Clark very quiet wide left but everyone else has been excellent. Shankland and Appere linking up extremely well, could be an excellent partnership.

To be fair to me Clark was our worst player today and I wasn’t the only one who thought it was an odd decision. Still funny though 🤣

Yes he is.

Seemed a mental decision.

Re: Dundee Utd v ICT - 03/08/19

Wouldna say I'm speechless , but extremely surprised by our performance today. I knew we could beat Inverness, but no by such a margin, or in such a fashion.

Dinna think there was any criticism warranted today. Yeah we could had 2 or 3 more.

Dinna ken what sort of bonus Shanks is on for each goal, but if he keeps scoring like that, he'll  bankrupt the Club.

When did we last see a performance like that. Come to think ie it, when was the last time ane oe oor players hit 4. Well at Tanny, my memory if not too shaky suggests it was Gary McSwegan.

Only been tap oe the League for twa oors, but Yee phucking ha.

Absolutely fantastic start to the season! Shankland stays fit along with Butcher and the two center halves and we finally steamroller this division. Fucking delighted tonight! Shankland only player ever to score four goals for us and against us I'd wager?

Re: Dundee Utd v ICT - 03/08/19

Pre match was good. Appreciating players fae the past over such a long period was really good, worked well with 7000 Arabs on a sunny as fk day.

Jimmy McIntyre's reception was a hilarity of noise and songs, topped it for me. Whoever organised all that needs some fkn credit.

4 Shankland goals and an all round good performance fae the other 10 with fight and backing fae the 12th man made it one tae remember.

Happy as fuck & chuffed for all involved including the higher than usual number of bairns that were there today.

Okay so its 2 up front and 3 positive players behind home AND away.....we will blow a lot of teams away if we attack them.

Re: Dundee Utd v ICT - 03/08/19

Holding my hands up here, I've maybe mentioned that I wasn't that impressed by Shankland in the past, but he looks the real deal.

Very pleased with the overall performance, and when we appeared to go into a lull after the third, bringing on Smith seemed to give us a bit of a boost again.

Thought there were a few blips here and there, but I'm not going to tarnish the performance by going on about them.

Re: Dundee Utd v ICT - 03/08/19

We didnt perform well the full game but done enough and we should have had more.
as PR says above few blips here and there but today was a hell of a lot better than i expected.

just hope it continues and gets better.

Re: Dundee Utd v ICT - 03/08/19

Obviously Shankland will get tall the headlines and rightly so 4 goals for a UTD striker is a rare occurrence.
A few other mentions are needed,
Smith a RB its like night and day compared to Watson
Connolly- ICTs only tactic the long hoof to White- White was posted missing and eventually hooked unlike some others Im a big fan of Connellys aggressive style.
Apperre excellent performance from the young lad, Intelligent player, strong, with a lot of skill.
Slightly different feeling tonight compared to the first match of last season,

I’m in the same boat. Never appreciated how good he was till he was playing in tangerine. He’s an unbelievable talent and I hope that once he leaves us (which I’m sure he will) that he goes on to have an incredible career. He definitely has the talent.

Re: Dundee Utd v ICT - 03/08/19

I really rated Shankland after seeing him destroying us last season. But must confess i wasn't sure about the signing as i worried we wouldn't give him the service he needs.

Today, we did. And he destroyed ICT singlehandedly.

We must look to get the ball into the box quick and often for this guy and he'll do the rest.

Best finisher we've had since Johnny Russell.

Re: Dundee Utd v ICT - 03/08/19

Reminded me of Billy Dodds' debut. I mind saying to my mate (Pigdenis) that the only way he would win me over was if he rattled in a hat trick on his debut. Shankland just blew that debut away!! I hope some arab geniuses out there are working on Laurence of Arabia t-shirts.

It's not where you're from it's where you're at.

Re: Dundee Utd v ICT - 03/08/19

His performance today gives me so much confidence for future games. He’s shown that even when we aren’t playing well he’ll be able to score so we always have a goal in us.

As they say, The bookies rarely get it wrong and they have us as firm favourites now. Well done to Robbie Neilson too. I, like many questioned his selection today but he got it bang on. We have the best manager in the division, hopefully he continues to install more confidence in the side.

Expecting an excellent crowd through in Glasgow on Friday, hopefully it’s a cracker.

Re: Dundee Utd v ICT - 03/08/19

He only scores 4
He only scores 4
Laurence Shankland
He only scores 4.

Absolutely brilliant today, loads of positives, but only the first game of the season so not getting totally carried away. Everybody played well, including Clark imo, especially as being played out of position. I was really pleased for Cammy Smith as thought he played really well when he came on.

That was brilliant yesterday. It's about time.

Kept saying to the young lad how good Shankland is. His touch and movement are superb.

Too much commotion

Re: Dundee Utd v ICT - 03/08/19

Some performance yesterday. Massive statement of intent. I felt nervous about these first 4 games but having now seen ICT, Dundee and Dunfermline all live I feel like we can go into these games with confidence. Not saying we'll win all 4 but play like that and we'll do pretty well.

Shankland, just outstanding. If he stays injury free he could hit 30/40 goals this season.

Every single other player deserved pass marks or more yesterday which is rare. Not a single performance below a 7/10. Delighted to see Cammy come on and play up with Shankland.

We are in a position now where we still have Pawlett and Sow to come back to full fitness and also a potential addition of Frear. I feel like having those options are going to serve us very well.

Trying to keep a lid on the excitement but yesterday was seriously encouraging.

Louise Appere btw... insane turnaround for the guy.

Re: Dundee Utd v ICT - 03/08/19

Great performance all round, look what happens when you attack teams in the league eh?!

Appere outstanding first half in particular, I believe he is out of contract next summer?  Get him signed up again.

Only thing that annoyed me about the performance was their goal - we had a goal kick, the ICT players were all still shuffling back into position and Benji had the ball down ready to take it.  McMullan was standing all by himself and screaming for it.  Benji saw him but decided to wait and took it short to Reynolds - we lose it easily and they score from the corner.
