Falkirk vs Utd - Saturday 13th July 3PM

What would be your XI and formation for our opening game of the 24/25 season?

Re: Falkirk vs Utd - Saturday 13th July 3PM

................................Walton

............Sevelj.........Gallacher........Graham

Strain.........................................................Ferry

...........................Sibbald................

Trapanovski...............Fotheringham..............Middleton

.................................Watt

Was gonna go a traditional 3-5-2...

But it depends on how Moult is re the plastic surface, so i've went with Fotheringham off of Watt, would normally have Docherty in beside Sibbald, but if he's out injured then a rethink is needed.

Is Docherty out injured? If so doesn’t bode well for the new season.

We may have new signings in by then too of course.

Re: Falkirk vs Utd - Saturday 13th July 3PM

I think if we get a midfielder signing in early this week then they are likely to go straight in the team with Docherty unavailable.  Can see a front 3 of Middleton, Watt and Fotheringham.  Hopefully Strain and Ferry wide in a 4 man midfield.  Then any 3 from Holt, Graham, Gallagher and the Croatian boy in defence.

I see Falkirk have a few injuries including their best player Morrison and our old friend Coll Donaldson…. Brad Spencer (son of John) is suspended as well.

The fact that folk are still saying we shouldn't be playing Moult on plastic says it all about how much we need a new Striker.

You're very dismissive of players who worked hard to get us up. Goodwin has said he's signing a striker anyway so it's unnecessary really. For the record I'm referring to your other post about Docherty too. All we have at the moment are unsubstantiated rumours of him being injured.  Would be nice if folk just waited to see what's happened before judging the guy. As for Moult,he scored 20 goals and helped massively to get us up, a wee bit of a break for him would be nice too.

I get we both have different opinions but would appreciate a civil response this time, rather than the very childish one I got last time I didn't share your opinion.

What you on about now lol?

In what way was my post dismissive of Moult? I was only saying we need another Striker as having a player as our main Striker who can't play on a certain surface (a surface that is widely used in Scotland) isn't ideal. I am aware Goodwin wants another Striker, but i was only stating i would like it done soon. Is that ok?

P.s. don't go down the route of talking about 'civil responses'. You used to swear and berate the poster AlwaysUnited constantly in a manner no-one else did. So get off your high horse.

Exhausting individual.

Louis Moult played at least some part in almost every game we played on plastic last season actually, but don't let the truth get in the way will you. Only Kilmarnock will be any kind of issue in the top flight anyway after Saturday. Also my post indicated that I was also referring to your comments about Docherty but feel free to skip over that part.

AlwaysUnited was a total windup merchant that you allowed to continue posting drivel and winding up good Arabs,  so I treated him with the absolute contempt he deserved.
You just don't like that my opinion differs from yours, but isn't that what a fans forum is about?

Sorry if I exhast you btw, perhaps an early night might be in order? 😉

Not at all. I put up with your constant drivel after all.

All opinions are welcome, but constant abuse isn't. So, in that respect you are lucky to even be posting on this Forum, regardless of what type of poster Always United is/was.

You seem to from what i understand cause a bit of a stooshie across all 3 of the Utd Message Boards (Tek, East, Mad).

Maybe, reflect on that and why, rather than constantly try and write wee nippy replies to folk. Just a piece of friendly advice.

Won't be replying to you again as don't want to ruin the first match thread of the season with nonsense. So the floor is all yours for the last word. I know you'll love that.

That's a very brave team prediction lifesan for match #1 2024/25 and you may not be far wrong.
And I would doubt that even if there is a new signing before Saturday that he would get a game.

Re: Falkirk vs Utd - Saturday 13th July 3PM

I think the team picks itself, although I wouldn't have Grimmy in the squad. If he plays even a minute for us it devalues him in the eyes of another club as it means they are stuck with him, if they sign him and it doesn't work out.

If the game is going well and we're a few goals up I'd like to see Dave Richards brought on too.

Ferry ------------------------------------Strain

Fotheringham -----Watt-----Trapanovski

Alternatively have Middleton in for Fotheringham and/or Docherty in for O'Donnell

I'd be keeping Moult away from the plastic pitches, if possible, prior to the start of the league.

Oooooohhhh yeeeeeaaaaaah!!

Haud on Always, we're playing a team who were undefeated over 36 league games last season on their plastic pitch on which we have a sh1te record.
If we win 1-0 I'll be very very happy.
Dave can sit where he is.

I am more sure that Always United is a Tek burner account than I am of what our starting XI will look like on Saturday

Re: Falkirk vs Utd - Saturday 13th July 3PM

Here we go again, and I've got a feeling this one will be a special one for all the right reasons.

Not sure on how we will line-up but 3-5-2 seems to be the formation.

Don't know if Strain will be risked so early after returning later than the rest of the squad.

Looking forward to all the new guys getting some sort if run out.

Moult and Watt grab a goal each.

Is what i think he goes with (would prefer Trapa over Watt).

If we win this we should top the group.

That’s probably the team I’m expecting but Middleton in place of Moult, though Fotheringham has had an injury apparently so possibly Thomson or Trapanovski in for him

Re: Falkirk vs Utd - Saturday 13th July 3PM

Not sure how we will set up today with it being the first game and on the plastic. Expect a good performance against tough opposition. The manner in which we go about the game will tell us more than the result I think.

Someone saying last night Kai Fotheringham has an injury, don’t know whether it’s correct or not.
