I canna make this either Tek. In Edinburgh the moarn for the dachters graduation.

One good thing is that I'm also gonna miss another repeat of commentators fae South of the border buttering up their team. Oh the pain, the pain of it all.

Re: Brechin v Utd (Friendly) Tuesday 3rd July (7.45pm)

Summary of players:

Both goalies look ok, benji very very vocal likes to come for crosses completely missed one in first half but I’ll blame that on sun

Wardrop: think he could be a good signing, likes to go forward, very much in the mould of ralston
Frans will be excellent and probably captain also
Booth FINALLY a attacking full back

Austrian boy jesus wept wish we kept flood
Aird very good goal, excellent delivery will be a really good signing

Clark really good link up play, wins a fair ammount for a wee boy, will score goals 100%
Curran bit like Murray runs and seems hard as nails, fights for everything

Few others notes, deco glass and Logan Chalmers will play more both excellent when came on esp Chalmers hit the post with a absolute screamer, also keatings will be in the first choice striker positions! Also don’t leave anyone up at corners still, mind boggling tbh, allardice was also excellent ball playing centre half frans helped him through game

Re: Brechin v Utd (Friendly) Tuesday 3rd July (7.45pm)

Glad to hear Allardice is playing CH, he’s good there, better than what played there last season anyway.  Never understood the whole playing him CM thing with him, he’s never a CM.

Glad too to see Allardice as a CH. ok getting a game or 2 in mid but needs a chance in his proper role

Bring back the (real) "United Way" not the kiddy-on Martin version

Re: Brechin v Utd (Friendly) Tuesday 3rd July (7.45pm)

Agree with most of what Mario said, fullbacks are an upgrade on what we had last season, both looked to get forward and support the attackers. Aird too has a lot more about him than Billy King. Think Clark looked decent too, both him and Curran will be an asset, though are perhaps too similar to play together regularly, can’t stress enough how much we must get a targetman in. Wasn’t impressed with Rabitsch at all though, far too lightweight. If we go into the season with him and Stanton, we’ll get bullied in the middle of the park. The first keeper too, wow.

All in all, some encouraging signs from tonight, Logan Chalmers looked to have a bit of skill about him. We’re still far too wee as a team and will need a good 4-5 signings to be serious title contenders though. Namely a couple of centre halves and a central midfielder and striker with a bit of presence about them.

So basically we still need the spine of the team brought in?
The players any half decent manager would have brought in first to build the team around.

Great.

Re: Brechin v Utd (Friendly) Tuesday 3rd July (7.45pm)

I thought Christoph Rabitsch was ok - competitive - busy. Wardrop, Booth, Frans and Allardice played well. And after being sceptical about Curran - he's a real battler - just what we need !

I’d agree with this. Chalmers & Keatings also looking good.

Aird is going to see a lot of the ball in our attacking play.

Pre season games are all about helping match fitness, some players take longer therefore dont look so good.
I thought allardyce played the ball playing centre back well, and was surprised by the skill and physique of
logan chalmers.Btw the steak pies were superb.

Logan chalmers, should get a run out in a competive game in bet fred, his left foot is some players can only dream of having! Really don’t think the pitch helped us last night, grass was far to long and hadn’t been watered so really slowed us down with moving the ball about, Brechin number is still a wee sasij also

Agree with this mostly.

Thought both goalies looked good, bar a fluff by Siegrist which was probably due to an unbelievably low sun.

I wasn't impressed with Rabistch but in saying that I thought he pulled out of a few challenges he otherwise would have made in a competitive fixture. Here's hoping that's the case or it's a cause for concern.

Chalmers looked good but he came on as Brechin were beginning to tire. Don't know if he'd be as effective from the start.

CB is still a huge need atm.

Re: Brechin v Utd (Friendly) Tuesday 3rd July (7.45pm)

Plenty of plus points last night IMO - the 4-4-2 was refreshing and the burgers were braw!

Was stood up near the stand behind the goal and second half it was clear how much talking the keeper did which was a plus point for me. First-half howler near cost us from a corner and claimed the others that he came for.

Fullbacks were good as mentioned before, both keen to get on!

Frans was fine over the 90 mins and expect him to be captain this season, Scott in next to him did well but I'm not sure that's the pairing we need.

Aird very good but one of those annoying left-wingers who have to cut in on right peg but he's a player and most definitely an upgrade on King!

Stanton strolled the game for me and the Rabbit will need games but I didn't think he was as poor as some have said and it's only the first game. As a duo in central midfield... no for me. When is Fyvie fit!?!?

The hairdresser is nippy about the box and the boy Curran is a b@$t@rd... and i loved that about him! A right nasty piece of work with arms up in defenders faces, backs into them and generally just tries to be a nuisance!

Good to see youth coming on in Ritchie, Chalmers, and Glass. Interesting that Scobbie was the only player no to see any game time, Edge got about 10 mins.

Anyone know when next friendly is???

Cheers for the summary, although I think the keeper got subbed at halftime did he not?

Re: Brechin v Utd (Friendly) Tuesday 3rd July (7.45pm)

Our left hand side with Aird & Booth was terrific. Caused problems and linked up well. Can see that blossoming.
Curran was MOTM for me. Busy, puts his head & chest in where it hurts. Holds up and links well. He will be a big player for us.
Allardyce was very impressive at centre half, calm on the ball and never misplaced a pass. Would like to see more of him there.
