Stephenson won’t be back this early in the window I don’t think. Liverpool won’t even be back for pre-season yet, sorting out his future ain’t gonna be top of their priority list. They might even want him to pad out their squad for their pre-season tour before making any decision on him. Not saying we won’t see him back this window, but don’t think it’ll be any time soon.

We need to get a move on with signing attacking players. Our options at the moment are barren.

Agreed,fast tricky winger who can hit the byeline and cross a ball, and two more strikers but I fear we'll only sign one unless VDS can be offloaded. A bit more creativity in the middle too please. I'm happy with the business done so far other than it being too slow of course. But I guess there is a long way to the end of the window and last year we signed a few after the season started.

We need two wingers, minimum. One to replace Middleton and one who is completely right sided.

And, i agree we need two more Strikers (minimum). We just let go of four (Dalby, Watt, Moult, Paton). We gained Stirton, but even if he stays he's still a kid.

Whole team is needing more experience, age and leadership.

Unpopular opinion, but i'd take Steven Fletcher back for a season.

I think we still need to think about cover in the full back positions. Last season, we used stop-gaps like Stephenson, Sev or Middleton when Strain and Ferry were out. We need a backup for those positions.

Ideally someone in the mould of Sean Dillon who can basically play any position across the back line would be ideal, but they don't come easily.

I would rather see more strikers and wingers signed than a 'creative' midfielder if I'm honest. I've not seen a Goodwin team setup yet where having a system that relied on a good number 10 worked well.

343 and 451 are the systems he excels at in this league and there isn't a lot of space for a Babunski, McGrath, Fraser type in either of those systems.

I want 3 hard working midfielders, two of which can get their foot on the ball when they need to, and another who is box-to-box.

After that, wingers who can beat a man and get the ball in the box for a striker to work with.

I still think we are looking at needing 8 more in the door, minimum.

Bert Esselink’s the Dutch centre half. 25 year old who’s played in Cyprus and Poland his whole career.

Must admit, I am getting a wee bit nervous about all the foreign signings we’re making. I feel it’s a massive gamble ripping the experienced Scottish core that has done so well for us over the past 2 seasons to replace them all with largely inexperienced foreign players. What that does to the dressing room does concern me.

I really hope it doesn’t but I’ve got a feeling this season goes tits up again in big way. We’ve shifted too far away too quickly from what’s made us successful over the last couple of years.
