Remember we signed 13 last Summer and it's been widely acknowledged we had the smallest squad (and have just let go of 20 if we are including VDS).

That including big earners like Middleton, Watt, Gallagher, Moult, Docherty etc.

I'd say 5 more is minimum we need for a strong squad that can actaully do well in all comps.

Agree to some extent. Don’t know if 5 will happen. Last year we signed 13, 3 or 4 didn’t work out, Jort, Odiddy, Babunski. Reduce the inbound flops you increase squad size.

Emphasis on strong squad. I’m happy to see lesser number come in provided we bring in quality. Not to mention Academy guys coming through including SCH, Stirton.

Imperative minimum though - additional striker + LWB

+ get rid of the permanent injury cloud that hovers over St. Andrews, be a help.

I get what you're saying Shakey, and i think we can all get on board with the 'quality over quantity' philosophy.

But that only works over a season if your back-up players are also of a good quality. Our whole bench recently has been Academy kids who Goodwin will never play currently (bar perhaps Owen Stirton).

Goodwin himself bemoaned us having the smallest squad last season.

We are again leaving ourselves so short in some areas of the squad.

For instance we just got rid of 6 Strikers (Dalby, Moult, Watt, Paton, VDS, MacLeod), we've signed 2.

We need more attacking players. We still have very little options there to mix things up or play a different way.

And the games are gonna come thick 'n' fast, starting NOW.
 

 
Not disagreeing with you about our need for Strikers,but Watt and McLeod took no part in last season whatsoever and VDS and Paton may as well not have either as they contributed zero goals between them. Given we have Watters and Sapsford along with Stirton then one more would be sufficient I'd say,and would leave us more options than last season. Of course it remains to be seen if any of them can step up and fill Dalby’s boots. I'd like more cover at fullback and attacking midfield also.

My point was more we have got 6 Striker's off the wage bill. One of them a massive wage (for us), and two others we have received a (modest) fee for.

That should have (in theory) freed up a good bit of money to let us get in more options, which you agree yourself we need more of.

I wasn't talking about last season's options, i'm talking about attacking options for this season going forward.
 

 
Yeah I get your point about wages,but of course I've no idea whatsoever how much the new recruits are on and how much wage budget is already used up. The tax bill won't help either,but I am in full agreement with you that we need more bodies in ASAP,but it's likely only 1 of them really needs to be a striker. Especially if we want Stirton to get his opportunity this season. I genuinely think we are still about half a dozen short,especially as we seem so injury prone. I guess we can only hope.

It’s a sickener for the boy. He looks a real good player. If he is gonna be out long term, Fuchs is a good shout. If there is any hope of getting Stephenson back, we need to be battering Liverpool’s door down today to try and get an answer from them. We need him in for next Thursday.

If, as expected, Pappoe’s out for months, we need 2 centre midfielders, another winger, a striker and a left back to back up Ferry.

Strain got injured in the first few minutes of the Strasen game but played the rest of the game, clearly not his hamstring or he'd never have been able to play on.
