Dundee Utd Vs Arbroath - Saturday 18th July (7PM)

Starting XI and formation for what is quite simply a must win game?

In the championship year the results against Arbroath were 4-0. 6-0. 3-0. & 4-0. I’m not sensing a similar outcome today. Not in UTDs favour anyway.

We are getting relegated this season 100% this team is fucking garbage

Re: Dundee Utd Vs Arbroath - Saturday 18th July (7PM)

We could honestly play all weekend and not score a fucking goal. Why do our player always look like they've never seen a football before? Embarrassing!

About fucking time!, now start playing the ball quicker more often.

We are a difficult team to watch, our passing accuracy must be about 20% in that half. Off to walk the dog and calm down 🤣

I actually thought we looked decent in spells tonight. Though the drop off when Ferry went off was very noticeable. Regardless of whether he goes or not, we cannot go in to this season with Naamo as his backup.

Sapsford, Randall and Metsoko looked good once they got used to each other and looked up well. Eskesen looked alright when he came on and Agyei was absolutely abysmal tbh.

A mixed bag. Could probably type for half an hour about it but 3-0, job done. We will get better.

Metsoko overtakes Jort in the all time DUFC scoring charts 😁

We were at the point I posted that tbf. Our passing and concentration is shocking and if you dont think a better team would have punished us then thats up to yourself but we have an awful lot of improving to do in my opinion.

Eskesen is piss weak and stood still far too often for my liking instead of trying to win the ball back. I dont think he's built to handle Scottish football and needs to toughen up a lot to make it here. Agyei wasn't great and seemed to still be in bounce game mode. Front players were better at least, but we are in serious trouble once Ferry goes .

Long way to go before the window closes. Hopefully we are tracking a quality replacement for Will.

Im not saying he's the answer but Eskeson has been better than Camara and Agyei AND Svelje so fair play to him, and what he does bring is the willingness to play a forward pass, a willingness to play a team mate in.

Yeah fair enough, but I do think the weaker side of his game will be exposed against better sides.  I'd like that left back in next week but the longer the Ferry saga rolls on the worse it will be for us. The last thing we want is him going on deadline day and we end up with a poundshop panic replacement.

Pitch looked good.
Looked quite decent on a whole.
Camara has, however, lost a step. Was always erratic but it’s that bit more erratic.
Ronny needs to sort the goal songs.
Eskesen is fine, but I’d loan him out where he’ll be battered about in the lower leagues.
Ferry is the glue for us.

Need goals and not lacklustre nonsense v Spartans to hope to finish top and avoid a seeded team (Celtic likely, cause of course)

Goals might not be enough after the Montrose shitshow but if it does come down to 9 points winning the group then we do absolutely have to batter the Spartans this time.

Re: Dundee Utd Vs Arbroath - Saturday 18th July (7PM)

It was a decent performance over all. It was at least a 3-0 it could have been more. It looked to me that the ref had two abysmal decisions that stopped first Sapsford, then Rose going through with just the keeper to beat. Enough for me to stay behind and boo the clown off.

Nothing like a bit of in-game posting ADS. Think we looked fine first half, a wee bit disjointed, but Arbroath are a decent team and had a good go at us first 30 mins. Once we got the goal we settled down and 2nd half was positive.

Seen a few comments on Eskesen and Esselink tonight, whilst I wouldnt be surprised to see either leave, I think they are both really decent footballers that have something to offer in the right team/system. If it was up to me I wouldn't be letting them go anywhere.

Yeah i know, but I was just pig sick of watching the same pedestrian shite and unable to break down lower league opposition, disjointed piss poor passing and general shiteyness. I still maintain a good team would have destroyed us tonight and we are going to struggle massively once Ferry ultimately leaves.

Perhaps so, but considering our support, me included, spend 90% of our time moaning about Goodwin's teams being all effort but low on quality, the question is do you think he's good enough to afford almost looking past his poor physical and defensive side to exploit the bits of the game he is good at.

There's no doubt in my mind, even on his bit part appearances last season, that there's something about him. He makes late runs in to the box, can see some passes others don't and seems to look threatening when played through the middle.

I've saw enough of vicko, Agyei and Camara, to know that they get about a lot but can't pick a forward pass. Play at least one of these three alongside Tait and Eskesen and let's see what happens.

Lucky for UTD then that there are very few if any good sides in Scottish football
