Re: OLD/RARE UNITED PICTURES

I'd like that sky blue trim on a future top.

Wee nod to the Tornado's.

Re: OLD/RARE UNITED PICTURES

Not a bad shout. Think we were the 1st team ever to play under the name Dallas Tornado.

Last match we played in the USA we beat Juventus 1-0.

Playing in Tangerine is a big part of our fitba culture and identity and might never have happened if we hadn't beaten Barcelona in 1966 which resulted in the invite I think.

Edit to say-

To then beat Barca later whilst wearing the Tangerine makes the factor go full fkn circle in a very unique style.

Re: OLD/RARE UNITED PICTURES

Hard to imagine mixed unsegregated crowds these days. Surprised it took until then...

Re: OLD/RARE UNITED PICTURES

Not sure where Jim and Wattie the turncoat were off to here but considering it was in a Cessna it must of being somewhere off the beaten track.

That's a very interesting photo---did he ever play a game wearing that kit?

It's not where you're from it's where you're at.

Henry Hall was my PE teacher for a time, an ok guy for a jimmie. Alex Rennie lived up the road in Carronshore, and had a driving school after his football career. Sadly, he died earlier this year.

Frankie Kopel too was from the area local to me, but I think he had relocated to Angus in the later part of his life.

I was at Whitfield high in the early eighties, if memory serves me well he was managing Brechin at the time.

Has to be a testimonial.  Does that not include Willie Miller, Roy Atiken, Tommy McLean and Trevor Brooking?

Can name a few (but not all).

Top row i see Willie Miller, Trevor Brooking and Roy Aitken.

Bottom row i see Pat Jennings (unusually not in a Goalie top), Lisbon Lion Bobby Lennox, our old Manager Tommy McLean and Andy Rolland (who's testimonial i'm guessing it was?).

Another couple of faces i feel like i should know and are on the tip of my tongue.

Where did you see that pic Pat?

Re: OLD/RARE UNITED PICTURES

My eyes are not what they used to be but dont think its Trevor Brooking or Pat Jenni gs.
I do see ex Dundee keeper Ally Donaldson
and what looks like Pat Gardner back left.

Re: OLD/RARE UNITED PICTURES

Think the goalie is ally Donaldson the Dundee goalie who wee jim liked and eventually done a bit of coaching for us

Re: OLD/RARE UNITED PICTURES

Also think that’s paddy gardiner and Doug Smith in front of him

Re: OLD/RARE UNITED PICTURES

Looking again i am now myself doubting that's Trevor Brooking.

Is it Bobby Gould?
