Gomis....really...after the last time?

There’s a reason he has no club.

Here we go again in January window, played for us before and can remember how to lace his boots, let’s sign him.... cue Swanson, Cifcti, Bauben, etc posts. Dear me, it’s going to be a long month and a crap few months after if we start signing our has beens again who can’t get a game anywhere else .

Think he's coming in as backup Tn'B.

Brilliant news. Even better if Gomis has also signed. This is a million times better than last January. Now let's get the right back from Ayr.

Re: January transfer window

Gomis was one of the best players I have seen in tangerine.  My worry is that he's well passed that, but on the other hand Gary Harkins is still earning a wage at this level...

Re: January transfer window

I guess time will tell with Gomis but as we already know (from Robbie's comments) that he is coming in as back-up, I'd rather have a 60 year-old Jimmy Gomis with one leg than Barton or Rabitsch, simple as that.

100% Correct!!

Re: January transfer window

Reading elsewhere that the boys Harkes and Osman Sow are set to sign early next week

With Celtic looking to sign an RB rated at £4M does that open the door to get ralston in on loan if smith won’t come until the summer?

Absolutely, the word legend gets thrown about a lot, but is absolutely appropriate in the case of Jimmy Gomis the silver kisser. One of my all time favourite United players, can’t wait to sing the old song again tomorrow.

Welcome home JG.

Re: January transfer window

Nesbitt Smith and Gomis is a great start, and still a long way to go in this window.
Looks like Ayr are working to just hold onto what is a very settled first choice 11.
Will be interesting to see what Ross County look like on 1st Feb when the business is done.
If Mr O is serious about getting us up as champions this year we still have additions needed but it's a really promising start.

As long as we win tomorrow 🙄

If I’m allowed to be be greedy, I’d also like a good left back and a commanding centre back.

No idea who the assistant head coach is, but it would be interesting to know if this is Robbie’s appointment or if he has been brought in by Ogren (that being based on the fact he worked in the MLS).

Oooooohhhh yeeeeeaaaaaah!!

Re: January transfer window

So in the past week we have signed up -

A winger, a No.10, a vastly experienced holding midfielder, a Managing Director, a Sporting Director and an Assistant Head Coach.

And managed to get a shot-shy Striker on a 3 year deal punted off across the road.

All in all a decent start to the window.

Centre Half, Right Back and Centre Forward in and i will be very happy with our January dealings.

Will reserve judgement on the need for a new No.1 Goalkeeper for the moment until i see how Mehmet is upon return (which must be very close now).

Re: January transfer window

A right back is an obvious requirement, while I reckon we need a goalkeeper more than a striker (with Clark to come back, still unproven for me)..Mehmet got another contract on the basis of his injury and our loyalty, but I feel he'll be allowed to go.

To be honest, I don't trust any of the defenders.

Another thing: is Laurie Ellis away? Have I missed that one?

Re: January transfer window

Michael McGovern’s totally out the picture at Norwich, hasn’t played a league game for them since April 2017. Contract’s up in the summer, a loan deal till the end of the season to get himself back in the shop window could work out for all parties?

Re: January transfer window

Nisbett is an improvement on The wingers we have and will hopefully drive performance levels up due to a bit of decent competition for places.

Gomis will offer us another reliable midfielder and at least give us the option of bringing off Fyvie when tiring. Playing central defenders in at center mid said everything about what Neilson thought about some of Lazlo signings.

Smith although I ain't as excited about returning is definitely an improvement on Curran, hopefully I am wrong but I never seen much first time round however hopefully a change of position will see the best of him.

Goalkeeper,Right back and a left back next.

It's almost impossible to get rid of some of the utter dross that we have on the books.

When I saw this I immediately assumed it was driven by the new owners. Too much of a coincidence isn't it. Robbies statement says all the right things but it sounds like it was more or less written for him. Hope he's ok with it because he's gonna have to be.
