Aye. Reckon they're a bit saggy when unsupported though.

As well as the obvious signings which need to be made: ie striker, left back and possibly defensive midfielder (unless Smith, Fraser, Telfer or Petrie actually get a chance and step up to the plate) I would suggest on current evidence that another experienced attacking midfielder/winger needs to be brought in. Everyone's favourite 3 of Dow, Armstrong and GMS have been (apart from at Dens for 45 mins) woeful. Again, unless Connolly, Spittall (not on the evidence so far) step up we are going to need to do something drastic. Erskine is probably 1st choice in there at the moment, largely because he appears to be the only one who looks like he wants to be here and is trying to make things happen. The body language of the other three is pretty shocking and look like that of a band in its death throes when all the members have fallen out and are just going through the motions.
A couple of observations: Fojut has been poor twice this season: v Celtic and v Killie. We lost both.
Our best team performance where we actually played some good stuff and really looked up for it all over the park came at Dens when Ciftci wasn't playing.
Still think Celtic will win the league, but by christ we'd be kicking ourselves if they did struggle to the line and we are not the one's to be challenging them simply because our better players are off-form/in the huff.

We'll never get a better chance. Hamilton are up there because the are playing good football, believing in the manager and working as a unit. We are up there playing percentages football, looking disjointed and ill at ease with each other and the manager. Celtic looking much the same as us. If we can get our act together we could really do some damage.

I remember being at a Q & A where Jackie said he wanted GMS to be more than just a chalk on the boots left winger. Tonight we were crying out for some sort of width. GMS just looks pissed off with what he is being asked to do these days. Get him back wide left and start giving him the ball.

king james would have done that before now.. listen he's our best player but that was a disgrace fae him tonight...mclean would have done that weeks ago cause its no the first time he's been like that
nae cunts bigger than the club, and if he's not doing it on the park then he's better aff it
we also got beat tonight because again he's nae change when his formation isn't working... for me after 5 minutes it looked like it wasn't working
Agreed on Ciftci and Armstrong. Not good enough. Dow can also count himself lucky as well. We are lacking depth because our young laddies are not really showing enough to challenge for the first team at the moment. We'd be as well just having 2 subbies just now because the other 5 are just there to make up the numbers. This puts a lot of onus on the same 12-13 players to play well week in week out, which they won't as shown by tonight. It also creates a lack of competition for places.
Dundee United » Killie away Friday night » 03/10/2014 9:24 pm |
Cifci off. He's no happy but tbh, just about everyone of our moves have broken down when the ball has went to him. He's been pish this season for the most part and needs to get his finger out.
Whats worrying about this is once GMS was on, we have very little on the bench. Really just bairns who have either not really showed up well ie Spittal, or are not trusted by the manager ie Smith, Telfer. Considering we have about 25 under 20s as well as our u17s is pretty poor stuff. How many of these laddies are actually going to make it? I'd rather have seen one or two more ready made first teamers as opposed to 10 laddies, one of whom might make it.

Spot on. Armstrong in particular not really involved yet.
Final pass is just not there.
Dundee United » Killie away Friday night » 03/10/2014 12:33 pm |
I heard that Graham is on £800 a week. Surely Saints are covering at least part of that? We do need another striker though. Dowser would surely be the one to fill in there tonight if need be though. He's more than capable up front in that like Darren Jackson back in the day, he's quick of thought, nippy and a real pest around defenders. He can also fight his corner, maybe not in the air but you play ball over the top or in the channels and he can battle and get in behind.
Anyway, she's away out tonight so its be bairns away to bed before 8pm and on the drink in front of BT Sport. Braw.

The rest are all arseholes of varying degress. But at least they in someway are responsible for climbing their own greasy pole on there own.And i suppose you have to (grudgingly) admire the business model Mone has built.Though she is a child of Thatcher who's capatilist and Tory nature is everything i despise.Have also heard from people she is a horrible boss to work for and has treated her staff like shit in their East Kilbride factory.Ramsay is the male equivalent, albeit he isnae as good at running a business (has bankrupt a few) but conversely i've heard is actually ok to his staff despite the tv persona.
Traynor is just a fat,Hun loving gimp full of his own self-importance.Thankfully is now 'persona non-grata' in Scottish sports media circles.
My vote goes to Tory 'poster-boy' and future PM Boris the bawbag.
Fair point. I can't stand that Jordan (although she's not exactly attractive but you know what I mean) . Cunt (hope she's in this comp btw). I never realised Mone was disliked by her staff. I knew about her anti-indy stance though which does make her a cunt as well although lets face it, she probably spends most of her time in London anyways so she'll not exactly be missed. Pisser for her staff though. Much like Louise Mensch and Esther McVey, you would, but you wouldn't feel good about yourself after it. Unless it was a menage et trois with Michelle and her daughter, then you'd feel shit hot especially if they get the grapefruit out. ;-)
Anyway, I'm sticking with Boris. Cunt.

I cant stand Gordon Ramsey but equally dislike Jim "I never rated Davie Narey" Traynor. I cant separate them so I'll go for Boris Johnston.
Btw, anyone voting for Michelle Mone is a hypocrite, cos you would bang the fuck out of her given the chance. I know I would. Oh and her daughter as well.

Ok then, when we bumped into her rather than being polite I should have gave her some homophobic abuse then rapped her in the puss in front of the bairns. She actually knew our school. Then again thats probably because we're usually the only school in Scotland below Buckhaven High (where she is seemingly from) in the league tables so she was probably taking pity on us.

Don't know if this is common knowlege but Utd basically have two u20's teams. Basically one team plays games in the Development League whilst the other boys play friendlies against other teams usually ones outwith the development league setup. I guess this is where Joe McGovern, Jordan Moore and Darren Petrie have been hiding. Strange, think they'd be better out on loan.

Dundee United » Question: Can we play better? » 29/9/2014 10:43 pm |
Had this discussion at work today. Everyone is saying that we have not 'clicked' yet and we can pass the ball much better than we have seen so far this season and that when we do someone is going to get a right tanking.
I am wondering if this is the case though. Is what we are seeing at the moment the best we are going to see from us this season?? Tbf we are scoring plenty but we seem to be playing percentages football a lot more. Are we still capable of the free flowing stuff that had us all creaming ourselves last season or did that style go along with Gauld, Robertson and Souttar???
I don't want to sound like a Spurs fan who would rather play good football and win nothing than play poorer football but win trophies, but are we entitled to ask for a bit more than the wee flashes of good football along with the steely wins we are getting just now???
