Not our first defeat this season, but the first time we have been comprehensively outplayed.

An absolutely appalling display. One shot on target all night and Motherwell passed us off the park all night and looked fitter, stronger and faster.

Goodwin has to take his fair share of the blame for that tonight. The wrong starting XI selected tonight and the wrong formation.

Yet another game where we worryingly don't turn up at all in the first 45 minutes. This is starting to become unacceptable. You can't just expect to turn up for one half of football and expect to get anywhere as a club.

My player ratings on a bitterly disappointing night -

Kucherencko 6 - Didn't do anything particularly wrong tonight. Couldn't do anything about either goal. Some poor distribution however.

Ferry 5 - Garbage tbqh. A great block on the line to spare a Motherwell goal but was all over the place at other points. Beaten easily on the wing for their 1st and his corners, free kicks and even throw in's were very poor all night long. He is playing nowhere near his ability at the moment.

Esselink 6 - Poor night from Bert.

Keresztes - 6 - His poorest game in a United shirt. Very slack pressing down for their 2nd goal. He is a big strong boy, he has to be braver there.

Stephenson 6 - Thought he was quite poor tonight. Should have absolutely buried our only good chance of the night. Was outmuscled a few times in 50/50's. Possibly his worst game for us.

Sevelj 6 - His poor form this season continues. Sat far too deep for my liking (i know he would have been asked to do this btw). Nowhere near as effective for the team as he was last season when he was a Warrior most weeks.

Sibbald 6 - Stupidly sacrificed at half time as he was sitting on a yellow card. Given his recent form this was far too reactionary and should have been kept on for awhile longer as he has grown into the last two games massively in the 2nd half and been influential. Unless of course he got an injury.

Sapsford and Sevelj will probably play but both can count themselves lucky if they do since they've been poor for weeks. Sapsford's free kick was his only contribution on Saturday.

I was at hospo yesterday and Moeller came up at ft but the compere said he couldn't stay long because he was full of the cold. It must be going round the club. I wouldn't be surprised if that's why Strain was absent too

This for me too. We need to match them physically and for energy. Can't have any passengers on Saturday.

Can't recall who we parted company with but Brandon Forbes was definitely one, any others you can think of?

His wife didn't stay up here first time round, she didn't go out to Saudi either. He's got that enormous tax bill as well if he comes back before next July too.

I take it since Stirton is out until the end of the month that he's not eligible for a loan until January?

Read a lot of comments putting Saturday down as a bad day at the office. Personally, it's not a phrase I like since it allows people to avoid taking responsibility for the result and performance. I think there are always things players, manager and fans could have done better.

The atmosphere was flat all game, people appeared to turn up expecting us to roll them over (me included). I've lost count of how many Utd games where this scenario has played out the the next game after a good performance. We needed the atmosphere to replicate Tuesday.

The manager's changes were wrong for me. He needs to switch Fatah & Dolcek if they are getting no joy as inverted wingers rather than sub them. Sapsford was poor, should have been off for Moeller & we could try some crosses into him. Instead of punts from chs or full backs 30 yards out.

Finally, not for the first time v Killie we saw some players go into their shells when things weren't going their way and Killie started mixing it. That LeBron James haddy up front was leaving boots in all game, not once did anyone go through him.

Similarly, David Watson (who is everything we need to start aiming for with our academy players) was getting tore in all over the pitch, not once did anyone actually give him anything back.

Was it it right to say we could have played all night and not scored? Not really. You knew the penalty was getting missed, not because of this, but because Sapsford looked pretty dejected all game. Strange to allow him to take it. If we score I reckon we'd have got something.

Bad day at the office? The proof will be in the pudding next week. Make no mistake, they will play EXACTLY the same way as Killie with the ball launched to Muirhead & Yengi up front & Pittman in midfield under orders to smash anything that moves. We need to show we can handle it.

I'd be tempted to bring Strain back to rb and put Luca in midfield. Probably revert to back 4 as well. Think someone needs to explain to some of the players tha

2-1 Utd. Hopefully we handle that huge LeBron James boy up front a bit better than we did last time. I watched the Killie v Celtic game and he never got a touch. We let him run riot.

If we get Pappoe back fit with a decent amount of time left in the season along with the rest of the injuries clearing up we'll have a very strong squad.

Kuchernko actually pushes Vicko which causes him to lift his arm. Now way could he deliberately react like they are saying in real time. The whole thing is a joke.

But it won't be overturned because of... reasons.

3-1 Utd. Sapsford.

Dundee United » Coll Donaldson » 10/9/2025 6:43 pm

I remember that game, in fairness Donaldson was just on and Paul Dixon inexplicably threw the ball right across the park at about waist height at him. Jamie Robson played all the other games in that run and Dixon come in and played and was pretty crap.

It's probably the last chance for this group and the worry is there's very little coming through the u21's to replace them.

I just find it odd he was so far behind fitness-wise. I know English teams start pre season later than us but do they not do any running down there or something? He played (and scored) in a friendly against the Huns as well.
