Re: Stirling Albion Vs Dundee United - Saturday 11th July (5.30PM)

It’s crazy the amount of United fans referring to this as the “diddy” cup.  We’ve won 5 trophies in our whole history and 2 of them were this one… it’s one of the two things we actually have a chance of winning.  I think the re-introduction of the group stages have contributed to folk having this opinion.

I assume you mean elsewhere because I've not seen anyone say that on here.

Me neither. It's still a major trophy. I feel fairly sure we will try to win it. This year 🤣

The alba cup is a diddy cup. This is a major trophy.

Re: Stirling Albion Vs Dundee United - Saturday 11th July (5.30PM)

A cup wins a cup win but this is way behind the scottish

Devalued by removing euro qualification
Devalued by making it pre season
Devalued by teams being nowhere near finished articles
Devalued by making it so early in the season. Teams arent ready, fans are on holiday.

And as a side note, ruined the more exciting bits of pre season at home and on tour.

I'm not usually one to be overly critical but its piss. Only means something from semis onwards.

If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all.

Re: Stirling Albion Vs Dundee United - Saturday 11th July (5.30PM)

It’s disappointing due to the really low home attendance numbers at Tannadice.

Re: Stirling Albion Vs Dundee United - Saturday 11th July (5.30PM)

So it starts with group stages that dont attract great crowds,so what?

Its the league cup, the very first trophy we won. It might not matter to some but its one of the three major trophies in Scotland. I personally couldn't give a fuck whether or not it brings European football.  Its a major trophy, of which we have only won 5 in our entire history.  Devalued my arse!

Re: Stirling Albion Vs Dundee United - Saturday 11th July (5.30PM)

Tbf middle of July a lot of people are away on their holidays and United have a tendency to treat the games like friendlies, which is understandable.

I think the lower league teams tend to get more out of the group stage games where as its more like an inconvenience to the Premiership sides.

Is Farrugia not injured? Thought someone mentioned it the other day?

He’s been injured since early pre-season. Hasn’t played any friendlies.

Re: Stirling Albion Vs Dundee United - Saturday 11th July (5.30PM)

Even though we've been playing a back 4 in the pre-season games, I predict that until we get some more wingers in, we'll be going with a 352. My prediction for today's team:

Walton

Iovu
Graham
Forbes

Rawlins
Tait
Sevelj
Agyei
Naamo

Rose
Sapsford

I think it will be that team also.

Re: Stirling Albion Vs Dundee United - Saturday 11th July (5.30PM)

Disappointing so far, need to improve the quality in the final third. Nothing on the bench at all to change the game so these players need to find an extra gear. Why do we never do anything the easy way?

Re: Stirling Albion Vs Dundee United - Saturday 11th July (5.30PM)

HT 0-0

Might sound a bit cheeky but that pitch is shocking.

Ref failed to book Banner for a stonewall yellow.

Mostly pressure from us but we've looked a bit powder puff at times.
Started to wake up a bit as half time approached. Need to move the ball a bit quicker in the second half.

66 gone Aghyei having a mare. Camara wasn't much better and he's already off.

Well that was close! We really need to improve though. I'll take the win and move on, good to see the young lads showing up well.

The kits a belter btw
