Mackay not someone I'd want to say take the job. As said above, I don't doubt he regrets his actions but some of the things in the texts were horrific. Not someone I want connected with the club.

Mackay has too much baggage - big no. 

I worry about who our next gaffer will be. There is no stand out names that I think 100% yes. 

Motherwell, Robinson - Yes, but he won't come. 
Tommy Wright - Yes, but he won't come. 

Has Tony Ashgar got too much control? Is it a risk? He was partly to blame for the signings that he made with Neilson last year. I never felt comfortable with Mal being here, and I was right. Have the same feeling with Ashgar.

Wee bit surprised some people think Mackay is a good candidate, even leaving the text stuff and money issues aside.

He did have a very good spell at Cardiff on the playing field, but other than that 7-8 years ago nothing else has impressed. But has he helped improve anything in Scottish football? That's his job presently, which he's done for 3 and a half years, with no progress whatsoever. In fact he's helped kill off many of the youth set ups at Scottish clubs with the requirements for elite coaches and performance schools which can only be implemented by the teams with plenty cash to hand. Then there's his support for Project Brave, which is going nowhere fast, and colt sides. He got the SFA gig and his first job was to endorse Project Brave, which was probably the major plank of his interview.

I'd be interested to learn why anyone thinks he'd be a suitable candidate.

I'm not too taken by Wright either, as an aside, and would prefer a younger manager who'd be more likely to buy into the club and see it as a stepping stone for bigger things.

McCulloch and Forrest not interested and will go to hearts when new manager comes in according to the sun

So a young man comes in, does well and is away in a year or two at most and we're back to square one trying to find yet another Boss.

Let's try and find a man that wants to stick around and is happy to build something good at Utd and stick around here for years. 

That man is (for me) Tommy Wright.

He showed loyalty to stay at St.Johnstone for 7 years in total. I'd like to see him offered the chance to get Utd into a regular top 6 club again and one that is regularly at Hampden and in European competition.

He is 56 now so he would possibly see Utd as his last job before retiring i.e. he would be looking at a settled stay and not to move on to a bigger club.

The same article that says McCulloch and Forrest dont want the job also says this about Wright:

"highly unlikely he will end up at Tannadice"

Thats a few different articles that have said that now. I agree he is the safest pair of hands to see us through our first season in the Premiership. But for whatever reason it just appears as if there is very little chance of it happening.

Story tonight that he is about to sign a bumper new deal at Motherwell. Suggests that he pulled out of the NI job race too. But another non-starter it would seem. I highly doubt he would leave Motherwell for us at this time anyway and have felt this from the start.
