Re: Dundee United V's Arbroath - Saturday 14th July (3pm)

Going tomorrow, no idea what the team should be or will be tbh.

Be interesting to see the new lads.

Looking for a big difference in performance and attitude from before, not sure how that’ll pan out.

Arbroath or not, LC or not, this game needs to get our season off to the right kinda start.  We can’t afford a slow start again.  Momentum needed on the park from the off this season.

Re: Dundee United V's Arbroath - Saturday 14th July (3pm)

Calling it the Betfred all the time is music for the sponsor's ears but maybe belittles the status of the competition.
It is still THE LEAGUE CUP which don't forget has provided us with 2/5ths of our first class honours.
Competitive game first, 'pre-season' game second.

Re: Dundee United V's Arbroath - Saturday 14th July (3pm)

Not making it the day but worth looking up to the Jerry kerr/directors box for potential new signings watching the game?

Also a good chance our new owners will be in the directors box?

If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all.

Bit dull but livened up by the new fitness coach (?) having the subs hopping...or possibly honing their morris dancing skills

Brutal tbh.

Early days and all that, but this squad will not win the league.

Re: Dundee United V's Arbroath - Saturday 14th July (3pm)

Honking. Why do we play so so so so so slow, absolutely no urgency!

Few positives today though, glass was excellent, Frans looks the part, aird will cause problems, wardrop was decent will be better with a better winger in front of him

Few negatives, still no one up from opposing corners why not just leave glass up?? Can’t understand why booth never played? McMullan and Clark offside far to many times just look along line fs, the passing about the back get that to fuck until wee have fyvie back unless this Barton biy can do a better job

What did yous think of the Austrian boy?

Re: Dundee United V's Arbroath - Saturday 14th July (3pm)

This is how far away from a championship contending side just now:

A center half.
Arguably, a left back.
2 decent central midfielders. 1 when fyvie is fit.
A winger. Mcmullan... cant believe we didnt address that.
A center forward.
Probably... a manager (although still open to giving him a chance)

Throw in a couple injuries and we are fucked man.

Positves: could not give a fuck about this competition. It's been turned into a joke and we are never going to win it. I only care about going up. We have to go up.  So if this is a wake up call, and it should be, better to have it now than in our first league game.

Decision makers at the club have got to get busy as fuck.

Re: Dundee United V's Arbroath - Saturday 14th July (3pm)

Glass was a positive but honestly having wanted to start the new season without slagging of ##### 😢

It was obvious last season (first half) that Mcmullan was fuck all use out wide - and having had half a season to suss this out where does he play him....

He'll be gone by the end of August but probably too late for us.

Really didn't want to go here but we are fucked all ends up if he isn't gone....well
...now

Horrendous....this is really depressing 😔

Re: Dundee United V's Arbroath - Saturday 14th July (3pm)

I'm shocked at the result and the performance if I'm honest, so I found that shocking today. I mean phuckin Arbroath FFS. They made us look like kippers. We should have been winning that by a couple of goals. Seriously, is there something wrong with me thinking that?.

Pace of the game was too slow. Wonder if that's a fitness issue? It's true neither keeper was really that put out, and our defence hardly touched the ball, except when playing along the back.

Robson / Stanton and Aird were all culprits in 1 of the todays faux-pas. They had about 4 or 5 chances to clear the ball from the left corner, but in the end Robson plays to the keeper with an Arbroath player running on goal who clashes with the keeper, who goes down leaving an open goal. FFS.

Pens. 1st looked soft. Just before the 2nd, 1 of the Arbroath players elbows somedy in the pus, but Madden gives them penalty. Smokees helped by the Bandit. Go home ye hun.

Folk asking why we never had a man out when corners and free-kicks by the opposition. Well I can give some insight if you'll permit me. Around the 30 min mark, Madden pulled play back to give Aberbrothock a free-kick about 40 yards out. McMullan was standing near the centre spot ( where somedy should be). Slabber standing baaling and shouting at him to go back, and stand 10 yards in front of the ball to form a 1 man wall, while the other 9 outfield players are in the box, so there's the answer.

Positives. Some great moves down the right with Wardrop and McMullan. We had them hemmed in deep for 5 mins early in the 2nd half. Much more of that please. Clark didna get enough of the ball, and was isolated for a lot of the game, but what a great finish from the ball from Airds cross.

MOTM Glass looked class.

After watching that shite today, I've just listened to Dion and have got the dubious pleasure of having to listen to Joni Mitchell and Tom Waits before I hit the hay

That one is arguable.  He 8s a liability at times. Not made as much progress as you'd expect. Need better.
