If starry eyed = having a law degree and a broad understanding of correct business procedures then I'm guilty as charged.  I'm guilty too of not allowing emotion and rage to cloud my judgement and twist comments being made.  I'm also guilty as charged of having an open mind as to how monumentally difficult it must be to run a provincial Scottish futba club with under 5,000 season tickets when supporter expectation is to be winning major cups and being in Europe.  This being when there are 5 teams bigger than us where their season ticket base is over 30,000 x2, 14,000, 12,000 and 10,000 which odds wise makes it almost impossible/highly unlikely.  A glance across and up Tannadice Street shows how difficult Scottish futba can be.  Should we be where we are?  Absolutely not.  But we need to deal with it, galvanise and try and get out of the mess.  Tangy is just getting the same ridicule and treatment I got (and am obviously still getting) from you boys when I met David Southern, as it appears to be the case that no-one apart from those deemed "most loyal" are permitted to bring any news to the greater support.

I'll ask you again, Thompson leaves, what's the plan?  Who's coming in?  What is the Fed plan?  As even if someone gets Dundee United for the mythical pound (which will NOT happen as Justine is unlikely to accept 50p or whatever the will of Eddie stated) the Buyer would not own the ground and would inherit the debt.  So they are gonna be a few £million down before the handshake is complete!  Then they would look at the campaign waged against Thompson and say, "could/would I put my family through that?" when the support expects

Please tell me and the rest of us muppets and puppets.......

Affshore

To answer a couple of questions in your Post 42.  David Southern is employed as the General Manager of the Football Club, by the Board of Directors who make all the key decisions as regards the running of the Football Club.  His job is merely to implement what the BoD want done. I'd suggest that is why he is not featured on the Website.  Whilst he will sit in on Board Meetings, he is NOT on the Board, therefore, I'm sure he will have little or no clout on major financial issues, but he will undoubtedly be left to get on with day to day stuff, eg contracts, liaising with the football authorities, Council, logistics, other team's etc.  His employment, is presumably coz the Chairman and/or the BoD neither have the nous or the time to do this task; or they think it is below them?  But it's a job that needs done and it's a job that would need a decent skill set to do.  It's ridiculous to try to equate whatever he is paid with whether we could get another player or not.

Colin Stewart is an Associate Director and whilst sitting in on the Board, he will not be making any major financial decisions either.

I'd have thought that re the Yogi situation (and he was one of the two Managers I'd have gone for post Sackie, Billy Davies being the other) he was contracted to ICT and they had just won the Scottish Cup.  The figure quoted would have been the compensation figure ICT were looking for if Yogi walked out on his contract.  Our Board obviously decided they could not afford that, so they could not speak to him.  The BoD chose Mixup, the rest is history.  Unfortunately, in backing their new Manager, the BoD probably paid that out in his choice of dud players that made no difference.  We got relegated and budgets got slashed and we are where we are!

Recruitment Recruitment Recruitment as I keep saying!!!  We've all backed the wrang horse in our lives.  I thought I was marrying the right girl on Marriage number one, but it turned out she was a Pschotic Charlatan.  I

On the ArabZONE commentary at the weekend there, Joe and Mark spoke of getting a hostile reception from Falkirk supporters around them, who basically told them to GTF out of the row that they were in and that them and their equipment were getting physically moved by these jokers who were saying, "who did we, ie Dundee United think we were?  Big Time Charlie's etc etc".

That scenario in a nutshell is what needs to be matched first and foremost on the park where it obviously happening, but on a larger scale and that is not happening.  This will have come as no surprise to the Manager, him having managed in the division, but it seems that the penny has not or is not dropping with some on the playing staff.  Get it foo kin sorted - and pronto!

Same for me.

Currently on Chapter 26 of the Johnny Marr autobiography on audiobook, actually read by him, so in the middle of the whole meltdown surrounding the recording and aftermath of TQID.  Totally surreal thing, it's like having him in the car with me and he's baring his soul to me.  I just want to keep driving and keep listening.

Access to the graveyard please.

There's always someone somewhere, with a big nose, who knows, who'll trip you up and laugh when you fall.

Aye, a complete waste of time. Brainchild of spence to make things look better but in reality a load of waffle.

So at that "The Fed" had a seat at the table with ST?  Along with other United fan groups?

If so, then in my humble opinion The Fed have missed a trick, as instead of asking the infamous questions in the manner in which they were asked; if they'd asked them instead in the abbreviated manner I suggested, then surely the Fed would have some answers by now.  And if the rest of the group did not want the answers to those questions, then your assessment of "a load of waffle" would be spot on.

Can someone tell me:

(1)  when was the group started and how many meetings of the group have taken place?

(2)  who represents/represented who?

(3)  what has been discussed?

(4)  are their minutes; or are they top secret?

Was just about to post a similar topic WD83.  Good interview.  The carrot is there for all left at at Tannadice to do well for the rest of this season as it will determine the level that both Dundee United and them play at next season.

"It's a very difficult draw to bring players to the (Scottish) Championship...........(I) won't squander money..........I won't bring rubbish into the Club just to make a signing."

Well done Ray, I like your defiance.  Now can we be a bit more attacking?  Starting Saturday!

Thompson has brought all the abuse and criticism on himself with his many catastrophically bad decisions, his sulking and lack of communication with the fans.
If you act like that how can you expect to be popular?

He came out with the statement in the summer about repairing the damage he'd caused.....still waiting for this happening

All that's happened since we've been relegated is the fans have poured money in but nothing from him personally or the fabled investment he went looking for after the Derby defeat

His time is well and truly up

And your solution being (once you've stuck your pitchfork in him and razed his crumbling Empire to the ground)?

Coz that's the real issue that many of us want to know the answer to and what the OP is asking?

I want him and the hangers out of the club as much as the next person.   However it has to be done in the proper way.    The team right now need us in the stands, ok we haven't been great this season but we are still in with a right good chance of getting back up at first attempt.     I don't think doing things like boycotts, throwing season tickets on the park etc is the way.    What the answer is I do not know.

Well said Mr Bombscare.  My sentiments exactly.  This is what it is like to live within your means.  What goes on in the stands affects what goes on on the park.

Hoping for a winger and a target man and that we adopt a more positive way of playing from now; as being 2nd in this league this season was the only realistic goal that any sane person could have had for us all along.  I'm realistic enough to understand that as we are out of the Scottish, we've ZERO unbudgeted income coming our way for the rest of this financial year/season; AND we don't yet know what the state of our finances were due to us leaving the Premier League as they are not out yet.  So it is probably true we need Andy Robertson to be sold early today, or we need to manage to lose one or two from the current squad early in the day to avoid spinning the bottle in the last few hours.

Regardless of what happens, we need to stop bitching and moaning and seeking division.  Stabilise the ship.  And find a positive way of playing that means we go into April and May with form and momentum.  As that's how you get out of a play off situation.
