That's what I would have said as well but I'm wondering if JG isn't planning to play Pappoe and Camara as a pair. Maybe Thursday night he will.
One thing seems certain though, unless Sibbald starts we will have no UK or Scottish players in the starting line up.

Yeah,as well as young Sam played Bert will be back on Thursday I'm sure. Thought sibbald was decent yesterday actually, good to have options and tough choices to make though. Beats the sh*t out of scraping the barrel to put a team together.

Feel a lot of fans are forgetting how good sevelj was last season, bizarre how many teams I’ve seen without him in it, not just on here !

Like I said it's a really tough call,Camara looks a player too. Sevelj may well get the nod,it's good to have choices though.

Sevelj is a very hardworking player. He closes down quickly and gets a lot of tackles in.
Downside, he dosent have the technical ability to take the ball in tight situations and find a man under pressure. To me always looked like a defender in a midfield role.
As I dont do friendlies though I've no idea, yet, if Pappoe or Camara are better options.

Another season begins..
Time for us to right the wrongs of mypa 47, paul ritchie and a fake adriano, our best chance to progress in europe since then.
Playing in europe in a packed tannadice on a summers night, cant beat it. Hopefully jim has players up for it as much as the fans will be, c'mon the shed!

Kucherenko
Esselink Iovu Keresztes
Strain Sevelj Camara Ferry
Fatah Sapsford Trap
Didn't think much of Pappoe against St J though didn't make the Oldham game and heard a few people say he was superb.
No a big fan of dropping out Player of The Year for the opening game of the season

I think that's the most likely side we'll see starting on Thursday. Harsh on Pappoe and Naamo but we can't start everyone.
Thing is with JG you never quite know who will start apart from the nailed on.

He was comfortable in possession, i'd say 'superb' is a stretch though. He's a tidy player who i think will do well.
Camara actually got us up the pitch a bit more when he come on i thought.

Agreed on Camara, felt the same against St Johnstone that it was clear he had the ability, and probably more important the confidence, to take us 15 or 20 yards up the park and pick a pass at the end of it. I think he will be our key player on Thursday and probably throughout the season.

We all excited about tomorrow?
The 13 year old in me is shitting himself after the trauma of MyPa 47.
So that’s nice.

The team that finished above Una Strassen in their league beat TNS last night 0-1. A warning that we have to take our chances when they come.

Camara looks quite erratic to me so far, clearly lots of skill but not sure I'd be playing him ahead of Vicko who was our most consistent player last season. Him and Pappoe would be a good pairing in there for me.

Has anyone else wondered about this going pear-shaped?
Honestly I'm a blind optimist but have a nagging doubt.
The predictions are all modest, 2-0 seems to be the common scoreline.
Then Shakey has us winning 2-1 but lists the goalie flogging the goal instead of predicting the first goalscorer.
Maybe he should have put Kurechenko (o.g.)
Someone else has it nil-nil which isn't stupid with our fire power.
Only a couple of predictors have us winning comfortably.
Then consider the scoreline last night where the team above Strassen won away from home, doesn't matter it was only TNS, they play in Europe every year.
If TEK allowed me to change my score prediction I would have NDU* 0 Strassen 1. Ist goal Kurechenko (o.g.)
* New Dundee United

I've been very optimistic so far but yes, woke up with a sense of nervousness this morning. In the last 5 years alone, I've seen us beaten by Alloa, Dumbarton, East Fife, Spartans FFS so we're not immune to a freak result.
The bookies (well Sky Bet) now have us at 2/9 so there's definitely a sense that we should be scudding them tonight.
Hopefully it's all just a bit of uncertainty around the new squad along with European night jitters and we'll all relax at 9.30pm after a comfortable, tie winning result!

We're going to batter them, tight first half Utd on top but don't take chances, late goal gives us a 1-0 HT lead, 2nd half Jim makes a couple of changes and we fire in another 4 goals.
5-0 FT tie over.

Our last Euro goal was scored 3 years ago v AZ Alkmaar at Tannadice.
It's just popped up & what a goal it was, a thing of beauty.
61 mins, Levitt 20 yards inside own half plays long ball to Middleton wide right.
Middleton skips past 2 defenders, draws a 3rd, plays a 1-2 with McGrath who had just come on. His return pass is a back heel (following a wee dummy) into the path of Middleton who from 16 yards curls it in to the top left hand corner.
It was a fantastic goal, Euro Conf Lge goal of the season?
Jim should be showing this goal to his new recruits showing them that's what's expected of them.
Sadly that was very much as good as it got. We wouldn't be showing the newbies the 2nd leg.
Of the 21 players listed that night only 2 remain with us, Ross Graham & Kai, who were both unused subbies. The attendance was 10,181

I get that we can't take it for granted but if we are going into a match scared of una strassen, we should throw the towel in.
We've got a manager who can keep the defence tight (generally), we've signed attacking players with a good amount of ability and a support that will be loud as f**k. All we need is for the players to turn up on the day. Get the job done and let the travelling fans party in the 2nd leg knowing that the job is done.
Buzzing my tit's off for this. It's going to be class.
C'mon united
Edit:
According to a European club rankings website i found, the clubs are ranked as follows
Dundee united 330
Una strassen 590
Tns 526
Differdange 523
Dirty dees 403 🤣

If you want to change your score prediction UAE that's fine.
You've got until kick off. Just edit your post. If you don't before kick off I will just take your 1st prediction.
