Hes also no very good IMO.
Like I said before I don't have a fucking clue who I want and I don't trust those in charge of making the right appointment.
He did win a Scottish cup with an unfancied team thoughWont be the first or last manager to cause an upset in a final.
I think it's more the fact that he took an unfancied side to the final and won it, also had them very difficult to play against. But hey, opinions and all that.

It'll be Neilson or someone totally left field I reckon.

Could be worse. Seems like a leader that players will respect but who the feck really knows. Apart from Tommy McLean, Levein and arguably Houston every manager since JYM has been a dud IMO. So not much to live up to really. Could be argued that Macnamara did well for a spell but the events since then have left him soiled goods to say the least.

I'm sorry Robson and Daly shat in your kettle though.
Ok numoty? That wasn't too difficult now, was it?
I'd like to apologise, in kind, for daring to mention that I wanted Luggy in as manager. I didn't mean to upset you cupcake.
By your rationale, Wee Jim would never have got the gig since he'd never managed before.
Meanwhile, Luggy, a manager who spunked more money than any other Utd manager, put us into the historic debt that 20 years later we still feel the effects of, and all whilst playing absolutely horrific football should be offered the job. And that's before we mention his illness.
But I'm a cupcake. And a numoy. Very good.

I don't think now is the time to take a chance on an untried manager. As much as I like Jon Daly and Barry Robson, I think they'd be too big a risk. Even Neilson is a risk for me. I can't see past the Levein factor with him.
I'd hope we sound out Tommy Wright (trying to avoid making it public knowledge). Chances are he won't be interested but he's the best realistic candidate. Failing that, McIntyre and Dodds for me.

So the fruitcake has left the building and already despite being manger-less I feel way more confident than what I did this time last week.
I don't think getting a manager who has experience of getting out of this league is necessary, I think a manager who can get the basics right and drive home what each players duties are will get us back on our winning ways and get promotion.
The question is, do we go for a manager who is good enough to get us promoted then we the revisit the manager situation, or do we try and get a manager who can get us up and then keep us up?
I'd heard rumours previously that Neilson had agreed to take over at United IF Laszlo was punted at the end of last season. Ive no idea if there is any truth in that. I'm not sold on him if I'm honest.
I think we can speculate all we want, but our next manager will depend on who's interested in the job and who we can afford. We can only appoint someone who is interested in taking the job.

Gled he's away, wouldn't want Coyle or McIntyre, Cathro I'd take but only for youth development (seemingly great at coaching the younger kids.) I can see why people would want Neilson (he's been round the circuit before) and I always liked him as a player nothing less than 100%, but does that transfer into his management style?
I suppose we'll just have to wait and see who puts their name in the hat and hope they actually get it right for a change.
O/T, why the fuck did Aird not get taken off /asked to come off earlier, noticed yesterday he got a knock or pulled something early doors, and every time he kicked the ball after you could see he was in pain, the highlights confirmed this, does our medical team no' see/monitor things like this?
It wont surprise me if we find he's out for a few weeks now.
I was going to mention this but the breaking news y'day diverted attention.
Aird was holding his hammy as early as 10 mins when he took a long free kick from our left. The ball hardly went aerial. Puzzling right enough. Anyway Neilson would have taken him off

Have the bookies suspended betting on the next permanent manager?

He got injured just before the free-kick during a 50/50 challenge. He was signalling to the bench that he was okay and this was before he crossed for the goal, so I don't think that it was that bad. Oddly, the injury only really seemed to start bothering him again once their 5th goal went in, and he was subsequently subbed.
Heard it was a dead leg. If so I hope he recovers much faster than Curran did fae his.
Back on topic as I was partly responsible for going off topic.
ROBBIE NEILSON.
But I have the fear his wife & family are in England....
But if she likes museums the V&A could be our salvation.

Neilson seems the obvious candidate. Let's hope he's not too expensive....
Perhaps we can give him a cut of future transfer fees?

The more i look at names online and having just read Jimmy Gomis article Neilson now stands out over any the other names for me.

Erik Pedenson just been on Arabs anon mentioning the old Rosenborg manager that was sacked before tic game....
We might have to push the boat out to get Neilson if his family are settled in England.
Indeed would he even take the job?
I wonder if he's holding out for a job down there, Ok he was sacked from MKDons but his stock will still be quite high.
And there are managerial vacancies down there all the time, all with better money than we can afford.

What makes folk think Robbie Neilson's family is located in England?

Read that he turned down Smirren cos they're expectations were unrealistic - doesn't want to risk two fails in a row i suspect, which might make him reluctant t risk us...

Maybe he will fancy making his stock higher with getting another Scottish club promoted to the top league and progress in that before having another go down south?

Mike Martin and his merry men know the position we are in and know we need to get out this league this season and i can see them turning to others to get more loans in order to give to a manager whether it be Neilson or whoever in january to get us up. i think getting us promoted is realistic that what stmirren would be wanting.

Ian McCall asked on Radio Scotland if he would be interested in the Dundee United job.
He replied 'no comment'.

Good if that's true. He only left MK Dons in January & I read in a Scotsman piece that his family were still settled down south. I've also read he may have turned down the St Mirren job cos of 'unrealistic expectations'. The fans, if not the board, at Tannadice will be expecting promotion (with the current playing staff) which can be viewed as unrealistic. I'm sorry but I can't see him coming.
