Re: Deadline day thread

Much, much better window than expected, hope the players, some of whom we must be surprised to get, can all stay fit and contribute to the cause.

Don't expect miracles though, as football fans it's one extreme or the other for many: this is a hard league with workmanlike sides in the main. It's just we, as a team, rarely put in enough effort and pressurised other teams, and I hope that is about to change (along with the formation).

Best of luck to the new guys, and also to the players, however poor some looked for us, who have left.

Of course just let me know

I'm tempted by >6,000 but always get it wrong, the optimist route isn't always the right one.
So can I say <6,000 & if I'm wrong I'd be chuffed with the gate & happy to lose the bet?

If all the January signings turn up that should boost the gate too!

Go for it

Re: Deadline day thread

Great ambition shown by the club long overdue.

It's a good job we have a million coaches as we will need them for the amount of players we have. 15 aside at training.

Been some window up till now, especially with a clear out of duds.

Now for sow to sign and a massive push in the last 14 games!

Most of the duds have been loaned out though? How much of their wages are United paying? And when the loan deal is up? Back here.

They surely must be paying something for the players. Atleast it gets them away from Tannadice though and allows the first team squad a chance to focus on getting us up.  Besides, most of them are pish. Theres a reason no ones wanting them on a permanant!!

Re: Deadline day thread

Magnificent effort from the Board. Desperately needed after the third totally abject display of season against the might of Ayr. And about the 9th or 10th overall.

Shame a few more duds weren't emptied but at least it's a start.

Re: Deadline day thread

Tell you what, needed a lie down by midnight, never seen anything like that in my time supporting United.
I hope we can get all 11 up to fitness and available asap.

Agree with this, also for me the thing that stands out in this window apart from the obvious quality incoming is that bar Seaman all the players are permanent signings and hopefully more committed as a result.

Re: Deadline day thread

Your point remains valid Redford despite Nesbitt & Laidlaw being loaners also.

Nesbitt is on a short term deal but not on loan, or so I thought anyway

Re: Deadline day thread

I couldn't really say my opinion last night.

Think I was stunned/shocked. Surpassed expectation for once.

Fell asleep thinking what line up we could play and confused by the many many options.

As long as what's been done is done well financially it's fine.

Sow's knees are done and is a risk as are some others. Hard to attract quality without spending daft cash.

Hopefully those on loan are on a better than bad financial balance for us.

Wee bit worried and a big bit sceptical especially about Asghar although he seems to have done well in his job so far as long Mal Brannigan is doing as good a job on the finance side to match what Asghar seems to have helped achieve & might take massive credit for in bringing in and offloading.

So far I'm actually delighted with the Ogren factor although he lied to us in his 1st interview massivley.

Better to be told a good lie than the bad lies we have recently been given that split the support when he said,"there won't be wholesale changes".

Agree with  much of this: time will tell (relating to your last sentence).

It's good we look to have a comprehensive pool of players now.

Regarding OsSow and his knees, is this well known? For a lad that's 6'3" he doesn't as I mind have a spring as he jumps, not winning as much in the air as might be expected, very few headed goals too. On the other hand, he seems to score quite a few from distance, so has a decent strength in his legs.

He'll do well for us, I'm sure.

The knees thing comes to me fae a Jambo mate who loved him and wishes him well so that is all.

Fitness issues can be overcome sometimes.

If you watch his highlights playing for hearts he hits the bottom corners alot fae mainly far out. He is a good striker for sure.

Nicky Clark is almost the complete opposite type. He is clever at moving intae the right place at the right time.

Not saying they should be playing together but they are affy diffenent in being good in different ways which might be a fucker for defences in this league after being so fkn predictable.
