Being proposed for the old building across the road from Tannadice.
The proposed bidders (Mark Walker Architects) are planning to hire out the facility to both Dundee clubs.
I'm a bit confused by this article tbh, i thought this was solely a DUFC venture?
If it isn't surely this could potentially take hospo trade away from the club? Or is there a tie-in with Utd somehow? Why is the bid on the building in the Architects name and not DUFC's? Or is the article just poorly worded?
The way I read it, the Architect is acting on behalf of United.
The mezzanine level will be extra hospitality capacity for match days and will be offered to Dundee when they're at home. I thought the plan was to target away fans when Dundee were at home but this way is potentially more lucrative.

It’s reported that it’s the Architect that has submitted a planning application which is not unusual and that it’s the club that’s looking to develop the proposals.
May just solely benefit the club then?

Applicant is DUFC on the application so looks like it’s the club.
Be interesting to see how this works with the current facilities available and what level of hospo on offer to us punters.
its united but strange to think Dundee fans would use it???

Why would dfc fans want to put money into a dufc bar on matchdays

It's probably just a more tacful way of inviting dee oppositions fans to spend thier pre match cash down the road in oor sports bar.

I think Dundee FC would be offered the chance to hire the bar on their matchdays and then any profit they make is obviously their own (less costs for bar staff, chef/s, security).
Think that's how it'll work.
But, yes, they would essentially be handing over money to us and them making money themselves would then be subject to how many they can fill in the place on their matchday.
So maybe they would only take us up on that when the Old Firm or Aberdeen are in town. Or maybe they won't at all.
But sounds like they've possibly been sounded out already.

Let rangers in there and theyll wreck the place.

Wonder what the polis viewpoint would be on allowing a large group of opposition punters into a venue like this pre match to top up the buck fast ?

I hope they get the place well insured.

Predicted to be ready for about Jan/Feb 2019 (subject to planning permission being granted, of course).
Mike Martin saying in his interview today that it will be open to AWAY fans on Dundee F.C. matchdays.

It must be costing a few bob to do this place up. I wonder how much income they think theyre gonna get from this. Pub trade is not great ATM (canna think the pubs round about will be too pleased- not to mention Club 83).

Aggregate the take from various local hostelries and club 83 (none of whom, as you say will be affy pleased) and I'd think you'd make a few bob If the capacities big enough - bear in mind your only having to employ people once every couple of weeks for 8 hours or so....

open to registered away fans supporters clubs. They lease it for the day. So any damages and insurance are theirs to pay.
Smart move.

Can we expect the same high standard of service as the in stadium catering facilities who also employ people to turn out for a few hours a fortnight?
Got a feeling that this may not change most supporters match day experience,
Going to take a long time to recoup the investment on the premises as well so very unlikely to be a gold mine for the club.
Very risky gamble imo, wondering where the club is finding the money to invest in the facility?

Well thats right T'n'B. I mean say 250 supporters getting twa pints on a Setirday, over 37 gehms, is only 50 odd grand for the Season.

As long as the facilites are good and they price the drink in line or cheaper than other close to stadium pubs it should work.
Personally ken nae Arabs under 70 who drink 2 pints before and in the vacinity after.
Being so close to the ground is a massive advantage in attracting custome.
In the past some Arabs have even lined the pockets of Marrs pubs due to proximity!

Agreeing Billy.
And let’s say, (not looked at plans so no idea of likely outlay), £100k set up ??? ( very conservative number ) costs, 50p profit a pint after costs is 200,000 pints to break even point. Coming up a little short....
What about the repairs costs after Sevco and the greatest supporters in the world from the other arse cheek are in town visiting the Fun.
Is this in the same business plan that states Csaba Laslo will be a success.....same odds probably

I believe this is Jim Fyffes idea.
I get why he's looking at increasing revenue streams but imo the clubs gotta be careful they dont saturate the place with hospo.
Oh and they wouldnt be using his business to supply beer and spirits would they 🤔

I'm not from the Dundee area but are Dundee not looking to move ground or is that not happening now.

It's happening. The council want it to happen.
Anyway, good idea hope the fans use it. But where will the money be going? Will a % of it be going to the club? I shall use it when its open.
Could be useful for United-related meetings and events instead of having to open up the main ground across the road.
