Tillson instead of Wotherspoon in for Docherty, this is why I don't want Goodwin here next season in a nutshell.

There will be 10,800 there.
The Dode Fox upper & lower & the Eddie Thomson upper & lower will all be 'sold out' despite hundreds of empty seats in the wings.
The Jerry Kerr section D will have 250 home supporters spread out.
There will be 280 United supporters in the Shed, Ayr United that is, sorry.
The Jim McLean Fair Play must be falling down or something so there will ne no chunt in there.
Now can we get on with the game.

Well the game isn't until tomorrow so there's still a full 24 hours left for people to discuss the subject if they want to,cheers though.

I would like to see young Thompson back in to replace Grimshaw for this one.

Fingers crossed that Docherty is fit, if he ain't then Tilson comes in to replace.

This is it, one win required and it will be the hardest one collect three points.

These guys have over the season to date managed the weight of expectation pretty well but tomorrow there will be a bit more pressure to finally get over the line.

A chance to do something that will be pretty special for them as a collective.

The game is on Saturday btw 😋

Edit to say, I hope we go with Wotherspoon rather than Tillson

Yeah I genuinely didn't see Grimshaw put a foot wrong against Morton, stick with the same team for me.

Dundee United » Out of Contract players - Who would you keep? » 15/4/2024 9:06 am

I'd keep  Moult, he's scored goals at the top level before and 20 goal strikers are hard to find.

It not there, they don't have it.

.

Somebody like Rory MacLeod could have came on for Moult. Give him some much needed minutes in the first team on a rare occasion there is no panic, because we know the match is won.

Surely you haven't written him off already? He's barely had a chance.

We learn nothing by bringing on Tillson, and he actually doesn't aid us in anyway either.

As much as I disagree with Tillson coming on,and am no fan of Goodwin,  it's possible (think someone mentioned it earlier somewhere too) that Goodwin possibly felt the younger lads were probably not robust enough to be pitted against that shower of dirty horrible bastards.

Dundee United » Morton vs Utd - Friday 12th April » 13/4/2024 5:05 pm

If we win the league next Saturday will we get the trophy then or would they wait until the Thistle game to hand it out?

Good performance and win.

Thought we rolled our sleeves up again and got stuck in, which is great to see. Our superior quality then assured us of a fairly comfortable victory.

A bit like last week the game was won after an hour and the subsequent substitutes made, then kill off the game completely and it fizzles out.

A small moan on the night but again i can't for the life of me understand why he brings Tillson on first when we are 4 up. Bring on a kid like Thomson, MacLeod, Mochrie or even Wotherspoon (see if he offers anything). Not to pick-on the guy (genuinely) but he offers nothing. I watched him carefully again, and even the supposed things he is supposed to be good at (winning tackles) he done none of. And just completely non-existent on the ball. Think he touched the ball twice.

Anyway, that is a small criticism on the night, but it worries me that Goodwin will offer him a contract, as he seems to be his 'go to' guy.

On the positives -

Fantastic header from Ross Docherty. Didn't know he had that type of goal in him. We are a far better side when he is beside Sibbald. Next season will be interesting to see if he can make the step-up though, as he's never played top flight football and is now 30. Time will tell on that.

Ross Graham - Been absolutely outstanding since his return. I wasn't sure about offering him a new deal but he is winning me round on that. He has came on night and day in the past month and is finally looking like the player we thought he could have been when he first broke through under Tam Courts.

Tony Watt - Not always been my favourite. The past month though he has shown real leadership qualities and has been pivotal to Utd turning this round and now looking like strong favourites for the title. Not sure what he will offer next season, as he has struggled at Premiership level for us, but if he leaves in the Summer (don't think he will btw) at least he has played his part in probably getting us out of the Championship and

Why am I not as concerned about Friday as I was last Saturday?

I think the way Morton play and set their team up and added to our recent success over them it's something I hope our lads will relish.

They will be playing their 3 game in six days, the boy that holds the world record for throw ins is out, Kirk Broadfoot should be playing, I am reasonably relaxed about this one.

Much more comfortable that the two young ins at the back will be focused on Oakley and will be able to deal with him.

Both our wide players have returned to early season form, Kia in particular was very good albeit against QP last week and hopefully Middleton will overcome that wee knock he picked up.

Wootherspoon is a decent option from the bench, but if called upon we really need to see more from Cudjoe. The wee guy looked lost last week.

Only decision for me is- Will Jim be tempted to play Tilson to combat some of their hatchet men in the middle? he could drop Kia and play Watt out on the left again where he had their full back on toast.

We will have a large support through again, who encourage the team on to hopefully a 7 point gap at the top.

If he puts Tillson back into that team he deserves everything he fucking gets. Same team as the last two games barring any injuries and let's play like lions not fucking lambs.

Hopefully Grieve's injury paves the way for Rory MacLeod to take his place on the bench.

I doubt MacLeod is going to make any contributions to our title run in mate, can't be a worse option than Grieve I suppose though.

Highlights.

Like a lot of other people in the away end i couldn't fathom how Utd hadn't scored around the 10th minute mark. I was convinced i had seen the net ripple.

Looking at the highlights back, that is an  utterly incredible save by their Keeper. Probably the best save i've ever seen in the flesh, actually.

Moult seemed to think it crossed the line but impossible to tell from any angle I've seen.  Some stop though, wasn't convinced by our keeper though tbh.

When we go a goal behind boo boys become palpable to opposition as well as our own - no help - saps the self belief right our of our own team.
Be interested to know when we last came down fae a goal behind to win, let alone a thriller comeback fae 2 down.
To answer my own question on comebacks fae one down, think it might v Lichties promotion season ?

Queens Park twice this season,Ayr united too off the top of my head.

It's a great initiative and has the potential to make a big difference to how successful we are at Tannadice.

Obviously the Raith game was a big game and we got ourselves ahead early, so it wasn't difficult for the singing section to be really enthusiastic. What I would love to see is for the singing section to focus on encouraging the team when we are behind or when we aren't playing as well as on Saturday. In particular, songs to give support to individual players - especially the younger lads - if they're struggling a bit or have just made a significant error. IMO that will make the world of difference in helping turn performances and games around - just as the collective groans or vocal criticism cause players to go into their shells and for the team performance to suffer as a result.

The key factor in the long ball game being successful on Saturday was that Raith were poor in the air at the back, most teams in this division are not.

Thing is,we don't necessarily have to play long ball stuff ,we just need to be moving the ball forward quicker and pressing teams instead of the tippy tappy shite we've endured too much of. We should still play the way the type of opposition demands. QP will want to win at the weekend so won't really be looking to park the bus, that should give our better players space to exploit hopefully. We already know we can beat them so let's not go into it timidly. Get at the cunts from the off and get the first goal. As has been shown already this season, getting the first goal is vital . Having said that Queens have scored first against us twice this season already and we've come back and won comfortably.

Yes,but our defence and midfield were posted missing that night and our strikers were shite too. The difference was in the application on Saturday, leaving Tillson and Grieve on the bench also helped

For Raith to get 73 points you're looking at 5 wins & a defeat for them. Nae chance. They'll have to go some & they're getting found out, 7 points from last 5 games, we're 10 points.
Wm Hill has us at 1/5 & Raith at 10/3.
One game at a time tho, as per usual. Nice we're going to Hampden for a Sat 3pm kick-off.

Bookies are very rarely wrong 🤞

I had a tenner on Raith to win yesterday and a fiver on the draw. I'm fucking useless at gambling so it was tied on we'd win. Absolutely delighted to be 15 quid down and will be banging a bit of cash on Raith to win the title, should make us a banker!
