i thought we were so so to start with done what we needed to do but as it went on towards the end of half we got stronger.
better team second half.
nowhere near as many chances created as last 2 games but a real test and a great victory over all.
delighted to keep a clean sheet on the road only our second of the season. another huge one at home to queen of the south next week who are only 2 behind us so nothing but a win next week for me.
1823 away fans also fantastic effort

A solid 7/10 performance from us today was enough to see off a pretty poor Dunfermline side.
The keeper and defence were solid enough and made the two Dunfermline lads look very poor and were in control from start to finish.
The midfield bossed it also with the captain as per running the show, always available a never shirked responsibility. King gave the ball away a few too many times for my liking but came up with the goods when it mattered ( great vision from McMullen to spot him).
Safranko and McMullen what a threat they two are and the weed man scored a cracking header. The big fella was magnificent all day 10/10 for effort also.
Man of the match was the ever present Steak bridie- fuckin magnificent from start to finish and it never fails to disappoint.
On to queens next week where we can build on this momentum before Ross County.

Great result and support on the anniversary of the 1st time we played under the name Dundee United. 27th of October 1923. 95 years ago today. Hopefully we can carry on uniting and improving under RN. Mibbies even another Scottish Cup win in a 2nd centenary(ish) season 5 years from now. 😉💛

I loved today. Yeah , not brilliant but still good.
There's a baseball film( I like baseball) few good men. Kevin Costner. Line in it, if you build it they will come. True words. All we want is 11 boys knocking their pans in.
Happy as!

It would be good if some results go our way but all we need to concentrate on is getting 3 points every week. The rest will all drop points to each other

I thought 1st half was boring and so too did a number of fans sitting near me, they only thing that saved it was McMullan's goal. Couldn't understand why United never went after a really poor Dunfermline team especially with a decent target man in the team at long last. Pleased to see that that United made more efforts to attack in the 2nd half and deserved the win which should have been greater but for McMullan's miss and possibly Stanton's non penalty award which looked decent to me. Only 6 shots from United of which 2 on target, sufficient to see off a poor team like Dunfermline but perhaps not enough when we play the crunch games against better sides.

Appreciate yer honest opinion on how you saw it annan. Getting carried away with results like this won't guarentee anything but for me the the all round boost is refreshing and needs to be boosted in a way as thorough as the critical analysis you perfect and repeat.
We seem to have a minority intent on doing positive things like what the display squad throw time and effort at. Do you have any ideas on how to unite the team and support bud. Any ideas on how to do this best/better bud? Not taking this piss by the way.

First half wasn’t great, big improvement in the second and a deserved win. Even though we are not playing sincilating football we absolutely no doubt look a much more organised, fitter and motivated outfit under Neilson.
Just need to keep putting points on the table and keep in touch until January and hoefully Robbie can add one or two to the squad.

Been watching United for 45 years now, don't think there's been much to be happy about in the last 5. How many of Csaba's 42 games were enjoyable to watch. Same applies to Ray and Mixu and Jackie ( in his last 9 months). I'm happy with Neilson's appointment and welcome the all round boost he's created but forgive me if I'm no jumping for joy on yet another day when we've had more bookings than shots on target. I go to games hoping to see goals and shots cos that's what I think the game should be about.

Mr annanarab, I'm not entirely sure what you're expecting but in football, it's all about putting the fitba in the back of the net which utd did twice today. Two decent goals may I add.
I honestly couldn't give a flying monkeys about the bookings, it's all about getting the 3 points which utd fully deserved today. Also moved up a place, hopefully results go our way during the week and utd catch up next weekend with a win.

Annan is one of my favourite posters on here fwiw.
Yes, he is hard to please, but so am i.
Heard United fans saying today 'County will be really hard to catch'.
They have Gardyne, McKay and Graham in their ranks. Good Championship players? Yes.
But let's not forget who we are please and what the standard should be.
It's a very positive start from Neilson.
But it's 'baby steps' at the moment in terms of where we wan't to be as a club.
Delighted there is a good feeling back btw (myself included).
But let's keep grounded/humble.
And let's not underestimate what this club is capable of.
Last 2 away games = 3,000 fans...Outstanding.
Top 6 Scottish club. And should be a thorn in anyone's side.

i do think some people are getting to excited about the appointment, last 3 games getting 7 points but in their defence this has been much needed and long overdue to get someone in that appears to know what they are actually doing in charge of the team.
If Laszlo was still in charge and you were offered 7 points from those 3 games most would have bit your hand off for it and prob would have thought in reality 5 at most!
Im keeping my feet on the ground at the moment we need to keep it up and go to places like county inverness etc and take points. Also our home games we need to really make them count and the support can go a long way to help as can the players coming out and putting a performance in the fans respond to this and vice versa.
We know we wont win every game but what a difference in players performances over the past 3 games they are atleast trying a hell of a lot more and have alot more shape etc about them. Even the movement has been totally different!
Yeh we didnt have as many shots at goal today but they done what was needed and over the 90 deserved to win that game comfortably.

Agree with a lot of TEK’s post and Bowers.
I’ll add
Football is about winning, it’s all that matters. How the team plays is a side issue which in our current position really doesn’t matter.
Every time we get a new manager folk get carried away far too easily. The initial signs are good with RN but this squad has no depth and he’s still got a very hard job ahead.
Dundee United should never be worrying about catching Ross County. We should be strolling this league, but we should have the last 2 years aswell. Until we are back as that top 6 club no one should really be that happy watching us.

I am very happy with the result yesterday, I cannot comment on the performance though as I can not longer get to away games now.
I was confident of the win in the build up to the game during the week but the clean sheet not so much as I am still suspicious of that defence and goalkeepers at this time.
Hope this marks the start of a long run of good form and a string title challange which ends successfully.
So far so good for Robbie but realistically we've beaten teams who are on a poor run of form and who offer little goal threat.
Dunfermline have only scored two home goals in the Championship this season.
Not knocking the improvement but a long way to go with some downs as well as ups I suspect
Roma wasn't built in a day.
As Craig Curran said to me in the post office two weeks ago, 'it'll take us a month to get fit, we'll pick up points as we go and in the end it'll be between us & Ross County'.
Robbie Neilson's word y'day was 'resilience'. It was a dogged performance rather than a flowing one, Pars had to be broken down, they're fighting tooth & nail & their manager (who I rate) & players desperate for a result y'day.
And the longer the game went on the more confident was our play, dispelling the tired- last-thirty-minutes accusations in Robbie's first two games.
All in all, a braw day

Agreed SlatefordArab. All we can do is keep on getting the points to keep us in the mix until January. I don't think the squad is good enough to win promotion but hopefully wrong. Every week the first result I look for is Ross County's in the hope they slip as they're the team to beat IMHO.

The entitlement of some of our fans is hurting usbin my opinions. We were good and massively overachieved in the 80s so we should constantly be great? I know I'll get heat for that but it's nonsense.
Also this current trend of playing down results because the opposition wasn't good....I'm sorry have we been awesome over the last few months or have we been complaining about being awful? So why does a win over a supposedly poor side that beat us last time mean we shouldn't be over the moon with how things are going? Context is key.

I'll add....people are more than happy to go over the top when things aren't good and then complain when folk are happy for wins. Hypocritical beyond belief

It's nothing to do with the 80's.
We should be a top 6 Scottish side. Would you not agree?
Again, it's a very positive start from Neilson and i am feeling more positive about his appointment and Utd in general than i have in a long time.
You seem to have missed that point in my post.
