Heard from a Lichtie mate of mine, who’s connected to the board there, that we’re after Tam O’Brien from them. They’re looking for a fee though. He says the boy’s been outstanding for them and would easily step up to our level.

It's his birthday tomorrow. He will be 27.

Played under Csaba previously, indicating we aren't considering changing manager any time soon.

Half a chance he might know what he is on about then and maybe he can explain to the others, then again...

Never been so gutted by the announcement of a new signing in my life. The fact that they are allowing him to sign more players indicates he isn't going anywhere any time soon

I heard on Saturday that the other guy, Vastic, was rank rotten.

I don't know. Maybe all the arrangements were in place. It doesn't bother me as we need a big, no nonsense striker anyway. If the results don't improve drastically and I cannot see it then fan pressure will ensure he goes.

You've got to wonder who, in the management team, had the ability to recognise the player was 'rank rotten'.
They must have thought he was Emil Lyngking!

Dundee United are set to make their 13th signing of the summer by adding Slovakian striker Pavol Safranko to their ranks.
The 23-year-old has been playing in Denmark with AaB, but reports from there have him on his way to Tannadice.
The player’s representative, Emil Kavarovic, is quoted in the Slovakian media as saying: “In the case of Pavel, it is annual (contract), until summer 2019.
“All the parties are already agreed. On Tuesday it will be definitively (be) signing the contract.”

From Slovak Media ( )
IT WAS POSITIVELY VISIBLE
The clever finisher and great warrior Pavol Safranko started with football in his native village Brúsnica. He got the first registration in Stropkov, from where he moved to Prešov in sixteen years. With good performances, he became more prominent in Podbrezová, where he shot goals, as well as in the streets of Dunajská Streda. From Rohit Island he moved to Aalborg BK in August 2017, signed the contract for four years - until June 30, 2021.
In the positive light, Safranko also spoke at the aforementioned European Championships of 21-year-olds, where he played as a "joker" trainer Pavel Hapal in all three meetings in the base group . For the A-team of the Slovak Republic he has entered two unofficial meetings, in January 2017 against Uganda and League selection of Sweden.
The bit about 'joker' strikes a chord when I think of Csaba.

Is Safranko still going to be signing on loan or not, it just feels a bit odd that it is dragging on so long. If there is still issues or problems to be resolved why was the agent saying the deal was ready to be signed on Tuesday. It may just be me but sone thing does not feel right .

Probably waiting to see if Laszlo is still here on Monday first

I am getting that feeling myself now. I am also getting the feeling that failure to win at QoS will see Laszlo leave, could be totally wrong though.

Hmmmmmmmm. The lack of excitement probably isn't down to the player, who I think and hope can do well, it's more the realisation that the signing maybe indicates Csaba is going nowhere fast.

hopefully an improvement on Big Tam and surely to fuck can't be worse than Lyng.
our signing policy will come under a bit of scrutiny on Sunday at the Foundation AGM after tomorrow pending defeat and the following pressure on Lazlo

In the article Csaba says "one of our aims was to get a target man". Oh really and what priority did you give this given Pavol is now your 13th signing, is only a loan player, not on a 2 year contract like your other signings and has only joined after 5 competitive fixtures have been played. Also given the non attacking way you play, what is the point of having a target man or indeed any type of forward player at all. Are you now trying to suggest you are going to abandon the tactics you've employed from day 1 and play wingers and get them to cross the ball to a target man. I'd love to see it but you shown zero interest in attacking/entertaining play to date. Suspect this signing might simply be another tall player to have back when defending corners

I don’t post a lot because of you.
Most of the time you have already posted exactly what I am thinking so there is no point.
One of my favourite contributors on this board 👍🏻
