Dundee United vs East Fife - Tuesday 23rd July (7.45pm)

Tuesday will see us up against East Fife. We haven't played the men from Methil in a competitive match for 28 years.

The last match in question was a 2-1 win for Utd (A.E.T) in a Scottish Cup Replay. The winner was scored by 19 year old Striker Duncan Ferguson (his 1st goal for the club). This win came after Utd narrowly avoided a massive shock at Bayview just 3 days previously. A 94th minute equaliser from Paddy Connolly sparing Utd's blushes.

The Fifers have proved to be a hard nut for Utd to crack over the history of our club. We have played them 72 times with Utd winning 30, losing 25 and drawing 17 of the matches.

East Fife have played 2 Betfred Group matches so far. A 2-0 defeat away to Cowdenbeath and a 2-0 win at home to Stenhousemuir.

We of course played our opening pre-season friendly at Bayview just 3 weeks ago. A 1-1 draw with Nicky Clark equalising for Utd.

Hoping we record a better scoreline on Tuesday.

Assuming we win, 10 points hasn’t ever not been enough to get through as at least a best runner up.

when is the draw for the second round?

Bloody hell. 28 years ago. I remember a pitch invasion after the late late equaliser at bayview. Nice wee clubbie they had under the stand as well.

Was at that 1st game in the EF end, United kit on, they really never used to bother about stuff like that back in the day. Took some stick from the kids round about until the late equaliser.  Struggled like fuck in the replay too, we seemed to go through a wee run of struggling against the ‘wee’ teams around that period.

I'm fully expecting another, comfortable, 3 - 0 win with Shankland once again amongst the goals.

Re: Dundee United vs East Fife - Tuesday 23rd July (7.45pm)

I’d like to see us win more than 3-0, our League Cup scores getting a little better each time.

Yeah, think it was a ‘leisurewear’ range or something

Seen videos of him in gym etc so dont think he is. Agreed, but losing him and Bouhenna definitely leaves us short on cover there.

Seen a few comments already on social media that say 'thank fuck no connolly' etc. Baffling. Connolly is better than Watson. He isnt the best but as a defender he is more than good enough for us in our current state and 100% in our best  starting 11.

Sure my bro had it. In saying that, he also had the salmon pink one too.

Re: Dundee United vs East Fife - Tuesday 23rd July (7.45pm)

Bit of a minter of a half to be honest. They’ve cut right through us a number of times now and we been back to the usual sideways, pedestrian football.

Plenty time to change it but it’s been pretty brutal so far.

Re: Dundee United vs East Fife - Tuesday 23rd July (7.45pm)

When we get a more offensive minded manager to use the US phrase then we might get better. I think we will limp on through the first quarter be 5th and 8 points adrift then he will go by a slow painful death. And it will be playoffs at best. Play and repeat for yet another season for the one season jolly

Am I right in thinking that not even Csaba managed such a shitshow in the Betfred?

Fucking make a change now.

If anyone says who could do any better then it’s more fuel to the Neilson out fire. It’s the worst excuse for not sacking him.
