Re: August Deadline day thread

heard he isnt interested though - but that he is being forced out of St Mirren.  Dont go back to ex players again is my thinking.

Can you really class him as an ex-player though? He probably started about 5 games for us. It wouldn’t be the ex-player thing I’d have an issue with, I’d rather steer clear of him because I felt he was very limited positionally, and I wouldn’t like us being pigeonholed into playing with number 10’s again.

2 out is as much as I thought we might have bud. Desperately hoping for at least 1 or 2 more. Think we might bring in at least 1 after the window closes.

The whole window thing has turned into a poker style last minute game. Some players and agents will loose.
Hope we can make the best of it. Torture.

Re: August Deadline day thread

Swanson going to St.Johnstone after departing Easter Road.

Word is he pushed for a move to Utd but turned down.

Dissapointing.

Re: August Deadline day thread

Good enough for an premiership side but not a Division 1 side?

We’re crying out for an exciting player but no.

Re: August Deadline day thread

For a boy who had a heart bypass at age 13 amazed he is still going.  Ive heard same Tek but just gossip.  Id take him for the season no probs - low basic and pay per game maybe?

Re: August Deadline day thread

If your question is what I think it is, the answer is Lewis Toshney

Re: August Deadline day thread

Thought Keatings would be a player for us. So I am disappointed that he has been a complete waste of a years wage. But it would seem he has manufactured his exit from Tannadice so, he had to go.

Tam Scobbie should never have been signed. A wee bit of my soul died everytime we signed absolute cloggers like Scobbie, Toshney etc.

He gave of his best, don't get me wrong (so for that I wish him well in future) but he was and is nowhere the standard of player I wish to see at Dundee United F.C.

Went to our 3-2 defeat at Dumbarton in April past and was genuinely gobsmacked at the performances of Scobbie and Lewis and that Utd had that poor a calibre of first team player. A very sobering afternoon.

P.s wish the Algerian boy well and hope he can fit into the squad and do us a turn.

Re Scobbie, he wasn't helped by Csaba selecting him as a right back.

He has the right attitude Pat but is too slow in any position he'd be played in bud.

Re: August Deadline day thread

Glad to see we got rid of some of the deadwood. Shame we weren’t able to offload McMullan and Edje, but 2 out of 4 ain’t bad.

Hope we included a clause where Partick Thistle MUST play Scobbie against us.

It's a always better to have a can not play against parent club clause activated as far as I am concerned as it stops any controversy or worse comming Bach to to hurt the parent club on that day both clBS play each other.

I remember when Sturrock was at Plymouth he sent a player on loan to Blackpool I am sure it was but there was no clause stopping the player from playing against Plymouth when they met.

This was a terrible mistake as when the club's met Blackpool won comfortably and the player on loan from Plymouth scored twice against them,  sure Plymouth either barely avoided or where relegated that season.
