I'd agree that the player himself is likely to have a big say in this still.  If we have approached the club with several offers but don't know whether the player is up for it then we'd be more naive than even I think we are already.

 
The Falkirk fans are lapping it up but in my opinion what he said revealed a total lack of class. It's no secret he hates Dundee United but all he had to say was the bids are far away from our valuation. He's been getting more and more smug these last few months and now I really hope we take the lad Spencer off them.

Between the two of them, you’d have to think we’d be getting the best part of £3m. Surely to fuck Ogren can hand over £6-700k of that for a late flurry of signings? “The player trading model” has to work both ways. The best way of getting big fees for your players is by having a successful team on the park.

 
Precisely. The player trading model has worked. Credit goes to Ross Goodwin. Ogren (probably undeservingly) gets to reduce his debt by £2m. He NEEDS to make anything more than that available for transfers. Anything less will run fans against him.

Mad that someone is talked about as a club stalwart after just two seasons. Shows you how crazy the turnover of players in football is now.

Limited credit to Ross Goodwin. Sevelj was signed long before he joined and Ferry signed a few days after he joined.

If anyone thinks J.Goodwin will get £600k for signings unfortunately they are living in cloud cuckoo land. Incomings will go to servicing the debt to the owner,with a little bit of headroom available for extra wages for new signings.

This is why it's worth getting players on proper deals, a solid player and we'll recoup a fee, and whilst we might not see any/much of it, it''s another chunk of 'debt' repaid to the owner, and a step closer to what many appear want in terms of ownership.

Worth noting that the Belgian transfer deadline is tomorrow

English deadline is Tuesday

Which means if Ferry isn’t away to Anderlecht or English championship by Tuesday night then the road is clear for Celtic to come in with a pathetic offer before Scottish deadline of Thursday at 5pm.

All the more reason we as fans should be hounding him out of the club. I don’t care even a tiny bit about the money he has put it in. He made terrible decisions as an owner and lost money because of them.  He has also likely written off far more than the debts he thinks we owe him on tax benefits from his own personal incomings.

 


People frequently think Ogren is making money from his other businesses and can just “write off” his losses against money he is making elsewhere. The reality is you have to make profits to write losses off against.

Ogren sold off pretty much all the family business (Gas distribution, forecourt franchises and holding in sports franchises), to “have fun”.

That leaves OPG-3 Inc a private company which develops software to systemise filing in big organisations. Estimated turnover $5.8m, fewer than 20 employees. Even if we assume it makes a GP of 20% that is only $1.1m. If you factor in software investment it may not be making a profit at all.

Cedar Road Perth Ltd (property company) was dissolved in April this year without making any
investments.

OPG-4 Ltd was largely a holding company

So he is left with (£7.5) soft loan, add to that professional services fees, he could easily be down £9million from his “fun” Scottish venture. What else is he going to write the losses off against?
