Scottish cup fever and we are on course to sell out the away end.
Whats your line up?

It's a free hit for us, is it not? The league's the big thing, but a day out for the Cup is always welcome. Glad I got talked into getting a ticket on Saturday.
Robbie surprised us on Saturday with his line up, so don't expect to guess it right this week, but surely Mark Reynolds will sit it out, so that someone can get game time beside Connolly before the next 2 after Paisley on plastic?

Reyonolds isnt out for the plastic stuff 100% btw. Old news. No sure what line up will be but and maybe its something they wont risk two games in a row. He starts Saturday and is captain. End of.
How do you know this, for certain?
Anyway, it might not matter, Willie Collum is the referee on Saturday.

I'd heard Aberdeen have banned him from playing on plastic.

St Mirren have a grass pitch, unless they’ve changed it very recently.

its the 2 games after everyone fretting aboot
Oh right, I never read it properly. Shite news if Reynolds can’t play against Falkirk or QotS. One of Bouhenna or Frans might be all right to come in and play with Connolly, it’s the two of them playing together that gives me the fear.

dont - just know folk in club. Apart from an old newspaper article who says he cant play on plastic now? No idea if he will play on plastic but heard its our RN's choice.
This old newspaper article was published just two weeks ago.
From that it might be he doesn't have the same confidence on plastic as he may display on grass.
Who do you know in the club? I don't know anyone very well who are in key positions at the club.
Finally, sorry if I sound doubtful, it's just my nature.

Quite honestly sick to death of this moaning about playing on (the very best of) artificial turf.
See when I was a kid I developed my skills and love of football playing round the car parks surrounding my street, on 2 sides of the scheme.
There was a big'ish carpark with big steel fences all around 3 sides of it (to stop cars hitting the houses or fall down the wee dook), on one side.
Me and the neighbourhood kids played on this wee bit of ground for hours day in day out, every fucking day when the car park was quiet. Hour after hour.
No one ever badly hurt. And every single young lad improved as a footballer playing every day.
My tuppence worth...
1) Most other boys on here played their daily fitba in similiar conditions as a young boy i.e (car parks, concrete, ash, etc)
2) Most of the's Pro's will be absolutely fine playing on 'plastic'. Serious injuries on this surface are roughly about 50/50 with grass surfaces.
Oh and....
3) It's the Scottish Cup. The oldest national Cup competition in WORLD Football.
A trophy we have only held aloft TWICE in 110 years.
We play our ABSOLUTELY strongest team available and attempt to win the game in front of an away support which will almost match (but certainly outsing) the away support.

Couldn't agree more, good post!

I don't think anyone disagrees about him playing this Saturday (read post 8). It's the following 2 games on plastic pitches I don't think he will play on. His original injury was done on a plastic pitch (Elgin's I think but could be wrong). Is it not that Aberdeen are saying he shouldn't be playing on this type of surface this season.
From the Daily Record article
He has been told he won’t be allowed to play on artificial pitches this season.
Aberdeen head to Hamilton tomorrow night and the
centre-half will need to sit out as well as next week’s Scottish Cup replay at Stenhousemuir.
Reynolds said: “I won’t play on them again this season as there is too high a chance of re-injury so I’ll wait until the summer and speak to the physios to see where we go from there.

I'd prefer him to play, just think Robbie might be looking at the games thereafter and wanting to familiarise someone beside Mark Connolly for that.
He is Aberdeen's player, there may be a stipulation about plastic pitches in the loan deal, while, on the other hand, he's out of contract at the season's end. Who knows?

I just edited my post but you obviously haven't seen it. I quoted from the paper

Same team as last week for me unless butcher is injured and I’d bring stanton in

This could be a first an away support out singing the away support
However yes agree to go with strongest possible team

I remember decades back watching the news with my Dad and there was a clip of Andy Roxburgh demonstrating dribbling skills to a group of Brazilian street kids. They watched with incredulity, took the ball off him and ran away. I still recall my Dad's response.... "Hellsboodyteeth, that's what's wrong with Scottish football"

How is the gate split between the 2 clubs?

Approx a third each .

There's a fair difference between a kid playing on gravel and a fully grown athlete with adult musculature who knows what happens to his knees when he plays on astro. The jumpers for goalposts analogies don't cut it at this level. A guy hitting his 30th is far more susceptible to muscle and tendon problems

Reynolds been training on our Astro btw

Cans on a school night never works out well.🙈

There's a new 5 a side pitch near me that the team I play for started using. The amount of times my feet would dig in when trying to get under the ball was scary. After an hour my knee felt fucked so I can understand a wee bit where Reynolds is coming from.

Bit late but does anyone know of spaces left on buses going on Saturday?
