I think we'll end up comfortably 8th or even 7th which would be excellent. A lot of people are saying we'll open up a bit more once we are statistically safe. Will we though? To be fair, up until the Killie game we were quite attractive to watch.

The issue I have is what then? Will it be the same next season?  Another season of grim, safety first football until we stay up again? Fuck that, it's supposed to be entertainment that we are paying for not a war of attrition.

If MM thinks he needs more of his own players in to progress will the budget be there for that? Covid may have curtailed teams like us and their ambitions for the next few years to come.

Yeah so I'm guessing he will be back with us now then.

The Irish season is summer football so it could be finished now.

The good thing about that team imho is that there are plenty of players with pace who can get us up the park quickly. When we played against St Mirren we looked slower than a week in jail until McMullan came on.

Pity it won't be that though. Connolly, Harkes, Pawlett and Clark will all play no doubt.

First league game in 2 weeks (and a 2 week break after this too). So a chance for the players to knock their pan in and then enjoy another period of rest and recovery.

Seems like a big game that we really should be looking to register a win.

Will Logan Chalmers be back? Hopefully. He certainly is a player who offers us a 'spark'.

What team would you chaps like to see? Mine would be (injury permitting).

......................Siegrest......................
Smith....Edwards...Reynolds..Robson
McMullan...Butcher...Harkes...Sporle
..............Shankland..Clark........

Subs - Mehmet, McNulty, Power, Fuchs
Connolly, Bolton, Pawlett, Appere, Neilson

I'd go for that team but with Fuchs in for Harkes and McNulty in for Clark.

Ian Ferguson v Sheep at Dens in 88
Paddy Connolly v Fun at Dens in 1992
Jason Scotland v Hibs
Grant Brebner v Hearts last minute
Both goals against Oldco when they died in the Scottish Cup
All three goals against Newco
Dods v Celtic
But the winner surely is Ciftci v Newco at Ibrox

Hoti is self-isolating due to being a close contact with another Forfar player who later ended up being diagnosed with COVID. Nobodys fault. Seemingly ok to come back this week though.

Thon Bolton shouldn't be anywhere near the starting XI. He's done nothing for months. Harkes has run out of chances as well imho. Would also be a novelty to see McNulty, our highly paid new striker, actually get played as a striker, as opposed to a left midfielder where he's basically been played since he arrived, it is a pity since he's actually got a bit of pace and energy, which Clark and Shankland clearly playing together do not and are no use isolated up front trying to press or run in behind, simply too slow to do it. The team is crying out for pace and boys who will actually beat people and get us up the park quickly. I'd like to see:

Benji

Smith
Edwards
Reynolds
Robson

McMullan
Fuchs
Powers/Butcher
Sporle

Clark
McNulty

Can't wait for him getting dragged out kicking and screaming from the White House in January.

Based on what we have available I'd like:

Benji

Smith
Edwards/Connolly (not fussed either way)
Reynolds
Robson

Bolton (needs to start showing something)
Harkes (ditto)
Powers
McMullan

McNulty
Shankland

Fuchs to hopefully get off the bench 2nd half and score a screamer

Are you member? Have you contacted them to ask?

I did, they said it was not an 'official' meeting and had not taken notes but would put sone sort of recap up. They then said the club were putting minutes up but neither have appeared.

Ogrens statement on the tully website last night should have been released on the official site before there.

I know the club and fans have got more important things to worry about just now but there was a supporters liaison group over 2 weeks ago now and there are still no minutes or even an overview of what was said from either the club or the Foundation (despite both promising over a week ago that something would be put out) or any other fans group present as far as I am aware. Anecdotally, I heard that the main topic of conversation in a 2.5 hour meeting was the clubs dreadful communication.

It is beyond parody.

Now here's a question:
When limited numbers of fans are allowed back would season ticket holders accept 500 walk-ups going instead of them to provide much-needed revenue for the club?

Agree that his honesty is really good. If he thinks the Scottish or UK Government are going to help them out he's in for a big disappointment though. Football has never got a brass farthing from the government. That wouldn't be a problem until you see sports like athletics and cycling getting big sums thrown at them in preparation for the Olympics.

LOL, it was a bit tongue in cheek although I would have been tempted to boo had I been there on Saturday.

What is interesting is that Mellon and many fans seem to think this dire standard and style is the best this group can produce whilst other fans (myself included) think this team can produce better and yet we are the ones being labelled as negative.

With Dundee being placed into Tier 3 restrictions I doubt we'll see fans back at Tannadice for a while yet.
Pity too, because I'm itching to give the hopeless bastards on the park and in the dugout absolute dogs abuse if we continue to suffer shite like last Saturday.

Ryan Edwards is no better than him anyway. Big Rachid Bouhenna would be miles better too due to being able to play out from the back.

Rumour on EF that he's rank rotten and was not an MM signing. I know a Forfar director so I'll no doubt hear how good/bad he is in the next few weeks/months.

Thing is, points wise we are not that badly off.

11 points with one game of this round left is far from disastrous. If we can repeat that in each of the next two rounds of games then 33 points going into the split and even 5 points should keep us up comfortably. Even as recently as 3-4 weeks ago against St Mirren and the first half against Hamilton we looked like we'd have more than enough about us to achieve this.

The worry is that if we continue to drop off performance wise like the last 3 weeks then we'll be sucked right in to a relegation fight which we don't look up for. Mickey Mellon's interviews and body language have been horrendous recently too which can't be helping anyone.

What do we need?

1. A settled defence. A back four (imho) that we stick with for a number of games. Until Mellon needlessly decided to change to a 3 against Hamilton we looked ok with Edwards and Reynolds. Edwards is limited but is clearly better in a back four as the right cb. I always feel better with Reynolds as a natural left footer in there. Personally, I'd try Butcher and Reynolds though. So:
Smith-?-Reynolds-Robson

2. Getting someone in midfield who can dictate play and shows for the ball from the defence. Hopefully Fuchs does this. I'd like to see Powers in there too. I strongly suspect if Robbie Neilson was still in charge Powers would have played most games. Butcher doesn't look like he wants the ball and Mellon seems to want to push Harkes further up the park which is having no effect other than leaving us really exposed when play breaks down.

3. Working on crossing in training. I have NEVER seen a football team put in so few crosses as we do despite having a striker who is the best at finding space in the box between defenders and finishing in Scotland. When we do cross it, it is woeful. Having McNulty there will only exacerbate this problem since he is basically Shankland MK2. Bolton, McMullan, Chalmers and Sporle. Which two play needs to be dictated by which ones ca
