Not rated by me. And doesn't fit our develop/sell plan so hopefully nothing in it.

Not overly impressed by him and he's hardly the 6ft wingers we are after.
While I'm at it his brother can fuck off as well.

There was also chat about interest in Graham earlier in the window... Both him and Iovu were benched on Saturday when you'd have expected at least 1 of them to be in from the start.
IF those moves come to fruition then we best have a pretty solid plan for replacing them. Even with our current centre back options, I'd still have expected us to recruit one more so we are running with 5 (Iovu, Graham, Forbes, Esselink and another) to make it through the season.

Be happy with that. Always caused us problems at Livi and Ayr. No doubt gone backwards at hearts because he hasn’t been played. He would absolutely improve us and is a known quantity in the Scottish leagues. Take that any day over another foreign sick note gamble.

Decent squad player anyway on a free.

Not overly fussed on signing Forrest either but how does Merghem fit a development plan?

Signed based more on ability than sell-on value. You still need experience, it’s folly to fill a team full of 23 year olds and expect consistency from them.

100% agree. You need a mixture of different types of ages and personalities to have a functional group. People just like to question everything as if there are rules to what types of players we sign. You can have a headline goal which is sign players for cheap and sell them for decent money, but you still need to have a decent mixtures of experience within the squad. Signing a 29 year old winger is absolutely fine by me.

Who says he wants to sell JD? He's been pressed on that more than once and always insisted he's here for the long haul and it would seem he's not lying given that's now the 8th year he's been our owner.
If we sell Ferry and Iovu then he's getting closer to break even point.
Anything after that is profit for him, which is what his primary goal was from one day.
I just don't see him walking away. If Povlsen, Benham, Bloom and the Digital Fish boys couldn't convince him to sell up his majority shareholding then i don't see how anyone else will.
I wouldn't mind if the player sales made us more aggressive and ambitious in our own recruitment and we started being able to pay good fees for players again, but we all know that won't be the case.

Agreed so saying Forrest doesn't fit a development then sell plan is redundant as he's only a year older than Merghem. Neither of them will sell for £££?

Not every signing has to be with the sole view of selling them on. And still think we need an experienced CH

Bid in for Ross Graham also 🤔

Absolutely agree - we've been down this road with Zwick etc. No one is paying "Will Ferry money" for 28/29/30 year old's. What Forrest would bring is over 200 games experience in the SPFL Premiership, guiding and helping boys like Leiper, Anderson etc. To say he doesn't fit the Development > Sell plan means nothing as I'm sure the recruitment team would not be signing him with that in mind

From what I’ve heard, he actively was seeking investment or a buyout maybe like two years ago, had interested parties, but then asked for stupid money to sell them, at which point they backed away. Bloom was very keen way before the Hearts thing came up, as was Benham, but what Ogren asked for was just stupidly unrealistic.
The Digital Goldfish/Ninja Kiwi boys don’t have any interest in buying United, never really have, likely never will. They only got involved to basically save us from extinction under Thompson and lost a shit ton of money to facilitate Ogren buying the club from Mike Martin, they’ve done their bit. One’s involved with Brechin, the other just wants to follow United as normal fan. They don’t have any involvement with United now other than as supporters.

I get folk might not want Alan Forrest, but some folk when picking their XI have Ross Graham starting.
There's a famous saying I just made up.... "We all watch the same 90 minutes, but rarely see the same game!"

My opinion on Forrest was more based on what my Jambo mole told me than the age profile tbh.

I personally think we're a few years too late signing Forrest, if indeed its actually happening of course.
