What would be your XI and formation for Saturday?
Offline
Walton
Strain
Gallagher
Graham
Ferry
Sevelj
Docherty
Sibbald
Trapanovski
Dalby
Middleton

Seems clear we are a better team whenever we keep it tight and hit teams on the break. Not what I want us to do, but it gets us results.
So I would go similar to last 2 games. And similar subs to Tynecastle after an hr. If the game is tight. Maybe Luca at right back instead of Strain?
And absolutely press St Johnstone high up the pitch for the full 90 mins. They lose a goal a game from pissing about at the back.

This for me too if they are all fit. Possibly Stephenson for Sibbald though, or Sevelj if not fit. Manny for Graham if not fit.

The fans may not like it but we need to play it tight on Saturday.
This game has the makings of a low scoring or maybe 0-0 all over it.
The % game gives us far more chances of winning playing a more defensive formation.
I doubt JG has erased the Dundee debacle from his mind yet.
If all fit.
Walton
Strain
Gallagher
Adeboyga
Graham
Ferry
Docherty
Stephenson
Sibbbald
Sevelj
Dalby

Sevelj (if fit)
TBIS
Paton (Moult if required as an impact sub).
I would only play Sevelj if he is fit, if not play Sibbald and if Graham wasn't fit to play last Sunday then it's highly doubtful he will be fit 6 days later.
That above should be enough to beat StJ, another massive 5 games follow, we need all our players available.

Courier saying Graham and Sevelj have been sent for scans. Sounds ominous. More victims of the 'Squid Game' training regime we seem to have at St Andrews.

3 points seals Europe I reckon. (Celtic will win the cup)
Currently, with an 8 and 9 point gap between us and the teams that can make top 6, then winning on Saturday could be huge.
I don't expect us to go all kamikaze, but take the game to St Johnstone, we're at home, show why we're pushing for 3rd and they're rock bottom.
If we take 3 points, then a worst case scenario is that we lose all 5 games post split and Hearts need to win three, Motherwell or St Mirren win three, draw one to push us into 6th and that's basing it on winning outcomes, for Hearts/Well/St Mirren this weekend.
We could have a 10 point gap over 6th.
Just be a bit more braver than we usually are.

Should be enough to beat SJ is dangerous talk.
They have tightened up at the back in the last few weeks and are playing for their futures.
The two previous games were both very tight affairs that could gave gone either way. It will be the same on Saturday.

In no way am I thinking this game will be easy, but that's what I think he will have available and imo it should be enough to beat them mate.
United by the odd gaol.

Stick with what has worked. I do think the high press is key on Saturday as whilst Saints have tightened up at the back that is still there Achilles heel. Show them a little respect, work hard and we'll get the win.
It would be terrific to go into the top 6 with 50 points and at least an 8 point lead over 6th place. We'd very likely move up to 4th too.
I'd keep the same starting XI v Hearts but swap out Moult for either Middleton or Babunski. I'd thought about swapping in Sibbald for Campbell, but Campbell's only decent strength that I have noticed thus far is his engine in a high press so going back to my first point, I'd start him and tell him to give us his best 45 minutes.

Same lineup as Saturday for me, assuming Sevelj and Graham are still out.
Not a massive fan of Moult and Dalby up top in terms of attacking threat but they are both a handful for the oppositions centrebacks physically and I reckon this one will be battle. Not convinced by Paton, and I've resigned myself to the fact that VDS will never score for United before he is likely punted in the Summer.

Been proved time and again now that Moult and Dalby partnership isn't working.
I'd start Middleton, he's brought more consistency to his game and been chipping in with goals and assists.
For me Moult is an impact sub while Dalby is fit.
It's a massive opportunity to cement 5th before the split.
We need to be right on our game and just concentrate on getting the points, see where we sit come Sunday night.

Haha Jort is a bit of a cult hero despite everything.
If he scores before leaving he's going to send the fans crazy 😁

Graham definitely out for the St J game and Sevelj is a maybe, depending on how he recovers, according to the Courier.

Exacto. Unless Sevelj fit.

Knowing how cautious Goodwin is when it comes to players carrying knocks, and considering we have yet another two week break after this game (christ, do we ever not these days?), i think, almost certainly we won't see Graham or Sevelj feature today. He'll won't both back 100% for the tougher Post-split games.
In light of their omission's i'd go -
.........................Walton.....................
Strain....Adegboyega..Gallagher...Ferry
....Stephenson..Docherty...Sibbald...
.....Middleton.....Dalby...Trapanovski....
Subs - Richards, Cleall-Harding, Babunski, Moult
VDS, Campbell, Fiorini, Paton, Fotheringham

Thank you Jim Goodwin. We did the job yet again today. Best manager in years.

Some people talk shite tbh. The only issue with Docherty is his fitness, absolutely no doubts about his ability and importance to this team. Keep him fit and 3rd place is absolutely there to be had.

It was good to see SCH have a solid home debut.
After about 5mins Sidebi caught him from behind a few minutes later Sam sent him flying onto the track beside the dugouts.
That will do for me.

Had to leave 25 mins early cause I made an arse of something but that was 65 minutes of eyebleed football. However, another 3 points in the bag, tied for 3rd and 8 points clear of 6th is an absolute fantastic position with 5 games left.
Got to say I thought SCH actually had a bit of a mare in the first half lost a few 50-50s but appeared to grow in to the game as it went on. Can't blame him at all for being nervous when likely the entire family were there this week and he would've known well in advance he was starting. 2 clean sheets in 2 starts is all that matters.
Feels disgusting wanting Rangers to do us a favour tomorrow.. 🤢

Who says he’s shite? Folk probably take issue with his fitness woes, but don’t think anyone would call him shite.
He’s shown in the last 3 games why we need to take the gamble on his fitness and give him a new contract.
