Exactly where I’m at.

Big Iouvo is a funny one for me- looks a right good player one game then the next it looks like he’s put his boots on the wrong feet.

If it’s a decent offer, he’ll be gone.

Agree with all of that Morphy.

Just turned 24 and as you say big, strong, athletic. Ticks a lot of boxes for me.

I'm not sure why our fans are so quick to see the back of some of our better players.

The money just goes to Mark Often to plug a hole in the debt levels. Once we've paid off the loan to him the money will go to him as profit. He's been very clear about this from day one, that he wants to make money from DUFC.

Ogren is never making a profit out of us.  However if he does get repaid his debt and can walk away with the experience it means that something has gone right on the pitch and we'll all be happy enough.

Why would he finally strip away the debt owed to him and then walk away?

He has always been in this for the long-term, with the end result of making money on United.

It's why the club are now being so aggressive about this 'player trading model'. He's gotten impatient about making money on his purchase.

Re: Summer Transfer Window 26/27

It's very weird, we unearth a talent, or sign someone who looks the real deal, cue our fans "He'll make us some money!"

Us? cool.

I'll take it as a percentage of my season ticket please. I'm not greedy the club can have 50%.

Nice wee £125+ off of next years prices.

Re: Summer Transfer Window 26/27

Walking away now will mean losing money until/unless he can find someone who will repay the debt to him.  Nobody is currently willing to pay that price to own United.

If he keeps chipping away at the debt,  (the only way there is to make more money on player sales than player purchases/wages (unless he sells out the stadium week in week out or puts the prices up)), then he may get to the point that the club becomes a viable option for a buyer and he'll get to recoup what he's invested.

He needs to get to that point and beyond to make any profit out of United.  He's a dimwit but even he will see the gamble of expecting future profit out of us won't be worth the risk if he can get an out that means he's lost nothing.  Even then he'd have been better sticking his millions in the bank...

Re: Summer Transfer Window 26/27

Not sure so much of it is about debt/profit when it comes to Ogren, but general running of a football club. You need to be making money from player sales in Scotland as TV money and any kind of outside investment is completely dead. You've got Motherwell making a decent wedge from players in the last year or two, with more expected on the back of last season. Even Dundee have managed to break their record fee this summer. Hibs, Hearts, Aberdeen, they have all done the same in recent years.

Looking at our current squad, there isn't a player you could point at and say they are worth crazy money (£3m+) but we do have a few (Iovu, Ferry, Agyei, Sapsford) who you'd think would command close to 7 figures or more. It's not ideal and I'd much rather have a settled squad over a few years, but it doesn't appear to be the way in Scottish football at the moment.

We're on track for another summer with 10+ additions and 10+ departures, that must be 4 in a row now? It might not seem sustainable, and the only way it is sustainable is if we pick up decent fees for players now and again. I'm not sure there is another option for a club in our position at the moment.

Re: Summer Transfer Window 26/27

I've been keeping a wee track of this over the last few years. I reckon this is what Ogren has taken in during his time at Utd:

Harry Souttar add on

Kerr Smith fee

Shankland fee & add on?

Jamie Robson fee

Appere fee

Fuchs fee

Niskannen fee

Insurance payout Covid?

Scottish Government loan Covid

UEFA youth money

Conference League money

Various coefficient money (£650,000 in early 2024 for example)

Behich add on

Tam Courts compensation?

Prize money for winning Championship

Prize money for finishing 9th

Prize money for finishing 4th

Prize money for reaching Scottish Cup semi

Record season ticket sales each year near enough

Big merchandise sales each season

Money for Shankland going to Euros

Money for Behich going to World Cup

Scott Banks fee

Robbie Neilson to Hearts compo

Compo for Goldie going to Swansea?

Compo for Adam Asghar going to Sunderland?

Carling Stand sponsorship

Money from last season

Parachute payment for going down

Prize money for winning the Championship again

Stadium naming rights money for Tannadice

Healthy gate money again this season

Brandon Forbes fee

Alan Domeracki fee

Kevin Holt fee

Kai Fotheringham fee

More UEFA coefficient money coming this season (£1 million?)

Prize money for finishing 4th.

Moeller fee 700k+?

Prize money for 25-26 season

Hutchison development fee

Various other shirt and stand sponsorships eg Calfron

If, as seems likely we can add in fee's for Ferry of over £1 million and Iuvo of just under £1 million he's got a bit of a cheek pleading poverty and saying he's £13 million down a hole. Makes you wonder how much they were shelling out on players and Asghar to be down that much. I'd be surprised if its even half of £13 million he's due back today.

Re: Summer Transfer Window 26/27

I think there's a tendency for some people to forget we have always had to sell our top talent. From the days under our best ever Board of Directors, Andy Gray, Ray Stewart, right through to Andy Robertson. Sometimes parts of those fees have gone back into the infrastructure, sometimes the fees have gone to owners who are trying to reduce losses.

It's just the way it is and continues to be at present.

Re: Summer Transfer Window 26/27

The only real over and above funds coming in would be from unscheduled tv games, cup ties, player sales, finishing higher than predicted, the money made from European qualification would be roughly known and be factored into the following years budget.

Money made on academy graduates would be written off against the time spent bringing them through/swallowed up by the academy.

Any money he's in the hole for is on him, his decisions, he put the people in place that sold him a pup.

I've no issue with him getting some back, he's speculated to accumulate, he's been open about that, but a fair chunk is down to naivety/negligence so he has to take the hit on that, he's can't expect to claw it all back.

Lets assume for a second he is 13m down, then he had 13m to lose in the first place.

The old saying is "How you become a millionaire in football is to start a billionaire"

Brilliant if we can pull that off. Was rubbish most of the season. For me probably the worst of the 3 that regularly played. Anything close to a million would be great business and would start to validate the current model of buying loads of unknown foreigners and hoping to develop some of them for a profit.

Lol, he was the best of the 3 by a country mile if you discount the first 6 weeks of the season. What games were you watching?

As much as I don’t care about Ogren clawing the money he stupidly lumped in in the first place, the sooner it’s paid back, the sooner he’ll accept a reasonable offer to sell up.

I’ve heard the figure he’s asked of interested parties over the last few years, and it’s no wonder boys like Tony Bloom, Matthew Benham and the Danish boy laughed him out the room.

Therefore I won’t add to the speculation and supposition .

If I remember right, we were in for him back when he left Ayr United. Would be a decent enough squad player, as he was at Hearts. Can play off both sides, always reminded me of a Peter Pawlett type of player. Not sure he takes us to the next level in any sense, but until we see Randall and Merghem in action we can't be sure.
