Tin Hat on but is Gogic still a free agent?  Might be an option as a defensive midfielder that can also play and Ross has signed him before?

The timing of our signings is a frustration but I wonder how much of it had to do with JR deciding not to move on some of the targets TC set and how much of it was our leadership team not moving quick enough to secure signings.

No tin hat required, that's the sort we need.

What we most certainly don't require is another international scouting trip trying to unearth a defensive midfielder from the other side of the world.

Our timing of recruitment has imo cost us already this season and time is not our friend.

Re: Summer Transfer Window

Clearly what has happened is that Ross has taken a look at what Courts had lined up and didn't fancy it.  That seems to include Gogic and the boy Tiffany from Thistle and probably others.  I think that probably means that Gogic is unlikely to agree to join when Ross clearly doesn't rate him.  Although, on both sides, perhaps beggars can't be choosers.

So if we have to move people out, who?  Presumably there is an off the wage bill aspect or fee aspect but I can't see many falling into the latter.  Pawlett and Clark seem to me the two older players least likely to get game time, although the former appears to be unlikely to move on whilst injured.  The other options appear to be 'youngsters' or Harkes.  We may move on some of the youngsters.  Chalmers seems the most obvious and must be in last chance saloon anyway.  Harkes presumably didn't get sufficient interest from others before he re-signed and anyone who was interested would presumably just sign him on a pre in January.

Presumably out of all of the above Clark is the most likely to save us some cash (albeit we'd presumably need to cut a deal as he's probably heading to the Championship at best).  He's also been our top goalscorer for the last 2/3 seasons.  So do we cut him out and go grovelling back to Gogic or find another 'enforcer'?

I like Clark, but I don't think Ross is going to play any sort of football that he would thrive in, so for me I'd cut him a deal and grovel.

I guess as another option we look to move on potential saleable assets earlier than perhaps planned?  Graham or Cudjoe might net us a worthwhile fee and future add ons?  Then there is always the Noel Hunt/Harry Souttar money....

It does indeed.  He clearly doesn't have the mobility required for the role either.  I'd like to know what people were thinking, firstly in thinking that we didn't need a CDM and then watching us and not noticing the massive amount of space between our midfield and defence in the central area.  It was evident for all of the first AZ game and clearly exploited for all of the second.  Presumably Apple haven't brought out a fix for that glitch as yet...

Re: Summer Transfer Window

Scott Burns saying Gogic in talks with St Mirren to return on a 2 year deal. Should we be trying to gazump that ?

Re: Summer Transfer Window

You have to think that there will be other options kicking around too.  We're really only looking for a couple of Paul Paton/John Rankin types.  Not world beaters, just boys with decent positional sense and a tackle.  With Sibbald, Levitt and McGrath we have plenty who can play nice football.

If you look at the stats of the young lad Kenneh that has recently joined Hibs that is what we need.

Re: Summer Transfer Window

Tony, when are we going to get a team where there is a player for every position?  Every season you’ve been here we have holes in the squad. Sort it out or F off and leave to someone who knows what they are doing.

Add in the imminent Jack Ross pay off money and it’s a fair skelp spent on absolutely nothing of value.

Both Aussies look absolutely shite, will be on good money and are contracted for years.

Fletcher looks finished and will doubtless be on about 4k a week.

Tony (1 goal in 25 games) Watt 100k transfer fee and will be on about 4/5k a week

Harkes on 5k a week

McGrath will be on a fair whack

Fees paid for McMann, Watt, Eriksson, Birighitti, Niskanen, Middleton.

He is spending a fortune and amassing a completely imbalanced and impotent squad.

This is not sustainable.

Re: Summer Transfer Window

Surely, anyone watching our performances this season can see we are crying out for a reliable keeper and a defensive central midfielder?

It's so obvious.

Zander Clark is without a club, get him signed ASAP, as well as an actual replacement for Jeando Fuchs

Those two positions as you say are critical if we hope to have a decent season.

The keeper situation that we are in reminds a bit of 15/16 season when we had no idea which one of our keepers was the least worst. We all know how it worked out.

No more unnecessary gambles please trying  to unearth talent from the other side of the world.

The Ogrens must also be seriously reviewing our current set up and in particular Ashgars position,  we are wasting time money and effort signing all of these lads from around the globe when we have decent quality in our own country. In his interview earlier this season he admitted to making a few mistakes but recently these are multiplying and becoming far too frequent.

Obviously it is far too early to press the panic button, but, I don’t think the Ogren’s have a “B” plan. They are already £10 million in the hole, but, have made it perfectly clear that Asghar is running the show. In fact, it was conditional on the purchase of the club, that Asghar would run it.

FWIW, most of us didn’t rate the Court’s appointment, but, were proved wrong. Pretty much everyone thought JR’s appointment was a good one, but, thus far the season has been hellish.

As someone else pointed out, why did Courts and Mellon depart? It may well be our model for running the club puts too many constraints on the manager.

We offered him a deal on a great wage, and him and his Agent fucked about, for weeks. Fuck him.

We do need to bin one of the Goalies though before September 1st and just sign a proper one.

Just not Zander Clark. You either want to be here, or you don't.

Tony, see for the winter transfer window, can you just let whoever is the manager pick the players?  It's clear you don't have a clue.

For the love of God and all that is holy, no thanks. He barely scored in the championship, playing in an attacking team. He'd do bugger all in the Premier league.

Tony Watt, 1 goal since January. Not much to beat.
