Great effort by the fans.

More tickets just been made available in Jerry Kerr

Still a bit baffled that we've had to keep 3 massive sections of the JK empty.

'pathway' is the biggest bullshit word in football.

the pathway is there for every single player at the club. whether they are 16 or 36 and it's really simple:

be good at football and you'll get a chance

same as its always been.

Ha ha your right I’ll just stick to first names in future 😁

Best one I've seen mate. A Scottish cloud.

Tbf it's a brutal name to spell. I'm not even going to attempt it. Wee Rory will do.

We got a fee for Connolly. I know I'm going a bit AU here but that is BRILLIANT business no matter how minimal it was.

I know I'll get shot down for saying this, but I think it's been a BRILLIANT window so far.

The simple fact is the quality of players we have been tracking and subsequently signed were just not available earlier in the window . These guys have options to consider and are not in the least bit desperate to rush into anything.

The only way to get these players is either to offer huge wages, which we can't, or play the long game and persuade them their interests are best represented here.

The downside is they aren't in place for the start of pre season - for me that's a price worth paying.

It broke my heart to see some of the criticism of the club over the last few weeks, when in reality there have been massive efforts in the recruitment space that are now bearing fruit.

I can't wait to see which top player appears next!

You are setting yourself up to be shot down mate. I feel like you're being overly positive (for whatever reason) in the knowledge that there are plenty fans that are frustrated with the speed of our transfer business.

Most people will generally agree with the core opinion you have, which is that we're holding off on players because we're waiting for our first choice or however you want to put it, but to quote the window as 'BRILLIANT' is just straight up fishing for a reaction in my eyes.

A lot of fans are on board with the process. And even though we might want to see signings ASAP, the majority of fans are fully confident that the recruitment team have been working very hard over the summer to identify the best players to add to the squad.

My advice to you, which you (of course) don't need to take, is to cool it on the extravagant views on what is happening at the club. You saying "I think it has been a good window so far" is an opinion and most would respect it, even if they disagreed. But coming out and saying you think its been a BRILLIANT window, caps and all, just comes across as you looking to rile people

we're 3 away from a strong summer of signings (if they are at the same level as the other 5).

been said elsewhere but we need players to cover multiple positions. A defensive midfielder that can cover centre back too. A winger that can also play as a striker. an attacking midfielder.

I'd say Glass would be better served being a squad player for us. His last two loans have ended in 1 season ending injury and 1 pointless spell at Killie where he played about 60 mins of football over 5 months (total guess btw)

Dunfermline looking to get Mochrie on loan. Apparently some competition for his signature though. League 1 is where he played with Montrose in the Covid season so he's very comfortable at that level. Would prefer him to have a go at the Championship but maybe a big club in league 1 with the pressure that comes with it will do him good.

Definitely a classy player in there. Closest we've come to producing another Stuart Armstrong for me. Hope he smashes it wherever he goes. Meekison and Glass are probably slightly ahead of him in terms of current ability so it seems to make sense to get him some good minutes.

Just seen someone on Twitter saying we should go for Massimo Luongo. Probably just because of our recent Aussie invasion.

But a 29 year old holding midfielder thats played for QPR then Sheff Wed since 2015 could be exactly what we need. And now out of contract.

We really are slow in getting deals done and now I'm hearing murmurs of frustration from JR who wants to hit ground running but the best eleven at his disposal  looks unbalanced and soft. McGrath and Middleton talks have stalled, we are chasing around looking at loan deals, there was even talk a few weeks back of McNulty playing off Fletcher which changed to Clark. Now it looks like we will have target man Fletcher on his own supported by midfield runners.

We need to get deals done now otherwise, by the time any newbies are in and up to speed, we'll be out of Europe and league cup, and going to Motherwell sitting with 2 or 3 points in the league at best.
No joke come October we may well have Pawlett, Harkes, Watt, Fletcher and Clark as starters. God knows who will be in defence as enquiries made for Graham and Edwards.
Dont know about you lot but I'm getting the fear here.
Cue the stay calm and see what happens brigade all telling me to top up my half empty glass

Good post.

Is it? Not in my opinion, just a lot of speculation really.

Agree ADS. Unless Danza(a) is actually suggesting this is fact, it is 100% just a guess of where we're at.

Stuff about Edwards/Graham - you canna control that. Its football and thats how it works. If you have good players, other clubs might want those players.

Must admit I want to see some signings pretty fucking quick though. But have to remember there is still over a month of the window to go. The example mentioned previously of "would you rather have a Levitt in the last seconds of the window or a McNulty on June 1st" really rings true. But hopefully we see movement asap.

True mate. You never know, maybe we'll see a random West Ham loan out of nowhere and we'll know that we took advantage of it.

If that's true then it sure worked out for the best 😂 maybe we should have done it then!!

Surely your assumption is the only way we find players is by other teams rocking up on our doorstep. What if a young Messi is playing at West ham and we hadn't scouted him - would you want us to refuse to look at him in training? Absurd.

If a player falls into our path, it would be remiss of the club NOT to look into it

Confused about what your point is. But obviously if a potentially good, available player falls on your doorstep then you have a look.

My point was that we should have already known about these players through research. And not relying on Teams turning up at our doorstep. If it can work both ways though then of course I'm all for it.

Dundee United » Andy goldie » 22/7/2022 6:13 pm

Fair play to him. Met him once or twice and came across really well and cared about the club. Spot on Tangy in regards to him being career driven. Only 37 with a decent track record behind him. Big boots to fill but the majority of his best work will already be in place at the club so we should be fine moving forward. Would expect the replacement to be a promotion from within.

Do you think that having worked out v well with the Levitt loan that united are looking for a similar deal this year? A fringe man United player or similar?

If we didn’t even at least ask West Ham when they were at St Andrews, then I’d be worried.

I would guess thats not how business is done. If there was a player at West Ham or any club that we wanted to take on loan, we should put in the time to research that player and go after them the proper way. Not just ask them if they have any players available for Loan because they end up by chance to be training at the same facility as you. I'd be worried if we DID ask them if I'm being honest.

Micky might have painted him a bad picture but Jack Ross being a big man & nobody's fool came in thinking he could handle the personnel in place.
What we're seeing just now might be the beding-in process as the two main protaganists lock horns.
I pray it works out & Jack Ross doesn't become a 6-monther.

Jesus fuckin christ. So we've not signed the players at the speed we'd like and suddenly Ross and Asghar are 'locking horns'

The issue here is that we have a sporting director who believes his own hype and, contrary to our hopes that Ross would have driven a hard bargain, he is not being given, even close to, the free rein that he needs. Less than 2 weeks to the start of the season and the old gaps remain together with the new ones (e.g. combative midfielder). We’ve got a nice new badge though (albeit one that’s not on our home shirt).

Agree completely with the 2nd half of this Finn but I feel the first half you are just guessing.

There’s a reason our managers only last one season.

"I think there's a reason our managers only last one season" is what you should have said. Because, again, you are guessing.
