Re: World Cup 2026

It was an almost German performance. Proof that teams do reflect their manager.

It just shows you, the actual German team have completely lost their footballing identity whilst England of all teams gave an old-school German display.

Too much commotion

Re: World Cup 2026

Karma arrives as USA humbled by Belgium.
Justice is done on the playing field.

But this was a very bad look for the US, and a very bad look for FIFA

Generally embarrassing but he was quite funny tonight, did you catch the story about the Colombian player he was coaching at Everton?

Re: World Cup 2026

Argentina v Egypt, what a fantastic game. Egypt stun the champions to go 2-0 up then the Argentina boys say hold my beer. Top quality football and one of the great World Cup matches.

Followed by one of the worst, a horrible 0-0 draw between Columbia and Switzerland. Duncan Ferguson predicted the penalties could also end 0-0.
As Alan Hansen would say, shocking.

So were Scotland tbf, we had that same shitey ref that did the France v Paraguay game. There have been ridiculous decisions throughout the tournament that honestly defy belief. I'll never slag off Scottish refs again!

Well not until at least this Saturday 🤣🤣

Re: World Cup 2026

We've seen refs refuse to given pens in this world cup where players have exaggerated contact/impact and went flying, McGinn, Mbappe, Kane being 3 examples and I'm ok with that as long as it's applied consistently.

Scotland also got the benefit of the sort of handball penalty v Haiti that refs/VAR all scream to give in our league, the  rule really has been applied more sensibly I think. The goal chopped off v us for Brazil was ridiculous, it wasn't even a foul, Kenny McLean was also very lucky not to be sent off as well.

On the Egypt shafted thing, Egypt break and score, they can't break and score if they don't win the ball by grabbing the shirt and standing on the boy's foot, that's moment the move starts, it is a foul, it's fair enough for me, we can't sit and say McGinn's should be a pen, but say that wasn't a foul.

The Mac Allister incident, it looks like they got away with one, but the boy was nowhere near getting the ball, I wonder if that played a part in the decision? I was making the tea, so didn't see if they showed other angles.

I don't like that VAR gets involved the way it has been, Hendry never claimed he was fouled, no-one saw the Egypt foul until the replay, they're re-reffing the game on a microscopic level and it's shite.

That said, the various associations/managers/coaches across the world brought this on themselves by doing exactly what VAR does, watching slowed down footage, complaining about fag paper offsides, they wanted VAR and voted it in.

It's on these cunts that refused to accept they and their team's shortcomings and blamed it on officials who can't possibly make decisions at the level of accuracy they moaned about, so fuck any official moaning about VAR, except those from Morton.

Not once, were fans polled, the one's that football should be all about. It's all about making it a robotic like experience and catering for the at home audience, fucking wankers.

"Don't F*cking ever offer me that again!"

Re: World Cup 2026

McGinn penalty wasn't given because the ball was apparently going out of play, the refs own words, bullshit! Penalty all day long.
Mbappe penalty wasn't given because apparently he initiated contact,he was running with the fucking ball ffs, bullshit! Penalty all day long.
Kane dived before any contact was made. It did look a penalty from side on but view it from behind as the ref did and its as clear a dive as you'll ever see. Add to that, and if consistency was applied, the ball was almost out for a goalkick by the time contact was made. Correct decision,no penalty.

Re: World Cup 2026

I used to get annoyed at the stuff (discussed above) but took a decision to kinda ignore the cheating/allegations of cheating/favouritism towards Mbappe Ronaldo Messi/hydration breaks/goal montages speeded up/English exceptionalism from some pundits/fucking Lee Dixon/mentions of 1966/interviews with people who once cleaned Gordon Bank's house/sold a car to Geoff Hurst.....

Because I decided these things could wind me up and stop ne enjoying the few good games on offer at this shitey World Cup.

Saturday and Stirling Albion cannot come quickly enough.

Re: World Cup 2026

France edge out Morocco to reach the Semis. They didn't need to do much because Morocco were stinking.  Where was the high tempo first half they produced against Brazil? Where was the chance creation and danger they usually present? Time and time again they got towards the France 18yard box but failed to take a shot. Very disappointing but at least France have more chance of defeating the cocky English should they meet.

On that note, the English manager said FIFA were wrong to overturn the USA red card  but he wants FIFA to overturn the English red card card? Sure..

They were rewarded with a two game ban for their insolence 🤣🤣

France did a little more than edge them out tbf, Morocco were never at the races. But a lot of that was down to France being a really good team with plenty in reserve. When they click they are an awesome team. They do sometimes lack the urgency but when they go up a gear then few teams are going to be able to live with them.
