This very much feels like United are trying to strong arm him out the door.
Don't agree with the club leaking the bid to the couple of journalists they did. It's putting Ferry under immense pressure to accept, when he has no duty to anyone to do so. I wouldn't go anywhere i didn't want too, i'm sure all of you would be the same. I understand they are probably leaking it to start a bidding War, but ostracising the boy from the squad is counter productive.
If he rejects the move (and it looks like he has) we need to get him back in first team training.
Our best player should be part of our squad until the day he finally departs.
Agree with this. I get that the club want the 1.7M (?) but you can’t push him to a club that isn’t appealing to him.

That's a total disgrace, if true. I'm Team Ferry all the way in this situation.

BBC gossip via D/R reporting ferry back in training and move will not go ahead. Hopefully true.

Told to miss a day of training and consider his options because the club had accepted a significant offer for him, goes in the huff and posts a snidey Instagram story to have a go at the club and stir shit up.
If he's been made to train with the youths, I doubt it's so simply do with the fact we are trying to sell him and don't want him injured. If that was the case, we'd just make him train alone? Maybe he kicked up a fuss at the time everything happened and he's being punished for that.
Fine by me if so. The club has to look after their best interests.

Heard the same, also been told he wants to stay but is being told to basically leave, club wants to recoup the funds.
He is not happy at being essentially helped out the door and is standing firm.

Personally, if it’s a choice between upsetting Ferry by forcing him out the door for £1.5m or letting him hang around until a club he actually fancies comes in—only to potentially lose him for nothing—then Ferry can enjoy training with the reserves as far as I’m concerned.

What message does that send out to future signings? I wouldn't want to sign for a team that treats its players like that.

Got to back Ferry here myself as well tbh. Nothing against the Czechs, never been but know lots of people who have visited (not just Prague!), but I can't say it's the sort of place to be top of any ones places to live. The bigger clubs usually do okay in Europe but I would imagine that across the league it's probably not much higher standard than Scottish football either, so from Ferry's point of view, it's a bid of a sideways move. It's not like it's Serie A that so many other Scottish based players have moved on to in recent years.
See the clubs point of view also, it's a very tidy sum, but compared to what else might come in, I wouldn't be rushing to go anywhere if I was Ferry either.

Never understood why fans care so much about finances. I care what’s on the pitch not off it. Ogren hasn’t been arsed about United in years, I’m the same about him.
Give me Will ferry 2 seasons ago this year helping us into Europe again over 1.8 million.

Any potential buyer would look at our senior team's training regime adds up to serious potential for injury.
Any potential buyer would be nuts to let potential 1.7 mil train with seniors. Recipe for disaster.
We're never going to know the half of it till it's happened.

I think this goes too far, but Ferry knows he is moving on and that the club need to cash in on him. It's just part of the game these days. If he wants to hang around then he needs to sign an extension on terms that work for us. I am sure he's not offering that which puts the club in the position that they can't turn their nose up at £1.8M. You have to ask yourself whether having Ferry around for another season (and he would sign a pre-contract in December) is worth us losing £1.8M? It isn't.

Disagree. Some of that £1.8M will be about what is on the park. Ferry has done his stint here and moves on with our good wishes, we need that to happen to encourage other players to come to Tannadice knowing if they play well then they get a good move. (To be clear I think Ferry is well within his rights to hold out for a 'better' club/location, but that needs somebody else to want him. If that doesn't appear then he either agrees an extension or gets forced out to somewhere he doesn't want to go. That's the way it works. Bosman doesn't always mean the player has all the control...)
Even if Ogren pockets the £1.8M it's £1.8M closer to us getting rid of him and getting someone in who has the wherewithal to actually invest in the club.

SCH to Dunfermline
Stirton and dewar going to Ayr
Great moves for all 3, hopefully all go on to make 30+ appearances

Yeah definitely. This must be the precursor to some imminent incomings surely?

What a shoddy way to treat our best player of the last 2 years. He’s more than entitled to turn down a move he doesn’t want. He doesn’t owe it to United to get them a big transfer fee.

I didn't see any fancy MLS clubs scouting him while he was at Cheltenham. He at least owes the club some respect in my opinion. When it comes down to it, I'll forget Will Ferry a very long time before I'll ever forget Dundee United. Some folk are extremely quick to lay the boot into the club without knowing both sides of the story.

With news of Stirton's imminent departure to Ayr that leaves us with.
2 Strikers and no wingers currently at the club (Randall still obviously not here).
Season starts a week tomorrow 🫤
Anyone else get the feeling these league cup games could be a tough watch?

Wee bit surprised these moves are happening so early as possibly leaves us a bit short for league cup games, but ultimately good moves for all 3. Expect Adams to go on loan too. Possibly Constable later in the window if we sign another right back.

Agreed.
Would have kept all of them until league cup games are done and dusted.
Don't understand the rush tbqh.

Putting the internet boot into Will Ferry OR the club seems crazy when we're not party to the facts as opposed to "I heard"
Maybe Ferry told someone at the club to go F**** themselves or maybe it was the other way round. I just don't get the excitement to criticise the club here so quickly.
Well actually I do.

SCH officially away to Dunfermline for a year. Should have happened this time last year and he might now have been ready for 1st team action. Anyway, good luck to him.
Goodwin's record on playing our youth absolutely terrible. This will be the last season he has an excuse in that regard.
