None of us know what's going on, for all we know United might have tried to change the deal. We just don't know.

Let's see how things play out, if we get him great, it not we move on.

That's just a mistake. He's a forward who plays through the middle and wide. He's not a defender.

i know, every post about him when he signed said he was an attacker, i was just making fun of the stoopid bbc mistake.

Oops sorry, I thought you maybe hadn't seen the interview with him. It's ridiculous the BBC can't get these basic facts right.

Noticed Rory McLeod was back in first team training in the video posted today. No sign of Meshack or Odada, I wonder if they've been told not to bother coming back.

Willie Miller doing his best to try to lay the blame at our door whilst insisting that he's not.

Fuck off ya sheep shagging prick!

No doubt I'll get abuse for saying this, but I do agree with Miller's main point. There is no place for pitch invasions, they seem to be becoming commonplace now. It ruins things for the players too. We never got the chance to give the likes of Walton, Dalby, Gallagher and so on the send off they richly deserved.

None of this excuses the Aberdeen fan, obviously, who absolutely deserves to go to jail and be banned for life from any Scottish stadium.

Just sounds to me like we haven't been sourcing players until recently. I know I'm probably being unnecessarily twitchy this time but we have emptied the entire spine of last seasons team and until I see what we plan to replace them with I'll continue to feel the same.

Courier saying at least ont expect to be made official this week,  not exactly what I was hoping to see tbh

I find it impossible to believe that the Goodwins have just started sourcing players recently. This stuff goes on all year round, but final deals always go to the wire if players have options.

I completely trust that we'll see plenty of incomings in the near future.

For those asking about the transfer window, it opened early for the club world cup. As it can only be 16 weeks in total under FIFA regulations, it's closed again for a week.

In reality it'll have no impact on teams like United, deals can and will still be done, they just won't become official for a week.

Iuvo unknown quantity, although somebody said Svelje recommended him.
Other than that I've got the jitters - as of right now, albeit you'd expect two, three max to come in + Cleall Harding we've gone from last years threadbare squad to more or less the same this year and again (at this stage) glaring omissions.
- Makes the decision to let Docherty all the stranger.

We are not going to only bring in 3 more, that would be utter madness and I think if his hands were tied that tight Jim would be offski in a flash

Mate I hope so I really do, but we're down to loanees and out of contract guys not to mention that of the guys you bring in irrespective of Jim's excellent eye for a player we'll end up with at least one dud - that's just the way it falls.  Not to mention foreigners bedding in to the brutality and pace of Scottish football .... jeez I'll be looking for the Prozac at this rate.
And yeah totally agree about Jim being offski if his hands were tied.

I say this with nothing but respect so please don't be offended, but I'd suggest just chilling out and trusting the process. There will be numerous more signings and both Goodwins will have an extensive list of targets. It just takes a bit of time.

Yep, the seeding advantage is playing a lower ranked team (although I'm not sure how big a difference it'll make). It's not being home or away first.

I usually follow this page, the guys seems really in the know.

https://kassiesa.net/uefa/seedco2025.html

He suggests there isn't a formal regionalisation of the early rounds, but none the less there is an unofficial north/central/south split. (Although you would think west/central/east makes more sense).

If you look at last year's round 2, you can definitely see that teams look to be loosely geographically grouped (Scandinavian, Belgian, Irish teams together in one group, Georgian, Turkish, Hungarian teams together in another etc). I'm not sure why it's all a bit cloak and dagger though, but I don't think we'll be getting send to the outer reaches of eastern Europe.

2 weeks. But the point still stands make them unavailable for 1st team games and notify clubs that they are surplus to requirements.

Tony watt  - surplus to requirements, out on loan from the beginning of the season

Billy King - told by Hearts he wasn't needed we pounced.

Willo Flood - told the same by Middlesbrough, came back to us.

He went to Killie on a 7 day emergency loan, 7 days =1 week

It was two weeks. 7 days loan extended for a further 7 days = 2 weeks.

Trying no tae get goaded here but:
Are you acting for the defence or prosecution here ?
"Impossible to deliberately hit anything" Mate it would be impossible NOT to hit someBODY not someTHING. - An inch higher MacKenzie could be blind in one eye.
"Unfortunately caught the player at a bad angle" - again Whit ! cannae believe this garbage - UNFORTUNATELY ..... CAUGHT ???
"Launched in the direction of the (goading) United fans" - Right - so it would be less of an idiocy if it a silly wee 13 year eejit United Fan had been hit ?
No two ways - catch the guy - you think he'd have previous, throw aways keys for another six months and give Dons 2 points deduction at the start of next season.

Can we take the heat out of the discussion please, I'm absolutely not defending anyone.

My point was an observation that, (in my opinion), he wasn't aiming at McKenzie, he was throwing indiscriminately towards the mass of fans.

The unfortunately caught comment was highlighting that it hit the Aberdeen player at a terrible angle that seemed to cause serious damage, and wasn't far away from losing an eye. I'm not suggesting it was an unfortunate accident, far from it, just that it was particularly unfortunate for the poor player who was seriously hurt.

The bit about launched in the direction of the United fans - in my view that's just a statement of fact. I'd rather the United fans hasn't been there as

Saw the Dalby and Stephenson interviews...Stephenson is still under contract at Liverpool so assuming they are happy to loan him again then that feels like a possibility.

Dalby on the other hand, he was asked if playing in Europe appealed to him, he said of course it does, but realistically that's the only answer he could have given, especially at an awards ceremony. I fear money will talk, as it usually does, but let's see!

The club should have done what they did in the last game last season which was to repeatedly announce that there should be no pitch invasion after the final whistle. That worked.

I guess the difference last season was there had already been two pitch invasions in the week before (v Ayr and Airdrie) so to a certain degree people had got it out of their system. An announcement yesterday that fans should remain in the stand and if they don't the players will immediately leave and not come back out night have done the trick.

Nonsense. A bit of triumphant goading doesn't excuse launching a missile which lets be honest could have been deadly.

It doesn't excuse it, you are absolutely right and I agree. Whoever threw it it 100% responsible for their actions.

That being said, United fans massed in front of the away fans goading them will never end well and I just don't understand the mentality. Why not just celebrate the achievement?

It was nothing to do with the tannoy announcer, they were just passing on police instructions.

There wouldn't have been a second invasion if the players had come back out though, that was obvious.

There is a middle way where we signed better players in the positions that were needed. That's the job of the manager and recruitment team. No signing is guaranteed to be a success but this one went particularly badly. Fiorini, for example, was a very strange signing as that's the one area we are quite well covered.

Am assuming you mean the players who have come through the 'Academy'. I'm sure players like Thompson, Stirton Adams and perhaps O'Donnell and Dewar are good enough to be involved. I'm not sure now their loans are over they're back to being United players. Even allowing for this the gaffer's got to want them involved regardless.

They can't play for United this season under SPFL rules, but hopefully next season we'll see more of them.
