Butcher Red Card

What is the ruling regarding the straight red?  i'm i correct in assuming he will miss the QoS game plus the next cup game vs Cally/County?

I always thought a straight red for violent conduct meant you missed the next 2 games immediately thereafter. Which would mean he misses QotS away and Falkirk away.

But I could be wrong on that R2R.

Re: Butcher Red Card

Can’t find the disciplinary procedures on SFA site, used to be easy to find so think they’ve been taken off.

Think it depends whether he was sent off for violent conduct or serious foul play.  Will def miss Saturday then if it’s violent conduct next 2 games I think, if serious foul play next cup game.  Going from memory so could be wrong.

I'm not seeing how it can be classed as violent conduct tbh, serious foul play perhaps. Then again forearm smashes are considered acceptable so fuck knows!

Re: Butcher Red Card

Also just heard on BBC Scotland news that McGinns assault on Cammy Smith is to have no further action, cited as "insufficient evidence", have thay not seen Scotsport, Arabzone, St midden TV, STV sports news, BBC scotland, etc, etc, all freeze framed, enlarged, analyzed and all in agreement it was worthy of a red. (maybe not st midden tv) SFA  Blinkered, protecting their half wit officials.

Well put R2R, you're bang on. Very disappointing.
But, to take a positive from a negative, the St Mirren captain not being banned will help St M's cause in vital league games to come if you get my drift.

I agree, would imagine it’s serious foul play, but Willie Collum....

Re: Butcher Red Card

After Power from Kilmarnock got away with booting a Hun player in the face i would be appealing Butcher's red.

Particulary as the St.Mirren player has his boot even higher up on Butcher's body.

Re: Butcher Red Card

It's a real lottery presently, refereeing standards.

I think Willie Collum has simply been left off the appointments listings for this week, which might be seen as a reprimand, the SFA not wanting to officially recognised he fucked up, especially in the case of McGinn's assault on Cammy Smith.

And of all the controversies lately, that is the mistake which was, in my view, most likely to cause serious damage, as it was a deliberate blow to the head of a player.

And, wait for it, this week at Palmerston we've got.....................................

Courier today saying, "Neilson expects to be without midfielder Calum Butcher for this league game plus the William Hill Scottish Cup quarter-final".

Makes sense, serious foul play, 1 game immediate then 1 in the cup is what it used to be and looks like it still is.

Wonder why the disciplinary procedures aren’t on SFA site anymore tho? Certainly not where they used to be.

They wouldn’t take any other case into consideration in an appeal, each case on its own merit.
And it was definitely a deserved red for Butcher.

The whole system is a joke tho and there is no consistency whatsoever.  The clubs moan about it every year, but refuse to force change each summer when it could be pushed thru.

Yeah the suspensions are still updated weekly, but the various competition disciplinary rules seem to have gone.  Prob just me.

Re: Butcher Red Card

Read that even if a compliance officer pulls someone up for a panel decision the panel consists of the ex refs and requires a unanimous decision.

This is where part of the problem lies for sure in my opinion. The chances that one of the panel can scupper the whole process with a biased, balancing up or bee in their bonnet is there.

We have lawyers blocking the initial the instigation knowing they are up against proving without doubt due to celtic and the rangers having big lawyers to fight them, the majority who decide the outcome on the side of the ugly sisters and the same with the refs.

Whole thing needs taken appart and put back together in a way that is fair for all.

Edit to say:- I like that the rangers have called for a review of the whole thing and find it ironic but recently the norm that they put out a toddler style knee jerk statement in the huff. Bring on the fairer system without bias!

Listen fae around 12 mins...

VAR will clear up fuckall compaired to most countries unless we get the current issues tae fuck!
