I have a feeling we'll announce maybe 2 or 3 faces over the next week as June comes round and contracts come to an end across Europe.

Really hoping we've done at least a bit of business early. Especially with our complete lack of central defenders and starting GK.

I'm not putting too much stock in to rumours this year at all. That's not to have a go at anyone, but since Goodwin's taken over I don't particularly remember many rumours ever coming true and the club has generally done a decent job of keeping the lid on transfers until they are already over the line or hours away from being announced.

Have to say Lurie Lovu, the Moldovan centre half on loan in Spain from a team in Croatia sounds like like something you'd find after you're a few years deep in to a game of Football Manager

Since County are down, wouldn't mind nabbing Hale off them. Scored a decent number for County considering they weren't great. Scored a good few goals in Ireland before coming here also.

Did anyone else catch Willie Miller after the game on SportSound?

Very clearly trying to pin the blame on United fans for the boy Mckenzie being injured until Michael Stewart pointed out the chair had been thrown from the Aberdeen end. Then STILL tried to blame United for goading Aberdeen fans into doing it.

Might have been a decent player but a slavering mess of a pundit. Kudos to Michael Stewart for sticking to his guns on it after even more excuses from Miller.

An incredible comeback.

A tame first half but a really high energy second half performance from every single player on that park.

Conference league assured at worst, which I think also means we avoid the group stages of the league Cup so good news on that front also.

2-1 United.

Middleton to score a chip from 25 yards.
Dalby to miss a penalty then score the follow up off the keeper.

That was really poor today. Worse still we yet again don't like we actually know how to attack when we need to chase a game or when we're expected to control the game.

I have defended Goodwin several times due to squad he has but some of the decisions I can't understand. For me SCH had to play today if he was fit, we should be avoiding playing Sevelj, or anyone else actually, out of position.

Trap wasn't particularly good, but I can't justify replacing him with Paton. We then stick on Moult which gives us 3 forwards in the middle but only Middleton to really create anything.

Abysmal today. Pass marks for Middleton who I thought at least last offered something and got us up the park today. Poor from the rest.

Glen Middleton being offered a deal on the back of having a 'fantastic season'

Anyone checked what they're putting in the water at St Andrews, and can I have some?

Can just about live with this if he's on vastly reduced terms and we're targeting better wingers in the summer to have him as a backup from the bench. Fine if he's being kept for depth, not good at all if he's seen as a starter.

That says it all mate, that's what we are up against this weekend

One thing I think I've had enough of though is VDS, I know he a bit of a cult hero with some of the young guys but I don't want to see him again.

He will for many a year be a regular in with the likes of Rabbitch and  Birighitti in our worst ever 11.

Nah mate, VDS at the back makes sense. If it goes well, Jim's a genius. If it goes shite, boo GTF Goodwin. Everyone's a winner.

Good post Tek, think you're on the money.

Feel like I say this every week but seen in a few places criticism of the lineup, changes etc. But with the squad we've got I'm just not convinced there's much else we can do.

Feels like every week out only options are to bring on Trap and Middleton and usually you get about 5 minutes or so out of them before the opposition adjust and nullify them. The lack of pace upfront, which I do think Goodwin has to answer for as he's had 3 transfer windows to address that IMO, combined with a general lack of quality and creativity in the centre of midfield just makes us predictable.

If  we can get the win Saturday then the purse strings really need to be loosened. Hopefully big wages like Watts and Middletons can be repurposed to bring in several new faces.

You never know how much money, Ogren (and it is solely Ogren) will make available. I actually think Cairney/Goodwin did a pretty good job with the money that I suspect Ogren made available. Let’s not forget Ogren is an “investor”, who was sold an idea that you could consistently generate young talent who you would sell on to bigger clubs with a sell on clause attached. That’s not going to happen this season.

I suspect Cairney moved on to bigger things having felt he had taken United as far as he could. Our new Data Analyst/Performance analyst I rate very highly (excellent academic record), but, if sufficient funds are not available he will be scuppered.

If I were Capuano and Goodwin, I would play hardball with Ogren. I would set a minimum figure for transfer funds and if that is not forthcoming tender their resignations. The one thing Ogren hates is to face accountability.

I hear you but as a coach there's a time to choose a hill to die on and in Goodwin's case I suspect that wouldn't be the time or the hill.

I get what you're saying about Ogren being an investor but if he is t

I try not to be too harsh after games vs OF, particularly Celtic these days but that was a very poor performance after the first 15 minutes.

Agree with just about everything posted so far so not going to go over it, however, I felt yet again that today showed just how bad our January transfer window was.

Paton and Campbell were poor again. Has Paton ever actually ever connected properly with a shot since he signed btw? Know Celtic will always be difficult but looked at that bench again today and felt there was nothing available that would've made a difference. This Gallagher stuff only adds to it.

Big summer coming up.

Me too. But the press reports I've read, none of them quote a source.
Looking back on the thread quite a few voted to release, including me, but maybe a one year extension even for squad cover might have been the thing.
Everyone was surprised when McMann was released then Ferry was announced, maybe it's the same story here. But as we all know it left us with no cover for Ferry.

Just saw this news also and thought I'd pop on. Definitely surprising given he's been very good this year. And since you'd not expect Adeboyega to be back it only leaves us with Graham and SCH as contracted centre backs for next season and possibly a new keeper in also if rumours are true of Walton staying down south next season. That's a massive overhaul of the source of our success the last 2 seasons.

One thing I will say is the majority of the fan base were dissapointed with the decision not to re-sign McMann and we got Ferry so lets hope!

I'm not sure it's a "wee taste" of anything, they pay £30+ for every away game I believe, every game they play in is category A for the home club. What Celtic charge away fans (which is a disgraceful price) has got absolutely nothing to do with them though, just as we're not responsible for United and Dundee bumping up the prices for derbies for both sets of fans.

I just don't like seeing supporters of any club cheering while clubs collude to increase prices across the league under the guise of benchmarking. I'd much rather fans of all clubs organising together to stand against being charged £40 for any game. It'll never happen through due to tribalism unfortunately, especially when we consider opposition fans 'absolute scum'.

I was thinking about that earlier,  however I think the club will cash in vs Celtic. St Johnstone proved the other week that it can be done and they gave them three stands.

What I would like to see though is the club offering a two for one with the Aberdeen and St Mirren fixture and keep both the JK and the Shed.

Tell Aberdeen they are getting roughly the same number in the JMcL as we get up there and that due to their conduct in December they ain't getting the JK.

I think we could easily sell out if it's priced correctly,  use some of the cash that they smelly bastards give us on the 26th April.

Very reasonable suggestion here CC. Therefore, united will never go for it

There's going to be a big turnover in players again this summer but yesterday showed why we need it.

Trap and Middleton who should be the creative outlets never done much, we've nothing to replace them with like for like. If we do keep either of these two on, then we desperately need to bring in competition in the wide areas.

Moult, Paton, VDS, Dalby really are so similar it's mind boggling. Whichever of them we keep on, if any, would likely be improved by having some pace alongside them to give them space.

With both the paragraphs above, it makes me wonder if Babunski dropping out of favour is less out of a falling out, but more because JG has clocked that it's wasted trying to play someone to pick out balls in behind when he has no one to play them too.

Had to leave 25 mins early cause I made an arse of something but that was 65 minutes of eyebleed football. However, another 3 points in the bag, tied for 3rd and 8 points clear of 6th is an absolute fantastic position with 5 games left.

Got to say I thought SCH actually had a bit of a mare in the first half lost a few 50-50s but appeared to grow in to the game as it went on. Can't blame him at all for being nervous when likely the entire family were there this week and he would've known well in advance he was starting. 2 clean sheets in 2 starts is all that matters.

Feels disgusting wanting Rangers to do us a favour tomorrow.. 🤢
