Could’ve easily lost that on another day. That guy Cooke is decent for them and what I feared beforehand. Still, happy to finally get a win and no wake up at 5:30 for nothing.

Equally, we could have been 3 up at half time....

Agreed. I thought we played really well for the first half, particularly for the first half an hour or so (up until McNulty's tame shot when clean through). At least we rallied after the lapse after half time and losing the goal which was encouraging.

And more importantly, I won the 50/50 and ended up £410 richer at the end.

The lad has done nothing for the last few years.

Better options out there.

Apart from blasting a hat-trick against us last April, of course.

And rag-dolling the laddie we've just sold to Aston Villa for loads of ££££££.

It's not about who's better, it's about the different type of dimension a big, physical striker would give us. Always and Tam might not like it because they have dreams of playing everything on the deck like some sort of Man City of the north, but in Scottish football, having a target man get give you an outball if plan a of playing on the deck isn't working, like on Tuesday night when boys refused to risk passing the ball into midfield so just passed it around the back four/five whilst boys like Pawlett and Fuchs were trying control simple passes and the ball was actually spinning over their heads.

Freeman in for smith, isn’t ready yet according to courts

That's what I'd be playing as well. What was Liam Smith's injury? I know he's training but his recovery has taken an age.

That's some money for Smith. The club have done well. It's difficult to judge the laddie since some of his game time has been out of position. He looked outstanding against Motherwell last season, albeit in a game that carried no pressure. He was decent at Celtic Park this season but struggled against Kyle Lafferty last season. As a centre back he's defintely got something in the way be reads the game. However, I think Villa are going to have to seriously work on his fitness. In too many games he has played this season he's looked completely devoid of energy or urgency (Hearts 5th goal). At Ibrox he was blowing out of his arse after about 10 minutes and he was caught on the ball every time he had it.

Not forgetting clear redemption arcs for Tori and Robby. They were the most interesting characters in the series. Wouldn't be surprised if Tori is preggers mind you. Reckon Robby did the deed in the front of the Ferrari. Big question is how will Sam take the news when she finds out she was cheated, no doubt either from her mum or Tori herself when she tries to reach out to her? Miguel's jealously of Robby might make him easy to manipulate as well. Thought Miguel was the least interesting character in this series but it was genuinely heartbreaking for him in episode 8. Do you get Coors Banquets in Scotland????

Most of the 1st episode of the new series has been leaked online. Johnny and Daniel's joint efforts at training are predictably disastrous

Article in the Express saying Smith, Levitt, Pawlett and McNulty all will be back when football resumes. Levitt's mum has also posted on Arabs Anonymous FB group saying he'll be back and the rumours were a load of shite. Biamou was also pictured on Instagram at training yesterday at the RPC at Caird Park.

Who says Christmas isn't the time for miracles???

Do feel Utd could have easily dispelled a lot of this with a bit more info on the injuries and some sort of rough timescales for players returning.

Seen it yesterday. Loved it. Did justice to old characters. Probably the first decent MCU movie since Endgame.

Was reading a article last week talking about pandemics from late 1800s which they reckon were the source of what is now considered to be one of the common cold viruses. At the time it was horrendous but a virus's ultimate goal is to survive (killing everyone is not good for a virus) so eventually this one mutated into a much milder form of itself that people could live with. Hopefully that is what we are seeing with Covid.

I thought Mochrie was poor yesterday. Slowed us down on the rare occasions we went forward. Seems to spend too much time trying to look like a footballer rather than actually just doing it. At one point we were on the break 2nd half unusually with men forward and he was in their half with space to drive forward with the ball but he stopped, turned and looked about a couple of times (by which point Hibs had got players back) then tried a cross field pass to Sporle (which wasn't even a difficult ball to play) but instead found a Hibs player about 10 yards away from Sporle and left us exposed with men forward.

Think his recent improvement has been the  result of being played in a much more advanced position just off the striker. Tam seemed to have this notion that Glass would be better playing as an orthodox central midfielder, even starting some as the deep lying one but barring the Hibs game at Easter Road he's looked like a fish out of water in that position. Tbh, he can count himself lucky he lasted 42 mins at Fir Park, I'd have hooked him after he flogged their first goal. He gave the ball away every time he had it that night and was completely overwhelmed by their bigger, quicker and stronger midfielders. Anyway, he can count himself unlucky not to start yesterday imho and his goal was top class and reminiscent of the type he used to score every week when he was on loan at Cove.

The young players are not making the impact that im sure TC was hoping for.
Apperre, Chalmers, Glass, Mochrie, Meekinson for a number of reasons have made little or no impact.

Agree. We're in a weird situation where we appeared to be banking on these laddies putting pressure on the experienced players and playing a fair amount of games but none of them, bar Freeman have offered anything in games. Normally, you expect young laddies to come in for 3-4 games before their form shades but Glass, Chalmers, Mochrie and even Smith have looked completely out of their depth both physically and tactically even playing one or two games. And yet despite this we are offering most of these laddies 3 year contracts. Glass and Chalmers will be 24-25 by the time these contracts run out. The two of them haven't played 25 games between them by age 21-22. It feels like they are in a comfort zone where they are on long contracts and don't appear to be really feeling the pressure to be pushing for the first team. The club are doing a lot of talking up, but none appear to be walking the walk. This is impacting on the 1st team who appear to know they've not got real competition for their places and have dropped a level.

This is not McKinnon, Ferguson, Connolly, McLaren, Cleland etc. or Souttar, Russell, Armstrong and Gauld.

Dundee United » County v Utd - Sat Nov 27th » 28/11/2021 10:23 am

I fell asleep before half time and missed our goal. That tells it's own story about the fayre on show yesterday. We are pretty devoid of ideas without Levitt and when you add in Fuchs being missing it meant we couldn't keep the ball and we couldn't win it back even if we did give it away. Agree about Pawlett and Niskannen being off the boil. The only problem is when Chalmers, Mochrie etc have been given the chance to stake a claim they've offered nothing. The January transfer window is becoming more and more important. A striker and a couple of creative players wouldn't go amiss and punt a few of the younger ones out on loan if they are not going to put pressure on the first XI.

A review of how we are training wouldn't go amiss either. The amount of training ground injuries we are getting is becoming a real problem.
