Finishing 6th, when we were sitting 9 points clear with 5 to play, is serious grounds for questioning the managers position, even from his most ardent fans.
It’s hardly the manager’s fault that players are injured.
Well that's fair, however (and I quite like Goodwin, so this isn't just putting the boot in) we're down to the bare bones because of injury and recruitment shortcomings.
Maybe digressing a bit here but....
All ifs and buts at the moment, I would've bitten your hand off at the start of the season for this league position, still having a crack at Europe and maybe it's just a case of the season just levelling out, but to be in third/fourth for long chunks of the season, to drop to sixth would be deflating.
The talk from all at the club at the moment seems to be an acceptance that we're punching above our weight, lucky to be there etc
It comes over as quite defeatist, almost a hark back to McLean days and the corner shop v supermarket talk, 'just be glad to be here'
Just feel we should be a bit more positive about coming up, doing so well, talk ourselves up without being cocky, it's a bit annoying that you pick up a paper, click on a link and that's the narrative.

Glen Middleton being offered a deal on the back of having a 'fantastic season'
Anyone checked what they're putting in the water at St Andrews, and can I have some?

Ferry
Strain
Sevelj
Graham (probably)
Definite starters on the books, anyone else under contract will be squad players/bench warmers at best.
Big job for those in recruitment,

I rarely go to games v them, someone else gets the use of my season ticket.
Some might seen that as a loser attitude, or weak, I seen it as sensible.
Going yesterday was always going to be the equivalent of coming home to find the neighbour you hate banging your wife and instead of booting fuck out of them, you just stand, watch and give his balls a tickle.
Used to really enjoy games v them, always a great game even if we did mostly come out the wrong side, but it was an entertaining game of football, it's pointless shooty in now.
Over the course of the season these guys have ran though brick walls, given us their all, showed great attitude and resilience, but for some reason v them, we're beaten the moment the fixtures are announced.

We could easily ship 5 or 6 with our best team out, all knocking their pan in, If Celtic fancy it, they'll score as many as they like, that's the reality.
|'d have dropped Ferry as well, he's a yellow away from a ban.

Moult was pivotal in getting us up, but if most of us are being honest, his injury concerns were a worry when he extended last season. He was probably due a deal/promised one, it hasn't really harmed us, but it appears we've learned from it.
Good luck in where you end up next unless it Dundee, or Saints, or anybody we'll face ever again.

Phone in seek, take the 0-3.
I'm afraid we'll be blown away on Saturday, probably a sore one 4 or 5 nil.

If he's not getting a new deal, the manager will have someone in mid to replace him, bar the January window recruitment has been more hit than miss.
Interesting times ahead.

Also, every team will be able to call on subjective VAR decisions going against them, but an injury time penalty not being awarded in the 2-2 game v Dundee and the Dalby goal being chopped off v Hibs, which we later got apologies for, could prove to be be huge.

Celtic win today and 5th is 100% guaranteed Europe. We are almost 100% guaranteed Europe.
With us basically in Europe, get the shackles off and really go for 3rd.The shackles were taken off and we got pumped by a poor Dundee team. Shackles were then put back on and we managed to get 3 good results to get us top 6.
Free flowing, attacking football doesn't always mean glorious victory.
There's a balance to be struck, we play our usual game, the best we might get is 5th, we're already going to be in a position come Saturday, where we could be 4 or 6 behind Hibs, or 1 or 3 behind Aberdeen.
Celtic won't down tools immediately, they'll want to beat The Huns, but beyond that we can't rely on them to equal things out.
We're going to actively have take the game to Aberdeen and Hibs, which we did in recent games at Tannadice, but we were more pragmatic away.
The difference between 5th and 3rd could be absolutely massive for the future of the club, this is the make money have a bit of fun route the Ogren's wanted.
Would be a right pisser to get one tie in some backwater where it could be potentially 4 great trips.
Dundee United » Utd Loan Watch » 15/4/2025 10:24 pm |
We can go round in circles on this again.
If the academy is that expensive to run, that we must sell any prospect at the first opportunity then why bother?
Of those that don't attract bids, how many make a significant amount of appearances or contributions? Ross Graham has been in and around our squad for years, but for me he's not a nailed on first XI player (yet)
Fotheringham did well enough in the championship, if our loanees aren't making significant waves in lower divisions, maybe the next waves, should be waves goodbye.
For every Gauld or Souttar, we picked up a Robertson, McKay-Steven or Armstrong from other teams, we got Swanson, Conway, Gomis for pennies.
I'd like to see a proper break down, how much it costs v how much it produces, how much of it is funded, do we have to do it, is it a requirement?
Dundee United » Split Fixtures » 15/4/2025 10:13 pm |
United fans being in the shed helps the atmosphere, but.......there's a lot more seats in the Jerry Kerr/Fair Play we can sell to our own if need be..
I don't think the Police would want a mix of fans on that touchline.
Giving them only the Shed, gives them the lowest possible allocation.

Daily Record reporting it as well.

I'm not going to a title party at our own ground, where Celtic fans, have been helped by my fellow fans to obtain tickets for our end and then come full time they get handed access to our PA system and get to have a big celebration.
Any other league in the world would have no issues sending them to, or getting them to play their closet rivals at home.
Specky, shite haircutted Doncaster shitebag.
Dundee United » Luca Stephenson » 14/4/2025 2:49 pm |
If the reasoning is that Stephenson has been playing through the pain barrier since Xmas, so now his season is done, what damage could 5 more games do if we managed him through them?
So maybe it taking 2+2 = 5, but Liverpool want hm back, fit and ready to try and sell on given the attention he's been getting up here.

He was a snidey, dirty sleekit cunt of a player.
Could've done with him in the midfield ahead of Paton or Rankin, swap out a few players that were nice and bring in a couple of bastards and we win that St Johnstone final.

Dundee United » United vs St.Johnstone - Saturday 12th April » 09/4/2025 2:36 pm |
3 points seals Europe I reckon. (Celtic will win the cup)
Currently, with an 8 and 9 point gap between us and the teams that can make top 6, then winning on Saturday could be huge.
I don't expect us to go all kamikaze, but take the game to St Johnstone, we're at home, show why we're pushing for 3rd and they're rock bottom.
If we take 3 points, then a worst case scenario is that we lose all 5 games post split and Hearts need to win three, Motherwell or St Mirren win three, draw one to push us into 6th and that's basing it on winning outcomes, for Hearts/Well/St Mirren this weekend.
We could have a 10 point gap over 6th.
Just be a bit more braver than we usually are.
