They seem to have the youth thing working, amazing how it can be done if you get it right.

was up at the gem yesterday with the young lad, first half we played OK, we went 2-0 up County were always a threat particularly up against oor right back (no sure who he was), Donaldson & Toshney at CB the latter getting injured. For me Brett Long the keeper was the only one that impressed me seems to talk his defence through the gem well. none of the 'first teamers' made a claim fir the weekend IMO, Coote flatters do deceive fir me couple nice touches on the half way line very little interms of changing the gem.

Toshney injured again lol.
He must be up there as one of our worst ever signings/players.
Zero natural ability (that i can see),constantly injured with a variety of injuries and a bombscare when he does play both in terms of poor defending and picking up red cards.
He has another 2 years left of his deal too 😞🔫
p.s. heard good reports about Brett Long also.Maybe a better option than Zwick?

The Devs drew 1 each with St.Johnstone today in their final 'home' match of the season.
Jordan Garden notched an equaliser.
Final game is on Monday away to Partick.

Would you be brave enough to tell Psycho he was getting punted?
Nah, me neither.

I'd really like to see a reserve league brought back in so young lads can start playing against seasoned pros earlier. Probably never going to happen now though.

Results have not been great , however it normally comes down to who has the most experienced team. The majority of games have seen UTD play very young teams. Last nights goalscorer Logan Chalmers is still 16. Its all about development of maybe 2 or 3 players a season through to the 1st team. Watching the development team this season only 2 or 3 have any realistic chance of making 1st team players. The shirt fillers are quite poor this year but a couple of excellent prospects to look out for.

We played 6 first teamers last week.
Ross County had NO overage players.
Our team is no younger than most.
Again i ask the question. How long does Bowman get before he starts getting some proper type of constructive analysis of performances and progress or lack thereof?
Seems to have a job where he is largely free of any type of judgement.Wish i had one of them.

If i owned the club i wouldn't need to.Because he would never have gotten the job in the first place.

Bowman was listed in saturdays programme as Development squad assisstant manager.
Who he assissting? I thought it was and had been his for some time?

Dev league not really about winning trophies - although it never hurts
Are the players developing better than those around us, I don't know. Guess it would take somebody to check how many players have come through the teams around us...
I'd how many Ross county academy players have played say 10 games this season... Not a job for me though

It is worth noting that the results were no better under Campbell in the last few years.
People keep mourning the reserve league but if it did change back to that we would still be playing exactly the same team because Utd (and most other clubs) can't afford to keep a first team squad of 25-30 experienced pros half of whom who would then play in the reserves. Having a squad with around 20 experienced players and around 16 u20s is all clubs can afford these days. The development league does allow teams to play something like 5 overage players so its not as if its just all kids playing week in week out. Lets face it, whenever Donaldson et al play for the 20s they get shat on from a bunch of 17-18 year olds anyway. All a reserve league would do would encourage Celtic and SEVCO to buy even bigger squads of experienced players and hump us even more in reserve games.
Do agree that the piss poor performance of the u20s needs to be questioned though. All we seem to produce these days is a conveyor belt of walf-like laddies who are mentally weak and with an acceptance of defeat.

I would agree that the majority of the development squad have little or no chance of making it. However as i said 2 Or 3 have a good chance that is the main purpose of the development squad.

Lot of sense in that post LAO.
Regarding your last point, seems to me ever since it was deemed that kids football (and most sports) shouldn't be so competitive, the necessary competitive edge has disappeared from kids. Not just at DUFC, not even just at football, but generally in life, maybe just coincidence.

I've made the point on here before about performance management. There's none for managers so they keep doing what they are doing until they get the sack - what a system, no wonder we fail. In every walk of working life managers of all levels are subject to regular scrutiny and employees are routinely subject to appraisals. When we start doing PM, we will start improving and saving money (latter part should appeal to our chairman)
