Dundee United » Killie vs United - LC 2nd Round - Sunday 17th August (3PM) » 18/8/2025 10:11 am

Yep, the contrast is refereeing between the last two domestic games and our Euro ties is very noticeable.

Why is that though?  Why are Scottish refs like this?  Is it just cheating or is it something in the Scottish personality that makes us crap football referees?

Dundee United » Killie vs United - LC 2nd Round - Sunday 17th August (3PM) » 18/8/2025 7:51 am

Where to start- Clancy, fuck me.  So inconsistent, booking our players for challenges but not Killie players for similar ones.  Luca on the keeper in the first half and then Stirton for going for a ball with his foot then the Killie boy had his head down.  Unreal referring performance.

As for United - thought we did ok in the 1st half.
Ferry and Fatah were linking up well.  Fatah very skillful but needs to learn to release the ball quicker at times.

Defending for both goals a farce.  I think at the 2nd, they all thought the ball was going out and going out so hesitated for a second.  Killie didn’t though.

I think the three boys brought in at the back are all good footballers, but maybe not aggressive enough for our game.  I actually think all three if them would be better in a back four alongside Graham.

Lastly, that pitch- get these artificial pitches too fuck.  It’s embarrassing that we have these pitches at our top clubs.

Dundee United » Dundee United vs Rapid Vienna - Thursday 14/8/25 » 16/8/2025 11:25 am

Aye I'd agree with that - that team would give Celtic a right good run for their money.   They were excellent going forward in both games and have some very talented players.

Dundee United » Dundee United vs Rapid Vienna - Thursday 14/8/25 » 15/8/2025 5:13 pm

C'mon folks eh, are we really blaming the boy that plays the music for Fatah missing that pen

He's a professional football player, and yes he's young and probably felt the pressure but c'mon, it was a ba hair away from being a great pen.

Shit happens, better players than Fatah have missed pens.

I know we are all emotional after that game but personal abuse and blaming him for that is a bit uncalled for,

Milne was booked in the first half for doing so, can't have it both ways.

Nah, Keresztes didn’t mean to kick the ball away and the Hearts boy who was taking the throw had already picked up another ball so in essence there were two balls on the pitch.

The Hearts boy getting booked for it was also a joke - a very similar situation as our keeper was going to pick up one of the other balls anyway.

A tough game in store but back much like Rapid, I think their back line can definitely be got at.  Aberdeen missed a couple of absolute sitters on Monday.,

Dundee United » Goodwin contract » 10/8/2025 11:38 am

Not sure if he's on a rolling contract?  But he signed a new contract in Nov 2024 which takes him through to the end of this season.

From the limited times I've saw him play, Dhanda seems a very talented player, wonder why its not worked for him at Hearts.   Perhaps seen as a luxury type player.

Thought Camera was terrible in the first half but came on in the second. We rode our luck at times last night but what a fighting spirit they showed.   Two great goals too.

Strain out for 10 weeks too,so that'll no doubt be January. It's fucking ridiculous how many hamstring injuries we are continually picking up. Wtf is going on in training? 2 more faces before the window closes is nowhere near enough unless we plan to be playing in the fundesliga next season.

Strain got injured in the first few minutes of the Strasen game but played the rest of the game, clearly not his hamstring or he'd never have been able to play on.

Wow if true.  Really decent player but that is mental.

Dundee United » Falkirk vs United - Sunday 3/8/25 (2PM) » 04/8/2025 12:49 pm

In the debate about artificial pitches, I never want to hear again from anybody saying that Falkirk's pitch is one of the good ones.  The amount of times yesterday that players from both teams stood on the ball due to it sticking to the pitch was unreal.  Get these pitches to fuck.

Aside from that I thought that was a massive improvement from us but still lots of work to do.

Dundee United » Una Strassen vs DUFC - Thursday 31st July - 6PM » 01/8/2025 10:14 am

Great to be through but that was a poor performance.  It is early days but...

Camera canna control the ba, keeper looks a bombscare.  Pappoe looked good in the couple of pre-season games I saw him in but he looks way off it since the real ball came out.

Iovo for such a big guy doesn't seem to win many defensive headers and looks rash in the tackle, got up brilliantly for the goal though.  Bert and Keresztes look good though.

Big improvements required from every player involved on Sunday.

Dundee United » Una Strassen vs DUFC - Thursday 31st July - 6PM » 29/7/2025 12:15 pm

Its not just United who don't give updates on injuries these days, pretty much every club no longer does this.

That's the media starting to churn out noise about our non Scots XI on Thursday a piece in tomorrow's Scotsman by some walloper about it.

The money to recruit Scottish players of the level we require to compete, simply isn't there, so what are we meant to do, fill the team with Nicky Clark, Jordan White, Liam Polworth, Cammy Kerr and just be happy if we survive?

I do think there's an imbalance in the squad, but how do you address that when boys can move south for 2 and 3 times what we can offer?

Yep was listening to Sprtsound yesterday and Chic Young and Stephen Craigan both mouthing off about it.  Nobody on the show there to challenge them on it.

Lets take a look at the next time Celtic and Rangers play each other lads and see how many Scottish guys are in both teams.

Absolute cretins.

Dundee United » Dundee United vs Una Strassen - Thursday 24/7/25 » 25/7/2025 9:17 am

Back three, especially Bert were good.   Keeper looked like Birighitti v2.0 in the 1st half a couple of times but much better in the 2nd.

Pappoe looked a yard off the pace all game, Vicko had an off-day.   Camera like Bambi on ice.

Thought Zak was decent and so were Stirton and Sibbald when they came on.

Think that home core you're talking about is 7000+ not 5-6

Disagree, we've consistently sold around the 5500-6000 mark on season tickets for the last 10 years or so and there are always lots of empty seats at most home games regardless of what the attendance the club say is there. IMO there is no way there are 7000 United fans at host home games.  That would be the East Stand and GF full with no empty seats.

In any case that doesn't really matter, my original point was that I was just commenting that I find it interesting some folk only go to 2 or 3 games a season when they clearly have a passion for the club, that was all really.

I myself have been away from Dundee now since 2007 so every game is an away game for me, its expensive but I love it, even when we've been in the Championship  in recent years I've always loved going to games.   I get other folk have other priorities though.

We sold nearly 7000 season tickets last season, and had sold over 6000 by mid-May this season. A quick google search will tell you that.

Yes, I know we sold 6000 by May this year but there is no way we have 7000 fans at the average home game, if we did then pretty much every seat in those stands would be taken at these games and there are lots empty at every game.

Dundee United » Dundee United vs Una Strassen - Thursday 24/7/25 » 24/7/2025 9:39 am

Camara looks quite erratic to me so far, clearly lots of skill but not sure I'd be playing him ahead of Vicko who was our most consistent player last season.  Him and Pappoe would be a good pairing in there for me.

Have to preface this by saying this is not a criticism in any way, just an observation.

We have a core of what, 5-6000 that attend every home game, but in recent years we've filled three sides of the ground for certain games - Fun, Aberdeen and euro games, even when we were in the Championship in recent years we filled three sides for some of the play off games.  Where do the other 3-4000 fans go for the rest of the season?

Its not like these guys are not passionate about the club, I mean just look at the Shed at these games, its the loudest part of the ground.  I know there will be some folk in there from the East Stand and GF but the majority of the fans in there at these games are the ones who come to 4 or 5 games a season.

So why is that?  Cost ?  Lethargy due to the ugly sisters dominating everything?  Boring football?

What could the club be doing to attract these folk to come back to more games?

It really interests me that this happens.   Would be so good if we could fill those three stands for every league game.

Agree with most of that but the new away kit is a template. Millwall have the exact same design for their away kit with Errea.

Aye the shirt might be template ultimately -  but it has the lion incorporated to the design at least so it has some part of the club in it, not just the exact same shirt that Sunday league teams will be wearing ala what Adidas or Nike would give us.

Watt scored some important goals for us in 2023/24, the last minute goal up in Inverness in particular springs to mind.  Think Goodwin managed him very well that season then got rid of him correctly when we went up.

He'll probably score a decent amount for Thistle in the Championship this season IF he decides to put the effort in.

Very glad he is away from Tannadice now.

On Fatah - he looks like a very good player but I always have to temper my expectation when I see a highlights reel as one of the first highlights reels I always remember watching was Roy O'Donovan, thought he looked like he'd score a shed load of goals for us and as we all know, he was utter pish.

Hopefully this guy turns out to be a wee gem though.

Re the boy Hale at County - agree he looks a good player but don't see Aberdeen, Hibs, Hearts falling over themselves to pay over the odds for him.  He'll probably end up in L1 or L2 in England if he leaves County.
