What XI and formation would you deploy for Saturday?

Phone in seek, take the 0-3.

I'm afraid we'll be blown away on Saturday, probably a sore one 4 or 5 nil.

Play the reserves, we don't have an earthly.

The big game is against St Mirren.

If finishing 5th is the extent of our ambition then the St Mirren game is important but after Celtic we have Hibs, is that not important?
I'm one these eternal optimists that believes we can get a result against either of the Glasgow two and we got a point in a hard fought rearguard action 0-0 v Celtic at Tannadice in December. So it's not impossible.  Unlikely yes.

When we set up to defend against Celtic they normally find a way to goal and without a good outball option and a way to attack them it makes getting a goal difficult. I'd be tempted to try something a bit different this time. I'd start 4411 with Trapanovski told to stay right on top of Carter Vickers the whole time. Middleton behind Trapanovski for pace on the break out. Fine, if it doesn't work bring Dalby on.

Walton
Strain Manny Graham Ferry
Svelj Doc Sibbald Babunski
..........Middleton
................Trapanovski

What have we got to lose? Well there's goal difference to consider. Could be important if we go level with Aberdeen into the last game. Dare to dream.

Leaving Dalby out would be a huge call but can definitely see your thinking. He doesn't have pace and the Celtic defenders are excellent in the air.

I was a bit tongue in cheek with the play the reserves comment, but it'll take a hell of a performance to get anything. I suppose we can take some inspiration from the fact Celtic failed to score in two games across 180 mins at Tannadice and McDiarmid.

I'd love it if we could take the approach Dundee did when they drew 3-3 with Celtic, properly went toe to toe with them. Clearly that would be a recipe for disaster though and our only real hope is to keep it super tight and try and show some bravery in possession when we do have it.

By far our best ( maybe only) chance of scoring against them is through long throws and set pieces.
Celtic are good at many things but I wouldn't agree that their defenders are good in the air.

Agreed.  Play our best team and try to take the game to them as much as makes sense.

Aim 1: To absolutely minimise any reduction in goal difference.

With that in mind draw or at worst going down 1 v 0 especially bearing in mind SSB's play Hibs and superior  goal diff v SSB's is worth a point in the wash up.
We've shown we can nick the draw with our defensive masterclass earlier in the year and a draw wins them the title.

Aim 2: Win.   What we've successfully done all year - tight at the back hit on the counter for the full 90+. Can't see why Jim would be telling them anyyhing else.   Oh aye and give Jota a right good kicking (no that I could possibly say that nowadays).

And remember oldie but goldie - champion team beats team of champions.
