United vs St.Mirren - Saturday 10th May

What XI and formation for Saturday's big match?

Re: United vs St.Mirren - Saturday 10th May

Courier saying Adeboyega (groin), Gallagher and Cleall-Harding (hamstring) all doubtful and Graham (hamstring) out for the season.

Too much commotion

Re: United vs St.Mirren - Saturday 10th May

Walton

Strain , Gallagher, Sevelj, Ferry

Middleton, Sibbald, Docherty, Trapa

Moult, Dalby

I think Gallagher will play through it, my word  really need him.

Will Ferry needs to avoid a yellow card, one caution and he's out for the season.  Step forward Steven McLean, I bet it will be for absolutely nothing.

Re: United vs St.Mirren - Saturday 10th May

Don't suppose Louis Moult could do a turn at centre half like what Jon Daly did back in the day?

Re: United vs St.Mirren - Saturday 10th May

Walton

Strain Sevelj Ferry

Sibbald Docherty Campbell

Trapa Dalby Moult VDS

You score 1 we score 2........ you score 2, we score 3

Before anyone gets their knickers in a twist, I'm not serious.

Might be forced into something creative as we are out of option I think with Mani and Graham out for the season ( I'm guessing that Mani is done).

We will certainly need height to match up at set pieces against O Hara and Mandron.

I hope that some United fans recognise the limitations available to the manager and don't go overboard if we don't get a result. I won't hold my breath all the same.

Re: United vs St.Mirren - Saturday 10th May

It’s getting to that stage where he might need to play there 🤣

Think our small squad is really catching up with us now, loosing holt and Stephenson along with Graham has killed us. Would have been perfect for young Charlie dewar to potentially getting some game time but can’t because of that stupid rule- heard that is possibly changing next season where a play can go between parent and loan club. If ferry gets booked this weekend that’s his season finished who knows who replaces him

We are missing sevelj badly in the middle of the park but by the sounds of it he’s our only fit “centre half”, Gallagher will play through what ever he’s got I would think which is testament to him.

Walton
Strain sevelj Gallagher ferry
Campbell/babunski docherty sibbald
Middleton dalby trap

Draw effectively gets us a game in Europe

We could go 235 like the 60's?
Joking apart this is a disaster. If nothing else it might get some sleeves rolled up and a siege mentality.

He plays like a defender from the front, so actually wtf not?

At least he'd be a better option in the air in terms of maybe winning headers.

Re: United vs St.Mirren - Saturday 10th May

These next three games will tell you a lot about Jim Goodwin.

I mean I think I already know what type of Manager he is, but this type of injury crisis is where really good Manager's prove themselves to be just that.

Either tactically or in terms of motivating the players. Or both.

Re: United vs St.Mirren - Saturday 10th May

Can we play lads like Dewar, Constable and Stirton as their loans have expired? If not then we attack, attack, attack.

                  Walton

  Strain Sevelj Docherty Ferry

          Campbell Sibbald

Middleton Dalby Moult Trapanovski

Punt the ball forward, press and push high up the park, play down the channels. I have a feeling that Gallagher and maybe Manny might play through the pain barrier though.

Turkey went 424 in one of their Euro finals matches, it was brilliant to watch.
Think I'd be behind the sofa if we tried it.

We’re close to being completely fucked.

.

Frustratingly, no we can't.

They would need to have been recalled before some cut-off point in March.

Thankfully that rule is getting scrapped next season, meaning if we need to play youngsters at this time of the season we will be able too.

Not that it helps us in the here and now.

We are however just look at some of the posts above and a.wee quick squint on social media will tell you that some of our fans blind to the circumstances we are in.

We have been successful against St Mirren this season through matching them up, almost man for man. We did get a bit of joy in January when Goodwin made an early sub in the first half and brought on some pace.

Either way it's going to be extremely difficult again this Saturday with what we have to select from.

That says it all mate, that's what we are up against this weekend

One thing I think I've had enough of though is VDS, I know he a bit of a cult hero with some of the young guys but I don't want to see him again.

He will for many a year be a regular in with the likes of Rabbitch and  Birighitti in our worst ever 11.

Nah mate, VDS at the back makes sense. If it goes well, Jim's a genius. If it goes shite, boo GTF Goodwin. Everyone's a winner.

I hear ya, if he can get something out of that plank of wood then he would indeed be a genius.
