Might seem trivial and not of immediate concern but I did pick up on his reference to ‘that great Adidas strip’
Hopefully time for a change of supplier

Reading elsewhere that the boys Harkes and Osman Sow are set to sign early next week

With Celtic looking to sign an RB rated at £4M does that open the door to get ralston in on loan if smith won’t come until the summer?

Smith has signed the pre contract I heard
Which would tie in with that fuckhole McCall’s statement on ayr’s homepage

Good news about other smith as well

No-one has left. No-one has signed.

As it is we are having to go with the same squad he just said was 'nowhere near good enough' to get us out of this division.

Do you disagree with his statement?
If he hadn’t made the statement would it have made any difference to their ability?
We are on day 4 of the window -2 of which were holidays
Think we are being a bit over critical
As he said - the players need honesty and we need to use the full allotted time to get these poor players on long contracts to agree their future is better placed somewhere else

I don't disagree with his statement, no.

If he hadn't made the statement would it have made a difference to their abilities? No.

My point is (again) we may need to still call on some of these guys at some point as we can't ship off half a squad in one month.

I guess we'll see how it all plays out.

It would s a fair point - and looking likely more and more by the day to be the case
I’m just trying to cut RN a bit of slack and stay a little positive.

My counter was that we were fucked anyway because the boys aren’t fit to wear the shirt anyway 😂😂

These boys aren't 'poor players': they haven't done well for us.

But Robbie has labelled them as not good enough, and that's my issue. If we are trying to get them moved to other clubs, at minimal cost to United, it was the wrong thing to say publicly.

To be fair Pat we'd hardly be wanting to move them on if we thought they were world beaters...

Robbie is simply stating what all his fellow managers will be able to see with their own eyes

And he has at least been straight with them.

  ^^^^this
Plus I doubt he went rogue and came out with this statement by himself
It will have been approved and discussed - it wasn’t an unsolicited rant

But to re-iterate - we have actually signed someone now!!

I understand that people are nervous because they would rather have players in place first before telling boys they are free to go.
I doubt we have the cash to do that though and it makes good sense to let those not in the managers plans know as soon as possible so we can get them off the wage bill.

I find it amazing though that it is being branded as mixu-esque or high risk telling players that took 5 off of Ayr and then lost to a part time outfit from a winning position with 15mins to go.
I he needs to call on any of those players again, we are fucked so there is no point keeping them hanging on.
If Neilson hadn’t said something we’d be questioning him for that and saying he was deluded.
After the Ayr and Alloa defeats social media and this board we’re awash with ‘get these imposters out my club’. Now they have been told to beat it - we are nervous??

I think this is the over all plan

I would say Asghar is the brains behind this and Ogren is the money

That’s probably why Ogren wasn’t over for the takeover announcement I would say

I imagine the plan is to be similar to wolves in England

This is just an opinion and I might be wrong

It’s defin a lot better than where we were going under Thompson and Martin though as the boy at the helm has a clear plan and seems he isn’t a total moron

Dundee United » Dunfermline v Dundee Utd 27/10/18 » 28/10/2018 8:30 pm

Really annoys me when I see people going on about fan entitlement
It’s expectation
Fans have shown they will get behind the team and have been excellent the past few weeks

I do notice though, most of the folk that say that don’t attend the games. Maybe if they investeted in the team instead of castigating fans they’d understand a bit more where those that do are coming from

Never seen that site before - comedy gold!

On the thread titled Martin Woods, they have targeted Paul Quinn as a potential saviour 😂😂
The Paul Quinn that is potentially the worst player to pull on the tangerine jersey ever

The free kick at the end of the first half that safranko almost scored from (and probably should have) was another well worked straight off the training ground move as well

I don't quite get Utd fans dislike of Dodds tbh.

Other than the Rangers move, which though was heartbreaking for us, i don't particulary hold against him.

He wanted more money, to win things and to play for his boyhood team.

I'd fuck over (for examples sake) Raith Rovers to push threw my move to Utd. But that doesn't mean i still wouldn't hold a wee soft spot for them or respect the club/support.

I don’t dislike Dodds, but he had one good season for us and isn’t pulling up trees as a coach.
I guess I could flip it and ask what the strong driver to get him in is?
Has he worked with Nielsen before? Do they get on? Do they have the same philosophy?

I don’t know the answers to most of those questions. I wouldn’t be raging at the appointment but wouldn’t be that fussed either

Dundee United » Assistant manager.. » 18/10/2018 8:05 pm

I remember Dodds second stint here as a player when he was poor and wanted to be a midfielder.
He spent most of the time fucking up then screaming at the young players.
Maybe he has changed as he got older but he struck me at the time as someone who wouldn’t make a good coach
He’s certainly not done anything in that field that would make me desperate to shoe horn him into our setup

Interesting to know what type of individual we were really dealing with.

More interested in seducing young girls with cash than anything else, it would seem.

Hope mike Martin doesn't like a round of golf or going out for his tea...

Not saying he's not a creep but getting your Nat king Cole doesn't make you sh!'te at your job

No, the past four years of being shite at his job made him shite at his job.
This article just confirms he is a creepy bastard to boot

These were the reasons many of us gave.

Still not convinced by Martin but have to give the benefit of the doubt

Looks like I’ll be heading up to tannadice for the first time this season for the ICT game

Happy enough with that appointment.
Seems the best out of the list of candidates

Although I’m not fully convinced of Martin, this goes down as a win for him and should give him some leeway with the fans for now

One thing I’d say about Nielsen, I remember is struggling and looking a bit disjointed on the field until he joined, then things picking up after he joined.
Not sure if it was down to him or the typical ‘kick on after xmas’we used to do. I did think at the time though he had a lot of influence for a fullback as you don’t usually see that

I'm quite relaxed about Ellis getting it. If he does, it's because we'll have probably won our next 2 or 3 games. That's a pretty good platform to build on. I'd be wary of offering him something past the end of the season though, even if we do go up.
I don't think it's fair to say he's tainted by being assistant to CL. I don't think he will have had any influence over that crazy bastard

I think that’s fair comment
I wasn’t keen on him being in the role last time, but after he won his games I thought he should have got longer and we pulled the trigger too early as there was no outstanding candidates at the time.

I think we are in the same situation again with candidates so if he keeps winning, keep him in charge for the time being.

Should only act if it’s not working out

Dundee United » Tommy Wright » 03/10/2018 1:30 pm

I’m not sure about wright as manager.
The main criticism i have heard is his style is dull.
The main positive is that he is professional and he would galvanise the team. Someone like him would get us promoted with traits like that, I would hope.

Regardless, a move like this, if pulled off, would be a clear statement of intent from MM and would silence the naysayers, or if you are on the fence about him (like myself) allay some fears
