Dundee Utd v Ayr Utd 30/11/18

Massive game friday against top of the table Ayr Utd. We should have a very good support and hopefully a good atmosphere.

Who would you go with?
Siegrist
Watson
Booth
Bohenna
Edge
Stanton
Fyvie
Mcmullan
Aird
Clark
Safranko

So just Fyvie for Rabitsch then? I suppose that is the likely line-up. Leaving out Frans & King. Then Curran, Robson, Smith, Rabitsch on the bench too.

Our back 4 options - Watson, Murdoch, Frans, Bouhenna, Edje, Booth, Robson. Got to be honest, gives me the fear a  wee bit which is most unlike me - anyone who pulls on a tangerine jersey is phukn brilliant in my eyes. But could we not do with a Webster or a Fojut in there? If Robbie can conjure up a solid back four from what he's inherited that can get us out of this league he's a good man. Or am I being a bit harsh?

Re: Dundee Utd v Ayr Utd 30/11/18

I'd play King ahead of Clark and get McMullan back in behind Pavol.

I'd also play Murdoch ahead of Watson who struggled last Tuesday with people running at him at pace and also with his distribution and really did look like a centre half playing at right back.

Other than that, it picks itself at the moment.

Too much commotion

Very harsh on defence imo smedum, vast improvement, I’ve not seen a better defender in the league than bouhenna the guy is absolutely quality

I'd play Watson.

He's a genuine goal threat.

Re: Dundee Utd v Ayr Utd 30/11/18

Weather is to be pishing down in Dundee all week.

But dry and mild on Friday night.

Hope our pitch can take a week of rain however.

I'd bring Frans back in for Edge. I know he's done well recently but i thought he looked a wee bit slow last week.

Re: Dundee Utd v Ayr Utd 30/11/18

If win 4-0 on Friday we are top of the league.

Slim chance, but what a turnaround since Neilson came in that a good win even gives us that chance.

Reminder we were 11 points behind Ayr when he took over (only 6-7 weeks ago).

I am being a bit harsh I think & you're right, Bouhenna might turn out to be an excellent signing. The other six are all most definitely playing 20% better than they were & that might be good enough on its own. But if I was to make one addition to the squad it would be a talisman central defender who would be a kingpin with an inspired team around him.
Success is built from the back forward.

Re: Dundee Utd v Ayr Utd 30/11/18

If Frans is fit I would bring him back in place of the Edge.
The edge has done Ok in his wee comeback, however for me Frans has more to his game and the best 11 should be on the park at all times.

Agree. Said it earlier in thread id prefer Frans to be in the team.

Re: Dundee Utd v Ayr Utd 30/11/18

When Ellis took us to Ayr (0-2) we came away 8 points off the top. 11 points to their 19.

7 games later we could both be on 30. (fingers crossed) Quite remarkable.

Aye its been some turn around.  Win tomorrow and we are putting a right statement down that we are on the march.

Re: Dundee Utd v Ayr Utd 30/11/18

Thinking about this, I'd keep Edge in, with Frans on the bench.

Big Willie has done nothing wrong in the three games since his comeback, and his form is as good, if not better, than shown by FF this season.

Watson gave away one penalty, and probably should have been penalised for another. We need a proper right back in January.

What is the weather like in Dundee? Any chance of the game being off?

Nae chance it will be off imo. Couple light showers this morning.  Dry this afternoon with a moderate breeze.
Was heavy rain yesterday but that had gone by evening.

Re: Dundee Utd v Ayr Utd 30/11/18

Shambles - Watson really not a RB and it's cost us (tho issues throughout)

Back down to earth with a bump - probably been coming ad we've been getting away with it last few games

...and while I'm in the mood for a rant...what exactly does King add to the team?

Re: Dundee Utd v Ayr Utd 30/11/18

Fucking shameful performance so far, given the importance of the match.

Booth, Watson, Edjenguele and Bouhenna all over the place and getting rag-dolled by Shankland.

Stanton, McMullan, King, Šafranko anonymous.

Only Fyvie, Rakovan and Aird anywhere near it tonight.

Huge response required in the 2nd half.
