All we need is for the players to turn up on the day. Get the job done and let the travelling fans party in the 2nd leg knowing that the job is done.

Buzzing my tit's off for this. It's going to be class.

C'mon united

Edit:

According to a European club rankings website i found, the clubs are ranked as follows

Dundee united 330
Una strassen 590
Tns 526
Differdange 523

Dirty dees 403 🤣

On a larger scale, aren't numbers up across the spfl? When did the likes of falkirk ever limit away tickets - or aberdeen?

Possibly people bored of the epl? A reaction post covid? Either way, it is a good look for the league and this should be driven home to sky etc. I think we do have a better product to sell.

So before the real action kicks off on Thursday, who do you predict will be great and who will be a blow out based on what youve seen. Be interesting at the end of the season.

For the record, I hope that jort gets off to a flier - he might now that he will be able to concentrate on being a striker with the improved options out wide and from the middle.

Interesting that st.mirren have both a league 2 team and a ll team. A lot of our young ones would maybe benefit from the experience in the Highland league.

I dont know if theres a financial aspect to this but presuming its minimal, a partnership with 2 would be good.

Out of interest. Has there ever been anything happen with Brian welshs team? We had some sort of partnership with them, didnt we? They changed club colours to tangerine etc.

All I can think of was a group of players came to Tannadice to train once and watch a game?
