DUFC vs Kilmarnock - Wednesday 9th November (7.45pm)

What team and formation for this huge home match?

Re: DUFC vs Kilmarnock - Wednesday 9th November (7.45pm)

Birighitti
Smith, Edwards, Graham, Behich
Middleton, Levitt, Sibbald, McGrath
Watt, Fletcher

Would prefer a back four and this personnel played in whatever position Fox chooses.

Re: DUFC vs Kilmarnock - Wednesday 9th November (7.45pm)

Birighitti
Freeman Edwards Graham behich
Levitt sibbald
Middleton McGrath niskanen
Fletcher

Has to go back to a back 4, 2 hard working wingers to help the full backs deal with stopping crosses

Re: DUFC vs Kilmarnock - Wednesday 9th November (7.45pm)

We lost at Rugby park due to an inability to deal with their centre midfield.  Power and Donnelly I think.  Win the contest their (and avoid chucking in any soft goals) and we can with this game.

Play the young keeper, can't possibly be worse than the other two, if he is then why are we still persisting with him?

I'd give Newman his chance too.

Why recall him from Peterhead early just to sit in the stands.

Re: DUFC vs Kilmarnock - Wednesday 9th November (7.45pm)

3 points are a must in my opinion but sadly again I can't see it.

McInnes will have his team well up for it, they beat us and they go 6 clear.

They out ran, worked and fought us last time, I can't see us reversing that.

Hopefully I am wrong and some crackpot can make me eat humble pie.

I'd play:

Keeper (both shite)

Smith
Edwards
Graham
McMann

Levitt
Sibbald

Middleton
McGrath
Behich

Fletcher

Too much commotion

If we lose to Killie on Wednesday they'll go 6 points clear of us. It'll be a kick in the guts for me.

Totally.

But ... big ask at the moment.
Basically our lads need to get a f___ up themselves from the get go, and go for 90

Newman
Smith, Edwards, Graham, Behich
Middleton, Levitt, Sibbald, McGrath
Watt, Fletcher

On paper it's a good team, blend of players you want.
They run on and look beat, spineless and with glaring weakness all to easily exploited.

Re: DUFC vs Kilmarnock - Wednesday 9th November (7.45pm)

Putting my head on the block here, but I expect us to win this game comfortably. Its a six pointer and something of a last chance saloon before the World Cup break.

Is that you suggesting it is a must win whilst writing off our chances in Aberdeen?  You feeling OK?

We must win. That’s all that matters.

Team need to be right up for this one.
No settling for draws. Tomorrow is firmly in the must win category. Anything else just isn't good enough.

  • Fox doesn't see Kilmarnock match as a "must win" game, rather one they "would very, very much like to win".
  • He wouldn’t be drawn into commenting on reports that Charlie Mulgrew is to join the United coaching team, simply saying, "There will be an announcement on that over the next week or so."

1/   What planet is he on ffs !!!!                Is he in dressing room equivocating and spouting shit like this or is he in dressing room geeing them up for all hes worth, pleading, berating, reasoning, whatever it takes to sink it home to each indivividual and to the group. This IS a MUST win lads, lose and we're six points adrift.
2/ If hes saying stuff like this, get rid.
Mulgrew - temporary, whatever, quick.    It may smack of desperation to some but guess what, it is desperate

...... " would very, very much like to win "      - Cannot believe it !!!!!     .... I think he's just to much of a nice guy.   So we've a nice guy being led by a charlatan, hired by a transatlantic dreamer .... no wonder the teams a soft touch.

Specifically on the "must win" comment, I'm sure Liam privately understands the huge importance of the game, but if he publicly says it is "must win" (with the implication being that we are doomed if we don't) and we don't win, then where does he go from there? What can he say next, does he just concede that the team are relegated and give up as they failed to win the must win game?

If course he doesn't. He would try and draw the positives and start preparing for the next game against Aberdeen.

I'm certain everyone inside the club is perfectly aware of how crucial this game is, but no manager is going to pile pressure in the players and panic the supporters by calling it "must win", when in reality there will still be a further 19 games and 57 points after tomorrow to play for.

I actually think it's good man-management, similar to the style observed in the very best (Klopp, Ferguson, Ancellotti etc) who will often speak of a game being "only three points", in public at least, to remove as much pressure from the players as possible.

Re: DUFC vs Kilmarnock - Wednesday 9th November (7.45pm)

Maybe the players need to be put under pressure about the importance of this and every other game. It's not like they have been performing without it.
If Glenn and Archie had some pressure applied they may have tracked the run of the Celtic player for the 3rd goal instead of both standing around pointing.

I actually agree with the sentiment re. Fox.  He can hardly tell the press it is a must win as the implications for his job if he loses would then come to pass.  I do however hope his message in the dressing room is somewhat different.  I would however clarify that the only supporter he might panic by calling it a must win is AU.  Everyone else is panicking already.  Not to put too fine a point on it, if we are 6 or more behind going into the World Cup then we need a new manager before the end of the World Cup.

On the great managers, they can run the 'only 3 points' line as they are very rarely in charge of teams as utter shite as our current one.  The likelihood is that they'll pick up 3 points next time.  For us the likelihood of us picking up 3 points seem slim.

People (AU) need to stop sleepwalking into the fact that we are fecked and that the fans are and have been totally short changed by the charlatan.  He talks of marginal gains being what elite is all about.  Tony please point me in the direction of our marginal gains.  Tony must go.

Let’s see if Fox plays the same back 3 that Doidge and Lafferty bullied all night.
